That is one sick an beautiful CR 500. I love the two tone color seat, with red and black. I also loved John Greer's red, white, and blue seat. It's the most beautiful seat I have ever seen, next to the GasGas Factory Seat. ML&R.

Robert Walden: I’d guess wrap it with 3M Wrap. Drain and wash the tank out so you don’t go BOOM when you use the heat gun.

My '96 is virtually unmolested to the point that Im still running the stock pipe (that is in outstanding condition!). The only deviations from stock are the silencer, Gold Valve suspension revalving and heavier springs, oversize front disc, and red instead of black radiator shrouds (I prefer the red).

Dr. Hugo G. Hackenbush I got a SC2 40mm carb and it is so easy to start. Literally no jets and it runs so crisp. Very happy with it!

When you talked about the KX 500s, that reminded me that on a dyno, the CR500s actually make more whp than the KX, and much more torque too. The CR motors also respond to mods very well. With mild porting, Pro Circuit exhaust system and 2mm larger carb, these bikes will make around 62whp just with those mods which is already a lot of hp but this was my supporting knowledge to help support your argument. lol
Kx500 has a far better power spread than the Honda I own both the cr hits harder then peters out the kx is smooth broad and has more overrev those things hook up the cr when its dry and baked out wont hook up spins everywhere unti you let off.
Daniel Relph yep. My buddies CR500 will turn inside of my KX and blast out of the corner... But two and a half laps later he's so tired he can't hold on. Meanwhile, the KX is predictably throttle steering hooking up and pulling long-ass short shifts.. making life relatively easy.

Modern 450 ain't gotta chance in hell against that beast. Don't mean to be rude or anything but those bikes are blowing away all the new stuff away hope that might clear the air for you ,Ya should see if you can find one to ride and you'll find out what it's like you'll never want to get off of a bike like that!

The cr500 was a low compression motor I believe 6.5.1 the kx,ktm 500 were more u don't need a compression release on the cr nice bike I'm a Honda guy I'm just saying
