Just did this on my 2012 chrylser whole top sun roof i just did what u showed us and boom this is hands down the best vid on youtube to diff works for anyone trying to unclog ur sun roof
I did this on my 2014 Nissan. The bottle says it is safe for plastic. Great tip about raising the front of the car to make sure the liquid gets to the rear drains. I used a turkey baster and some 3/8” clear tubing and snaked the tubing to the rear corners. Worked great.
It says it's safe for plastic but I'd still rinse it real well afterwards. Also good to maintain those drains and pour some hot water through it every 4 to 6 months or so to make sure it's draining and clear out any junk.
You saved me so much time and headache in trying to manually get to the clog! It seemed to weird to use drain cleaner on sunroof drain tubes but it worked so well! Thank you so much, man!
hey mate.the draino method worked brilliantly.it took about 20 minutes. it poured out in one go,just like your video. you saved me a lot of money. thanks mate
Could not find a thing on my E70 BMW X5 sunroof drain problem. Was a little iffy on trying this but after reading the comments here from others "I said what the heck"!! I am here to say it worked perfectly! Crazy as the video showed ....after about 20 mins GOOOoooosh all came out.. Very nice video!!!!! Cheers from NE Arkansas
Nestor, great discovery. As the old saying goes, necessity is the mother of all inventions. So many people have been looking for this new discovery. Thank you for sharing with the community.
Hoy me dijeron que tenia que pagar $150 para diagnosticarlo. Voy a intentar esto y le dejo saber. Edit for results: I did this. Nothing was even dripping out of the drip tray. I used paper towels to soak up the water in the drip tray and did this same technique. Gave it 30 mins and when I flushed with the hot water it started pouring out! Thank you Nestor!!!
I like your video and subscribe to your channel. I have a 2016 Honda HR-V that is getting water under the front passenger side. I was able to insert about 4' of string trimmer line but it would not go any further. I poured water and the water did come out under the car. However, when it rained, the water is still getting in the car. Do you think the drain is still clog or can it be another reason? I've ordered the Drano Dual Force from your Home Depot link and will give this a try. Can you answer the following questions too so I can make sure I follow your instructions correctly. 1. How much Drano liquid to use? 2. Which Drano liquid side to use first? 3. How long to wait before pouring hot water? 4. How much hot water to use and how hot does it have to be? Should I let boiling water cool off? Thank you in advance for your advice.
This is what I was looking for. I was like there has to be something to drain it without removing the bottom covers. I just couldn't think. I put oxiclean 3 in 1 deep clean with hot water before I saw your video. I'll wait a week or few days before trying the drano if oxiclean doesn't resolve the issue.
Hello. I just tried ur remedy on my 09’ Nissan Altima. Water continues to leak into the inside, back console, that leads down by the back windows? When I poured the drano in., it seems as if the drano just came into the inside back console, window area? Cld my drain valves be loose possibly? I’m trying to understand, and fix, without taking things apart. Yet, I’ll do whatever needs to be done. Ur input wld be so greatly appreciated.
Your tubes were probably already full of water. On an Altima you can reach the rear drain tubes by taking the roof liner off. Just remove the handles (where you might hang clothes) and the liner pops right off like legos. Then the drain tubes are just stuck on the sunroof and pop off
Great video, thank you. My Highlander is getting water inside the car when it rains. I'm not sure if the weather stripping needs replacing or if its due to a clogged drain. But i'm gonna try this first before replacing the stripping. I would like your own personal opinion on this. Do you think it is more than likely clogged drains or worn stripping?
Yo what did you do? I found water on my cars floor mat, it was soaked at first I thought it was the door seal but just today I got in my car it was raining and I noticed little drops coming from where the sunroof drain hose is located so I instantly knew what it was because I had done some research before but yeah I’m going to do what this guy did
I did it just a moment ago in ford mondeo mk4. For a while water flow increased but finally water stops leaking at all. Additionaly sunroof connection with water hose lost tightness somehow during this method. Now im finished with no flow and destroyed roof material by chemicals :(
@@nestorautorepair ok. I used one that is just one liquid. Made sure it was safe for plastic and poured it into a plastic bottle to make sure it wouldn't melt it. It worked very well. I appreciate your video very much! Thank you.
Aren't you concerned w/ damage to the tubing or paint? Is there a way to neutralize the product to prevent secondary damage to the life of the tubing or to the paint?
For anyone else reading this these years later who is worried, flushing with water will work, but you can also pour vinegar (which is acidic) down the tubes to neutralize the drain cleaner (which is almost always basic, check and see)
I just use my air compressor... I open my sunroof, stick the air nozzle inside each hole & blast 3-5 seconds of air through the line & Im done in a couple minutes tops! Worked well for over 20yrs for me so far. Id never put any corrosive chemicals in these tubes, it may destroy the tubes insides leaving them rough so they clog faster. "Air pressure" this is the way!...lol

Would it be safe to say drain cleaner wouldn't be safe for a front drain clog if water is pooling in the footwell carpet?
How long do you wait to pour the 2nd half? And will this hurt the rubber tubbing inside

I had the same idea and I see it works. Did it eat any holes through the tubing, that you noticed later on?
No not at all , ones you flush it is gone

No hot water help it better for cleaning that's how it active the staff to work
Ok thanks

No this will not damage the tubing , there will not be a paint contact with this , every sunroof has a plastic trade ,,
I'd just flush with a fair amount of clean water.
