David- I really enjoy your videos. I just got back into photography after a 30 year hiatus. So, while I really enjoy the history of Scotland you provide and the gear appraisals (very useful). I would really appreciate understanding what you see and feel that makes you press the shutter at any given moment. I understand the mechanics and compositional aspects of photography. It’s the visional aspects that sometimes elude me. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I only took photography up just about two and a half years ago after I had a terrible accident which stopped me being able to play my guitar which I had done for 40 years. Instead of getting depressed about it, I scratched my artistic itch by getting into photography. Literally the best thing I ever did!
I love your question and I think I will dedicate a video to that subject. It’s sometimes difficult to say what I see, sometimes something is undeniably intriguing and other times you have to work a little harder on the composition of the image. For example, you might have a wonderful subject in front of you (castle, bridge, mountain etc) but to make the image stand out from being a holiday snap, you need to work the foreground or look for natural framing from a tree or flowers or even just tall grass!
When you find your subject, try and think of an angle or approach that others might not. That’s when it becomes fulfilling, challenging and rewarding all at the same time!!

Glen Coe was my first video where you gave a wee bit of history as well as stunning vistas. I liked that. Not too much text to overwhelm, the views do that all on their own. And 50? Aye right, 30 if you’re a day!

Good to see you back david, missed the banter from your videos, loving the images from glencoe and surrounding areas. For me what initially attracted me to the channel was that your scottish, your local to myself which meant cover local areas to me to give me ideas for new areas to visit when i get out and about. The banter/humour makes a big difference to it helps keep you engaged with the viewers yeah we all make mistakes and its good to include these from time to time makes it more relatable. As we all know we dont always have perfect days out there's always something that goes wrong but its about how you overcome and move forward. Your channel will change from time to time but it all still focuses around the core of your photographic journey and what makes you achieve this, wish you all the best with your channel and maybe 1 day bump into travelling around scotland.

I bought a tentbox! You need a memory foam topper with a self inflate mat under the topper, you deflate in the morning so it’ll close in the morning! Otherwise it’s like sleeping on an ironing board!
I think you should do what you like and feel intrigued by. That will change from time to time.
