How to Shorten the Cable of Sony MDR-7506 Headphones

The Sony MDR-7506 is a great everyday headphone, but the cable is insanely long. Turns out there is a a drop-dead simple way to shorten it with no tools. I did this to my 7506s a few weeks ago and am still amazed how simple and functional this modification is.
