They like lots of reflective light, they like warm temperature with moderate watering & plenty of shade in the afternoon. They can take direct light in early morning, but put them in a spot with afternoon shade & water when the soil gets a bit dry on top, they will grow like mad.

My late wife raised and gave away purple shamrocks for 20 years. After she died, I continued to raise and give them away in memory of her. They do seem to prefer rain water. I grow them outside and they do much better there. My greens and variegated purple crossed a few years ago. I now have variegated greens too. I grow them in the shade of autumn olive plants. The shamrocks are invasive. When they can form seeds, they throw them like jewel weed. Have fun with them. Good Luck, Rick

So funny I just made a post about mine yesterday morning. I dug it up at the end of the summer and I took one bulb and planted it in a pot and brought it indoors and it’s been throwing off leaves and flowers ever since and it’s just absolutely perfect and I was saying how I can’t believe I kept it alive all winter!🤣🤣

I was so scared of this plant since I paid $45 for that original pot. Now I'm planting one of them in the garden to go amok.

@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Wow that’s a lot of money! I just never get used to the price differences between some plants over here and there! I want to do a time lapse of mine when I turn the lights on in the morning I think that is so cool to watch them move with the light! Well it’s a good thing for you is once you plant them in the ground and the pollinators pollinate those flowers, you’re good to go they are going to spread like crazy!

I have three varieties of oxalis plants. I have them In a west window, and I water very frequently, as otherwise their leaves get limp. All three are absolutely puffy, full of leaves and flowers. They're currently my faves!

Also I've been using spring water with watered down fertilizer. My friend and I both got our tiny pots of iron cross at the same time. Hers has maybe 3 or so stems. Mine has been transplanted and its Going to be split this week. Aptly, her name is Medusa. I'm very proud of her!

Hasn't flowered yet, I 'm affraid it 's going into dormancy now.
Anyway I love it. Thank you, Liz, for sharing.

Thank you SO much for doing this video!!! My boyfriend brought home two leaves and put them in water. I planted them in soil once they had roots. I had never seen or heard of this plant before. He got it out of his Mom’s garden. One of the leaves died within a few days of planting. The other leaf grew two more leaves. But then nothing. I love this plant so much but had no idea if I would ever have more than three leaves. I had no idea they formed corms. I will put my little 3 leaf outside and see if anything grows. What temps can they tolerate? We only get two weeks of spring in Texas and it’s starting now. It will be in the 90’s soon. And thank you for the plastic cup trick!! Such a great idea to keep plants upright.

We have the same weather but our seasons are reverse. It's autumn here in Australia and Spring in Texas. They're about to wake up soon in your area as mine will go to sleep/dormancy soon.

Hi LizK, Love these Oxalis plants. Actually the green ones grow wild up here in Central Queensland, and are considered as weeds! The wild ones have two kinds of leaves, one is heart shaped, the other is triangular. Most people hate them and are always pulling them out .I have a purple one that I bought, it's not doing so well, but I think it is getting too much sun, so I'm planning to do some work on it. Also, one of my green ones has some purple leaves coming! There is a smaller Oxalis which is a real pest. My green ones have pink flowers and look beautiful when growing en-mass in the ground. They die off in the winter and come back in spring. Thank you for featuring these beautiful 'weeds'!

I managed to keep them alive indoors in winter. Our coldest indoor temperature range is between 14°C/57.2°F to 18°C/64.4°F. One in morning sun, the other upstairs where the temperature is much warmer.

my oxalis is really loved by mealy bugs. once i spray them with isopropyl alcohol, turns out the leaves are so delicate, the purple colours transferred to my hand, and the leaves is wilted 😆. fortunately they bounce back normal and beautiful again.
