Yes it's okay....don't fight over such small issues...this would make people more away from religion ....you just don't wish others and don't participate in celebrations but if someone wishes you , just say thank you and leave

Just reply with "Ooh onamayt entha parupadi" or "how is your day/celebration going", etc.. by not wishing them back to avoid sin. But If you are strong in iman, you can say "I don't celebrate these, even I dont celebrate birthday of our prophet" respectfully with a smile. Nobody gets offended. People just respects you more because you are true to yourself and your beliefs.

Why Should not celebrate the new year
It's not proven from the quran and sunnah
