The Rising Volt Tacklers have visited the beaches of Paldea and Liko & Roy are enjoying some time off playing with the local Water-type Pokémon. However, Fuecoco accidentally gets washed out to sea but ends up getting saved by a Palafin, known as the Hero of the Ocean. Roy is amazed by Palafin but soon finds someone nearby who is trying to capture the transformation of Palafin to its Hero Form that has never been captured before. Will they be able to do it?

A special limited amount of the treat of Wiglettman are sold every day and you need to wait in line to get it. After helping the store manager, Liko & Roy are given some without needing to wait. However, one of the Explorers was in line for these treats as well and makes not, and as Liko & Roy return to the Brave Olivine, they notice a letter of challdenge has been arttached to Fuecoco's back. Will Liko & Roy approach the Explorers?

The Explorers plan is to summon Rayquaza and Friede finds out where the Explorers' hideout is so he, Liko, Roy and Ludlow decide to head there, only to find that a trap has been set by Spinel. Will Liko & Roy be able to stop the Explorers and stop them from finding and capturing the Black Rayquaza?

Finally grass type starter curse is broken. I think it's safe to say, that Liko will eventually get Meowscarada in the future.
This arc was definitely weaker, than the last one, but I really like episodes with developing the main cast and with a bunch of Paldea Pokemon. Climax as well was sick

Yeah very rough start (Especially cause of Indigo Disk DLC not coming out) but 34 was an insanely good way to end the year into weirdly entertaining semi filler episodes into back to the story which thank god the full action was 2 episodes rather than forced into one as well
A Grass starter has not evolved since Torterra. Absurd...
Damn and it's not just Ash's Pokemon either, even his companions who had the grass starter did not evolve it completely (Ash's snivy, Clemont's Chespin, Ash's Rowlet, Goh's Grookey)

Also, the Palafin episode was basically a beach episode fused with a super hero episode. Something I never saw in animation before.

This is one thing that was bound to happen eventually unlike stunts like greninja's release, the outcome of the Kalos League, Leon disrespecting Alain and Diantha, Goh catching suicune and certain other Pokemon, and screwing up the BW anime, all of which should never have happened
People just have to accept reality. Ash is gone. Finished. Ancient history now. It's time to move on. The anime clearly has since they don't even acknowledge his timeline here

I'll be honest, I somewhat tuned out of Horizons after around episode 30, but the news of Sprigatito evolving got me curious and got me to binge until I caught up. Now I'm actually hyped for what's next again.
And thank god we're not gonna get a Charmeleon situation with Floragato, as that was my only concern, them repeating what happened to Ash since Liko's the new rookie.

Season 1 of Horizons felt like season 1 of XY. Not the best, but a great indication for things to come.

So is Amethio going to be like the Zuko of the series, he starts off as a bad guy but grows into being a an ally of the hero group after leaving the evil group that already has many members that don’t like him.

The past few episodes were insane. Also, Gibeon has similar hair to Amethio (except the black parts are on the tips rather than the half-n-half thing Amethio's got going on), so I'm pretty sure they're related somehow.
dude i was NOT expecting that evolution because I thought they would just keep the silly marketable main pokemon as silly marketable pokemon, such a cool surprise and that yoyo is so cool. amethio might be like zuko from avatar, diverging from his group and becoming a better character (i still hope he’s a wildcard, sometimes helping and sometimes not though.)
Ludlow is the only one who can get close to matching Rowlet's power

I am definitely looking forward to the Terastal Debut arc, as we’ve got some narrative momentum for it and it can be a more straightforward Scarlet and Violet anime if only for the arc with the Challengers also accounted for. It’s beyond time Liko and Roy caught more Pokémon. Oh, and Wattrel still lives!
Did anyone else realize that the Black Rayquaza used Dragon Ascent?! It’s one move away from paralleling with its XY counterpart!
Also, consider that Megas are coming back in Legends Z-A. Anyone seeing where I’m going with this?
its quite hard to miss the zoom in to rayquaza as it goes green, flies out of frame, comes back in and then strikes down terazard and teraledge
When it used Dragon Ascent, for a split frame it looked like the “Quasar” logo from the Legends ZA trailer

I’d say that the main 3 (Dot, Liko, Roy) should also get Galar Starters to give the Galar Starters a proper interaction. That would be another thing that Journeys screwed up that can be fixed by Horizons
The Fuecoco amd Grookey band would go hard.
In all seriousness though the Galar starters actually match up well with the trio. Liko and Sobble work due to Liko wanting to understand Pokémon emotions, Scorbunny and Quaxly could essentially be rivals to one another and Roy and Grookey would work because the previous mention.
Wait wtf that's such a good idea Meowscarada and Intellion or Fuecoco Grookey would go so hard
That would actually be dope Roy getting Grookey Liko getting Sobble and Dot getting Scorbunny because they should get the Galar Starter weak to their Paldean Starters

And so the second arc ends here. It was a great one actually. I know there were a lot of fillers(even though there were only 5 of them) but those were very much required because Horizons is so plot heavy that there is a requirement for such non plot related episodes and the ones we received were so deep actually that the interactions just hit hard.
I have seen comments like the arc barely focused on Terapagos despite the name. Actually, the name was not Terapagos, it was The Brilliance of Terapagos which referred to their expedition in search of that brilliance, like what that creature is. Moreover, they can't create a 20 episode arc with them just discussing about Terapagos or catching the Six Heroes. They gave space for the character development and new captures and they nailed it at those points.
From my perspective, this arc deserves a 9/10.

