      Hi Andre, it is very stable but you have to be straight up when you brake hard so the front doesn't wash out. Lovely machine, I wish it was just a little bit lighter. Ride safe!

    Absolutely beautiful, I can't stop watching it, it so reminds me of the Breakfast run I used to be pillion on the road from Randburg to haartesberport Dam, back in the late 80's. Fabulous Sunday mornings, and just look at the stunningly beautiful landscape and sky of the amazing South Africa and what a beautiful bike and ride,.. Feels like I'm on the seat. I must say you certainly do have balls of steel to ride like that. Unfortunately I don't. I just traded my K16GT for a 2019 GTL. I find lots of drivers on unfamiliar roads will see something last minute on the side of the road and suddenly slam on brakes to have a closer look. That's what scares me, so I rather keep a safe distance behind them. Maybe I am getting old and my reflexes are not the same.

    • @miragegp
      @miragegp  Před 5 lety +1

      Nothing wrong with that approach. In general, I like to be a step or two ahead of whatever might happen. But sometimes, you throw caution to the wind and ride on reflexes/skill only. After my accident, I'm not sure how will I ride again. Time will tell.

I don't anymore, but a highly-capable rider (seems the guys pictured were highly capable) probably won't do too much stupid stuff. Yes, the unexpected happens, it's rare but true. UAU! it's incredible how this awesome bike can manage curves at 240km/h on an open road with all it's bumps and holes, you don't expect to see this with a so tall and heavy bike. But the driver took too many risk... I'm sure he is very talented, but me too have driven for hundreds of thousand of kilometers and I know what I say when I tell you that you were far beyond any possibility to avoid any other "clown" driver at that speed; and there are many other "clown" driver out there, and they deserve the right to be there at least as much as you, clever pilot. You also yelled at him like if you can do what you want, but not him.... you can speed, but he must stay within the lines... come on..... fly-down man.... the day you'll loose control for any of the thousands of stupid reasons that may happen out there you'll probably kill a family.

      @miragegp  Před 9 lety +1

      Can you please advise when ANYONE has to slow down, change his lane or driving line to facilitate space for motorcycle rider ? Has ANYONE been affected in any shape or form ?
      Clown driver was exactly that - clown driver, went over the line and started to break. Truck driver that was turning right - nobody said anything about him - he was doing the right things and it was riders responsibility to react and adjust accordingly. What are you riding ?

    • @ciarlienchi
      @ciarlienchi Před 9 lety +1

      miragegp Seems you didn't got my point; the clown driver did something stupid (trying to change line without an evident reason) and then he saw you, so he slowed down.... and so? My point was trying to explain that there are a lot of drivers (driving cars, trucks, bikes, bicycles, tractors, vans and so on...) and just a few of them are smart drivers which stay within the lines, carefully apply turning signals before slowing down, don't get scared when others approach them from behind on a loud and fast motorbike..... all the others just drive....... you can't complain if they slam on brakes without any reason (or may be just because a bee just entered the car from the open window ..... ) you have to consider that all the people have the same right to be there on the road (unless is doped or under the influence of alcohol) and you should drive respecting these ones at least as much as you ask for the same respect. Let's make an easy example changing the subjects: you are on your bike, enjoying the ride on a sunny saturday or simply commuting from home to your office..... an insect gets inside your helmet, you are just terrified as you're allergic to its puncture... so you brake hard and cut the lines trying to reach the side of the road ............ from your back I'm coming with my brand new RS6....... making a video for my YTfollowers......... pushing hard on the gas at the speed of light ..... should I f***k you off as you are cutting the lines like a dumb clown or what??
      English is not my language so it's hard for me to explain my thoughts but I hope you got the point now.. Enjoy your riding and be safe for you and for the clowns too ;)

      I had the chance to drive one last week whilst my K1200rs was in repair. What a bike. The upright sitting position was not really sport touring so it felt strange in the corners. I liked when the plexiglass was pushed down at the highest speed. Nice riding skills, but I must say that the rider was the biggest clown in that blind corner crossing a white line with a clown car driver who proved himself already in the beginning of the corner to be completely unpredictable.

      Has your riding style changed since the accident? Good to see how safe the K1600GT is at those, albeit illegal, speeds. I was looking at the new Gold Wing GL1800, but for R400k I can get almost three very nice K1600GTs.

      Video with K1600GT was made few years ago, I had GS Adventure and GS since - decided to slow down and live longer. And then had really bad (first in all years of riding) accident . It happened over 6 months ago, recovery is very slow. Not sure when/if I will ride again. But I want to. Going to upload video of the accident soon...

    I'm a motorcycle rider in South Africa and car drivers can't hear not see you coming at that speed. Just because it's a breakfast run, doesn't give you the excuse to drive at those speeds. No excuse you are risking thier life's and yours! Nothing to be proud about in this video.
    I'm surprised you haven't come off yet!
    Go on a track day if you want to drive at 260km, the correct place to do so.

    Irresponsible riding. This is how usually bikers get killed. Plenty of hazards that might've gone so bad for both rider and drivers. They were so right to say that adrenaline is the worst drug ever.

    • @miragegp
      @miragegp  Před 10 lety +1

      @enachi79 Před 10 lety

      Listen, I am more than happy that nobody died. Still, motorcyclists get injured or even die very often, and one of the main reason is speed. And sometimes they take innocent people with them.

    • @miragegp
      @miragegp  Před 10 lety +2

      enachi79 Speed. Lack of training or skill. Road conditions. Stupid drivers. Incomplete protective gear. We can go on and on and on... We should have stayed at home - instead we decided to burn fuel, ride fast (irresponsibly) and made that hole in ozone layer even larger. Shame on us. Happy ?
