These Rides are FINALLY LEAVING Alton Towers!!

- The Retrosquad is finally leaving the Alton Towers Resort, Spinjam, Funk N Fly and Twistatron have all been running at the resort for the 2023 season and many years prior we've seen others such as Roller Disco and Mixtape - but recently we had an announcement from Alton Towers saying that the rides will be LEAVING on the 5th of November!!! What could this mean for the park and will anything replace them?? Lets chat about that!

I’m really happy to see them go! Let’s just hope we FINALLY get more flat rides at towers now! If they can bring sub terra back, surely they can bring ripsaw back too 🤞🤞

personally i think that alton towers would be able to theme a zamperla disk’o really well into x sector, and the idea of having one there would be really good anyway
New for 2024 my flat ride design Tornado strike. It doesn't fit in with any of the theming but it would be the first of its kind.
Honestly, I wouldn’t hate it if Twistatron was replaced with a Zamperla Endeavour. It’s basically a modern enterprise so it would sort of be the flat ride equivalent to the Nemesis renovations. A modern upgrade on an Alton Towers Classic.
Spin Jam could literally just be replaced with grass like Submission was.
I wonder though, if there would be any flat rides added where Roller Disco was

I could see a Zamperla Nebulaz (On the Site of spin jam, basically has the same effect as submission) and an Endeavor (On the site of Twistatron/Enterprise)
Probably a 3rd Zamperla on the site of Funk N fly, but if forbidden valley as a whole is getting redone for 2024 (Galactica is being refreshed, nemesis full retrack, and the buildings being done up) Floorless topspin, Ripsaw's Revenge, PLEEAASSSEE Towers

instead of temporary carnival rides, PERMANENT ONES WITH THEMING (OLD BARRELS AND COLOUR SCHEME), in all seriousness this is a great change for towers
Spin Jam (specifically those last 30 seconds when it accellerates) I believe was the highest sustained G-Force ride in the park (and I've been on pretty much all of the main rides).
I loved it, though it did force all the blood to my feet
unpopular opinion but while i hated how the other ones looked funk and fly was fitting in relatively well with forbidden valley, I still am glad it is being removed though

Dan did you know on the zierier rides website. The potential carts for Legolands new coaster are there as concept art. They call it the dueling reverse coaster

To be honest I don't see there being any new replacements any time soon... they're already got a lot of projects happening at the moment, so they'll probably want to get those out of the way first before they consider looking at these empty plots...
Merlin don't seem to like flat rides and the retro squad were clearly just something temporary, so I wouldn't be surprised if the X-sector plots get merged together and become a small walk-through attraction like black mirror labyrinth or something... thinking realistically 😅
Dan dont worry there bringing them back and theming them to the futuristic trio

I think it will depend on what Project Horizon is - if it's an Intamin they might go for a package deal and get a cheaper flat ride.

to be honest I kinda saw this coming from a mile away especially after Sub-Terra was brought back, as due to Sub-Terra also being back it kinda helps with the capacity itself
I hope they replace them all with strata coasters
They cant add any tall rides such as a drop tower or a freak out as it will go over the tree height limit sadly. They could make the entrance underground tho.
Finally some real rides are coming
The dream would be relocating slammer and renovating it. Might have to dig a big hole for it to go in at Alton Towers. Merlin, make it happen.
