So awesome! Much love from Estonia,we as well, real Estonian people who belive in the forest and the magical land, and self building. My father has made wooden house by himself and now i have the same dream, too bad that goverment won't just give little bit of land where we could cultivate our own food and make our own houses, many these old lessons that our ancestrys gave us has been forgotten and it warms my heart when i see something like this!
We have houses like this in my hometown in New England, they are very old,, they go back to colonial times, makes me now wonder if they were were built by immigrants from this country, they were very similar to this and made to last millennia.. this young man is a true craftsman! Much respect...
This house will survive generations. I watched how it was made and was impressed by the determination, knowledge and personal strength it took to build this extraordinary home.
No TV, no problem! ;-) What a beautiful house, and family! Latvia is not that far from Germany... Would love to live there and YOU build my house! SMILE!!!
You'll never need to worry about cutting the wrong size, spin in circles or waste time trying to figure out what goes where... With ryan's detailed shed plans czcams.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu , it makes building sheds a breeze - just like putting lego bricks together! You'll be able to create the kind of shed, your neighbors and other woodworkers will secretly envy (while mumbling nice job under their breath).
greetings from greece jacob......a wonderful natural built home from your own bare hands in order to shelter you and your beautiful family.....the hapiness that is reflecting in the faces of your children and wife, the wisdom of the building and the respect to the natural creation gives your home, your ''nest'' as you said, a more meaningful perspective........god bless you
I love this house and all the thought and handcrafting! I watched the full video about 2 years ago and deeply respect the craftsmanship. Jacob I am lucky to have 2 of your knives.
Is there another video about this house and/or this building lore somewhere? If so, I would love to have a link to it.. If you do have one, please post it, would you? Thank you very much :-)..Forever learning..
Yes ,however american stick frame are built from pre cut boards and put together with a nail gun. Not much skill involved there. This guy is an ARTIST using tools that most people couldn't even name , myself included. No comparison here.
@@siriosstar4789 He still followed well known construction principles, he just used a different technique (timber framing). Don't get me wrong, he did a great job, saved a lot of money too. But at the same time, don't overstate it either.
Sorry i completely disagree. One cannot overstate the difference between a timber framer and a stick frame builder and one cannot deny that this guy is step above most timber framers. I have built many house in my 72 two years by the stick frame method and will attempt to overstate the artistic talent of the guy that built the house in the video again and again. Many people possess similar technical skills in house building , but few have that mysterious something extra that this guy has. It's like cooks . A hundred people could use the same recipe but only one will produce a taste that defies description. Take for example comparing michael Jordon to Koby. Similar statistics but one creates awe, the other two points. I garentee that if someone with equal carpentry skills built this house with the same materials , using the same tools , you would get two entirely different results. Enjoy
American carpenters don't fell their own trees or mill their own lumber. Some do, but they are homesteaders or other such revolutionaries. And I'm not aware that we have mature stands of linden to chose from.
Watched this twice in a row and may watch it again. So great to see this beautiful building. Reminds me of when I lived in the mountains of Southern Austria as a child for a short time.
I didn’t know men like Jacob existed anymore. Not an ounce of fat on this guy...truly a man’s man. What skill and talent and tenacity! His wife and daughters have a solid and beautiful home.
Thanks for the english translation ... Love the work you have done, are there plans available for the home.. this Canadian would love to have a home that came out of the forest as well!
Yep the Translation was very much appreciated , I didn't understand a word of what they were saying ( A late friend of mine would have ) was really helpful and the house and the way it was built is just excellent :D
this house was built with pride and true craftsmanship...my hats off to this man for the strength heart and soul he put into his home...looks to me that this house will be passed down for many generations...really something to be proud of..
Well done Jacob a beautiful built home from foundation to roof all with the help and support from your family. Excellent workmanship. Regards Barry from Nymagee NSW Australia
This is the most beautiful channel I have yet to come across on CZcams... from the quality of the videography to the content itself... absolutely outstanding.
I really hope that the story of you building a family home so spectacular will be written down one day including the whole process, as a master how to book. I would be the first one to buy. Beautiful house, surrounded by nature. No more a man can hope. Thanks for the video! Loved it
Oh I second that about thanks for the subtitles!!! I would looooove to see a 2-hour documentary of the building of this man's home (And his traditional lore, wisdom and comments). His statements about the weight of the winter trees and lifting, etc.. Priceless! The month and year to cut the tree, the properties of Larch as opposed to different tree types, the building of his foundation, what a teaching treasure trove that would be!! Thank you sooo much for producing this video and sharing it with us! From a new subscriber. Oh yes, you bet I did..
I watched the vid that showed all the steps of this house being built & it's just amazing...completely awe struck at all the craftsmanship that went n building the house by hand with as few tools as possible. Everyone who enjoyed this needs to go watch how this house was built...some of the pics in this vid touches on the video made of the house being built- step by step.
Jacob, I think your story is authentic; you showed how mankind can strive and make the best under extreme circumstances and yet you prevailed. Almost poetic, but worthy of admiration. I enjoYed your video.
Awesome! Im always exited when i see a new vid from you. You should make more. If anyone reading this hasen't see "birth of a wooden house" watch the full length version and see what went into building this beautiful home. Its amazing.
Hello Jacob. Alot of respect and love to You and Your family from Estonia, Viljandi. I respect that same knowledge as You and restoring a loghouse with same kind of beams. My loghouse was built in 1881. Only thing i'm missing is that secret calendar :) I need to know those 3 days. I think it is february full moon days. Please share the knowledge with me. Youre welcome to my farm anytime and bring the family :).
Wow, looks GREAT! Will save this video for later when chores are done. We have a Russian Artist living on our farm in Normandy with us. Will show her this later when I've viewed it...cheers...rr

I liked when he said wood is “sun battery”. It is a good thing to ponder. I also liked when he said “I wanted a large table to seat 14, but who will fill in the empty spaces?” It’s exactly in line with my thoughts of our future. I want a large table, so it will entice the company of good people, for real food and conversations about life and wisdom and humor.
A young man with an Old Soul. Talented craftsman.
Holy mackerel! Amazing talent!

He built his own house. Man! That says so much about how far we've moved away from working with our hands.
