I have a stonecrop in my Garden that my aunt and uncle gave to me 10 years ago. Both have passed on now, but I am reminded of them when I see how good the plant is doing.😊

That’s what I need ground cover! Perfect timing! I just finished days 🥵of dismantling 😂my “weed” garden ☺️ thank you for your videos, I’m learning so much snd it’s showing around my yard.
I’m thinking the secret to eliminating weeds is if I have more plants....right? What can I use to keep weeds at bay? TIA!

Yay! Creeping phlox is one of my favorites so I’m happy to see it in your garden, too! Also love that you’re walking us around the surrounding area after you plant. It probably seems repetitious to you, having just done a tour, but I love when you call out the plant names because I’m still learning what’s what and it’s great to see how it performs in your space! Thank you!

Beautiful video, as always! It was very helpful for me to see the plants you put in your garden (and especially listening to your reasoning behind your choices) since I’m relatively new to gardening. For me learning about gardening is like speaking a foreign language and the more I immerse myself in it the more I understand it. You and Aaron are truly the best! My husband smiles now when I say “THEY put this and that in their garden” or just “SHE” does this or that”... Haha you are just part of our family. Blessings always!

Laura you and Aaron have become a joy to my soul. Your family is in my prayers daily as family. I'm a city dweller in Central California (Clovis) with a zone 8b - 9 area we are near the foothills (PTL) As we have aged I keep all vining, aggressive growing serious upkeep type plants at bay. I just love when you show filler plant that can become perennials. I now have Hellebores, Hydrangeas and more herbs. Looking forward to your development of the new land, but love to see what is working in your current garden, it is so healthy and now I know what to look for in my roses and gardenias to keep them looking the best.

(Well not new, its from 1963, but new for us lol) I can't wait to start working on the landscape, just as soon as we're done remodeling a little bit of the inside. Still have to see where a lot of the sun is, during the different times of year. Thanks for sharing Laura! When I drive through Halifax, Virginia; that stuff is everywhere. It grows under shade of trees. I tried it under my maple tree once. It lasted for about 2 seasons. The soil may have been too acidity. I changed over to sedum reflexum. That stuff is doing great! What I remember of phlox, it likes to be on a mild hillside. We had some in our backyard at one time. I think it got mowed down by a contractor I hired when I was working out of town a lot.

    Dear Laura,
you mentioned that you wanted round steppingstones for Benjamin's Area in the garden. Have you considered making them yourself? I never tried it, but I would imagine that you could use round silicone baking/cake pans and concrete. Might be worth a try and you could even have Benjamin press his little hands in one of them.

EnolaElorie, excellent suggestion for the stepping stones. I agree with the 'No-Dig farming' concept and have been researching it myself. I appreciate your tip about the "Dutch Farmer Moreno" channel, I hadn't seen his channel yet. It's more interesting, informative and very well produced compared some others I have watched. Thanks again for the tip. I agree that 'No-Dig' could be a more cost and time effective approach for Laura and Aaron's new property. It's much better than tilling and fighting weeds forever. Happy gardening.

Beautiful creeping phlox! I bet a white one would look pretty in the moon garden. 😊💚🌱

I just had looked at some creeping phlox online, and thought maybe it would be more vine, and less flower. This one is beautiful. Now I’ll wait and try to get some next spring! Thanks so much. I’m loving the area and I think Benjamin’s little space is going to be exciting. It’s hard to know what to do for kids that’s also eye pleasing for the garden. Tfs. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

I have them in my garden as well and they just keep growing and are a nice pop of color.

Great video. I get up each morning looking forward to a cup of coffee and a Garden Answer video! Love creeping phlox! I am jelous of all of your flowers - mine is a total shade garden, but I am currently putting in a large bed that will be mostly sun - so I'm taking lots of notes! Thanks for sharing - I learn so much!

Phlox is on my list to plant. Saw it in a friends garden and it was beautiful!

Beautiful! The bed has tons of color. Everytime you say hibiscus my mind sees the tropical type of hibiscus.

I really love your videos! It’s amazing to me how much I have learned from you in such a fun way, and I am daring to try new different things 😊 I recently dug up all of the shade loving plants in our front flower bed due to having to remove the trees ☹️ but I was confident that I could move them to a shadier area and they would most likely live on. I felt very professional! 😂 Thanks for the confidence, Laura!
