      I don't think they realise even their negative view on Forrest hiring a ref and the tweets they sent is highlighting exactly what they want to be highlighted.
      Some of those non penalty decisions were an absolute joke, even if what Forrest said was detrimental to the PL's credibility as a whole.. The poor level of the Video Assistant Refs credibility is hugely detrimental to the credibility of the Premier League.

    • @KingBarse

      Also let's be honest the suggestion that the manager should say the decisions were poor in post match interviews is laughable.. 1. That interview wouldn't of got anywhere near the exposure. 2. Post match interviews highlighting horrendous ref decisions does absolutely nothing but get the manager a fine or an apology letter from the PGMOL at best. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
      Some of these clubs can get relegated off the back of a few horrendous not debatable but horrendous decisions that were reviewed by the VAR where a few points make all the difference.

    If true, and the VAR official is a Luton fan, then Forest are simply highlighting how inept and amateurish the PGMOL are. Referees should declare the town they grew up in and the club they support ( if not the same ) and should never be allowed to officiate matches with said teams. Theres a reason the officials on the international stage are not from either of the two teams playing. It should be no different at national level for the same obvious reason. Instead of instantly bashing Forest, these joke pundits should adk the question "can we first confirm whether the VAR is from Luton or Luton FC fan?" The fact that isnt their first question destroys ANY credibility they think they had.

Liverpool may lose out on the league by 1 or 2 points, what happens then when they were basically denied 1-3 points by the refs in the game at Tottenham? I mentioned that because the PGMOL admitted defeat there but they also have valid complaints in the game vs Arsenal, vs Man City. Not sure, but pundits not talking enough about fans concerns regarding officiating in terms of quality and more over a potential bias in terms of supporting a team is in many ways poor and lacking balance to an argument/discussion which is against what the media should stand for. An official with a declaration of an interest in a club should be treated the same as any other professional bias and avoided involvement if objectivity can be placed in question rightly or wrongly

    I’m a Derby fan and would normally be happy to see our local rivals Forest lose.
    But in this case, the decisions were diabolical. 2 of the 3 penalty incidents were stonewall, and how VAR hasn’t overturned them I have no idea.
    So I completely back Forest for raising this so publicly. The decisions in this match alone could be the difference between staying up and relegation. Nothing will be achieved by just having a moan in a post match interview, which most managers seem to do nowadays anyway.
    Gary Neville is a good pundit but he has got it wrong here. Also, it is ironic that he is defending referees when he was part of a United team that were well known for squaring up and intimidating them in numbers during games in the late 90s.

You can call them classless but there have to be measures to stop bias in officials. Simply when they get their strips as a ref they should declare where they are from and who they support so action is taken accordingly when chooses what games they will oversee.

  • @DehydratedDuck
    @DehydratedDuck Před 13 dny +1

    The referees need to be held accountable. I don't want to call corruption, so put the Luton fan story line to the side and this is still ANOTHER disgraceful refereeing performance. There is no excuse to have this many refereeing mistakes with VAR in the picture.
    The problem is that the referees get to have howlers like this, then go home and have a beer without having to justify their performance. When players or managers have stinkers, they have to come out in front of the press and apologise or justify themselves. The players and managers are held accountable when they make mistakes, why are referees not treated the same?
    The solution is easy too, there are two changes which will fix this. Firstly, give live broadcasters access to the communication between on field referee and VAR just like they have in rugby. Then we will have some clarity around why the referees have made the decisions. It is currently a black box and we're constantly asking ourselves HOW have the referees come to this conclusion?!?! This would help us answer that, whether we agree or not we will at least understand their point of view.
    Secondly, give the referees media duties just like players and managers do. When Pep doesn't play a DM against Chelsea in the CL final, the media get to ask why and Pep has to justify himself. He, and any other manager in a similar position, gets held accountable for the mistake. Because they are held accountable, they take more care with their decisions. How can we hold referees accountable? We need to get them into interviews after the game. Have them asked questions like: "You didn't give a penalty for this, why?". Referees knowing that they will be held accountable for their decisions should have them think twice when they're making them. No rushing into silly mistakes which have huge affects on the game and cause outrage every other week.
    The system as it is, simply isn't good enough and the fix isn't difficult. Do better. Hold yourselves accountable