This was one of the best story arcs from Pokemon anime.
Floragato is easily my favourite gen 9 starter design followed by Skeledirge cause... Come on its flaming crocodile
I just like the crocodile for multitude of reasons. Scarlet and Violet colors, bird friend, great moveset.
I find myself asking why we didn’t get Pikachu v Umbreon in Johto.
I like how for a split frame during Rayquaza’s Dragon Ascent it looked like the “Quasar” company logo from the Legends ZA trailer

Man Horizons cooked for nearly all of the episodes even the filler episodes were entertaining/enjoyable. The last ep got me glued into the screen Horizons stay winning 💪💪💪
Idk about the filler episodes. First one was pretty bad but at least it was the only dud in the first arc
The next few in the second arc were huge wastes of time, especially since they came back to back
So based with the palafin episode! I honestly give it a 9. And honestly I want Liko to have a Palafin because it works perfectly for what she wants to be as a Pokémon Trainer.
I can definitely see Liko owning Palafin and u did make a good point about it fitting her, but there's one problem. Palafin is a dolphin and completely immobile out of water. Even its hero form has limited movement on land. Unless it can fly but I'm pretty sure it can't do that
I feel like Liko would have a fairly basic Gen 8 to Gen 9 team but Palafin would be really cool to have on her team

Palaifin is also one of my favorite Gen 9 Pokémon and happens to be my ace Pokémon in Violet as that thing hardly ever lost a fight. (NPC Wise)

looks like this could be declared as the end of Pokemon Horizon end of Season 1. It got a lot better and was amazing. (still wished for Fuecoco to evolve though) so let's get ready for Season 2, the Paldea Arc!
Literally The shiny zygarde caught me off guard I did not expect that and there should only exist one zygarde the one in kalos because there exist only one z1 and z2 and yes both count as one Pokémon in Cannon but I guess not anymore

Also a character owning a shiny zygard only means that zygard might be getting a stronger form or smthn like that, cuz there's a whole game about it coming(ooor it just had to be in the anime because of the game too) . But hey that's just a theory.
Yeah zygarde, a rayquaza that knows dragon ascent so it can mega evo and all the RVT/explorers that have Pokémon that can mega evo is totally promotional material for PLZA. Just like terapagos was promotional material for the dlc.

And I love the palafin episode too, and since Ludlow has a Sharpedo, he may be the link to connect to Mega Evolution as the series progresses. And seeing the shiny Zygarde makes me think of two things: 1) did he find a shiny squishy in Kalos after Lysandre’s plan failed 2) could this connect to Legends Z-A next year?

It's great that Liko's Sprigatito is finally going to evolved into Floragato at last but what Roy's Fuecoco and Dot's Quaxly because I still think they should evolved too along with Wattrel, Hatenna and Tinkatink unless that will happen later in the upcoming Terastal Arc.

So basically Friede takes Dot, Liko, and Roy to the teachers who taught him Terrastalization. For the time being as the ship is being repaired, we going to get ourselves the anime's own version of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In a sense Horizons for an actually valid reason is going back to form for a while allowing Liko, Roy, and Dot to finally get stronger on their own.
The Explorers Boss after the failed attempt to capture Rayquaza and thanks to Amethio's report, their boss Gideon had came to terms the Rising Volt Tacklers will have greater success gathering the Six Hero Pokemon than they could realizing their slowly growing strength. Much to his underlings' dismay he decides to do the Team Rocket strategy and that is let the good guys do the work for them while they follow and observe. I can imagine this would not sit too well for everyone.

Ash’s battle with Annabelle in Battle Frontier also involved a Pikachu vs Gen 2 Eeveelution in the dark, although that time it was deliberately done to disadvantage Espeon.
So theory time:
Tldr; Gibeon might be related to Amethio and Liko is probably related to Lucius.
1. I think Gibeon is like Amethio's father or like family member. I got that feeling honestly since episode one bc of how young amethio looks and how hes so adamant to succeed with the tasks given to him as an exploror.
If you look carefully at Gibeon, we get to see the his head from above and his hairstyle looks like amethio's plus its white too.
Him being related to Gibeon might also be why the other explorors do not really like. For example Sango calls him a spouled brat. So yeah that is my theory for Gibeon
2. Another theory ive had since like before that Lucius is Liko's ancestor. A couple ppl have also made this connection bc of Liko and Lucius both having similar appearances such both have blue eyes.
It'll be interesting to see how Liko and Amethio's dynamic progress. Maybe they'll make parallel of them with Lucius and Gibeon (if we do get to know both these characters).
I'm personally hoping for an Amethio redemption arc. I thinks he's pretty silly and could get a well executed redemption arc and become good

since gibeon has a shiny zygarde, that makes me wonder if his team will oppose lucius’ team, color-wise (white zygarde, black rayquaza) or type-wise. like suicune to entei, scizor to kleavor, G. articuno to G. moltres, etc

Edit: Also the fact that Gibion and Lucious both have shiny legendaries (both dragon types mind you) might be a way to foreshadow a connection between the two

Thought I was the only thing mad about the writers taking this long for Umbreon vs Pikachu. Gary’s Umbreon almost faced Ash’s Pika but Gary decline I think . 😂
Can't wait to see what happens next. What will Liko, Roy and Dot will see in their new adventure. Will they catch new pokémons? Will the brave Asagi ever be repaired? Will they find Cleavor and Entei before the explorer? And will Coral ever find out that she's Ironmouse's long lost sister?
Only the future will tell.
