Hi, I'm a local event organizer for X-wing and despite AMG dropping the game, it's far from being dead! There are thousands of people still playing and a group of veterans, playtesters and event organizers created took over development of the game - so updates, balance changes and new pilots are in the making!

X-Wing got me into the hobby 6 years ago and I still enjoy it. I'll be playing it for years to come 😀

@thewynnest oh I went well beyond X-Wing 😆 Legion, Shatterpoint, Judge Dredd, Dystopian Wars, Bolt Action, The Walking Dead, Blood and Plunder, and more, and also into board and card games. But I always enjoy a game of X-Wing and it's never got boring. You're gonna have a lot of fun

Excellent summary! Great to see more newer players interested in the game. :) If you're interested in getting involved with the community effort plenty of us content creators and various community led projects have their own Discord spaces.
There's a real buzz around the game atm. It was kind of flatlining in terms of interest due to the player base not really jiving with the newer rules and game direction, but now we've got a community body leading the game we're far more confident about it's direction.

Was eyeing up the products for X-Wing on sale at my store, wasn’t sure if I wanted to get into another game. This video made me bite the bullet. Shame Asmodee really made these decisions, hopefully the community can keep it alive.

@@thewynnest Compared to Legion and Armada, it was hard not to see it as a lengthy, big investment game since I didn't know much about it (especially coming from 40k). You made it seem like a quick and fun game, which I'm sure it always has been. Sometimes it just helps to see it in a certain way to make it appealing. Great videos though man, keep it up!

X-Wing was my gateway drug. The on-table look is amazing: Great ships and mats; just so colorful! I love the gameplay (v.1&2), and length of game. Sigh ❤
Cool to hear your story Peter! For me its feels like a nice break from having to assemble and paint lots of minis. I can just get some ships out on a table and get going. Refreshing!

Hey me too! I bought a boat load of ships when stores starting clearing stuff out. Got at least a dozen ships of each of the 7 factions.
Now I need to find people to play with.

Id recommend picking up Battle of Yavin and Battle over Endor scenario packs, good fun alternative game types and more pilots for rebel/empire

Looking at some 1.0 kits right now. And yeah, you’re right.. I do want to get that U-Wing for my rebels.
I already had a 100--125 ships, but haveen't played in a couple of years. The AMG announcement put me in FOMO mode and I've spent a couple of hundred in the last week trying to fill holes in my collection. Sigh....
I see what you mean. I’m trying to get the U-Wing and Fang Fighter to expand my rebels.
@@thewynnest FB groups seem to be the ticket. But also, my thought process goes to. Ships will be around for a while. I've been buying up scenario and card packs "Battle of Yavin" "Pride of Mandalore" "Never tell me the odds" "Fully Loaded Devices" etc.. because I bet those are going to be harder to come by in the future than used ships will be.
@@Foxtrot_Woof Actually got the ones I mentioned above right now 😂.. Pretty good prices as well. Just have to get that Rebel conversion pack and Pride of Mandalore. Eventually, if the game sticks I'll get some of those scenario packs.

@@thewynnest I know amazon has teh U-wing. Its a german first edition copy. But if you use Infinite arenas you can print the cards, dial and base tiles for them.
Went on a buying spree just prior to the announcment. I think i'm just missing two shuttles, U-wing and the Alpha wing. My Naboo fighters are 3d printed and i'm gonna get a tie agressor thats 3d printed at some point so technically missing those. Basiclaly i can't find any of them even on ebay at least at reasonable prices. As for official current black box stuff in the Uk its basically nearly all gone now.
I just started too about four months ago. And like it. Have enough to host games. And sticking with version one. All good.

Same here I started last week
2.0 is the better version and is the dog fighting version. AMG turned the game into x-wing MCP and the new group that is taking over is going to push 2.5 and continue to push players away.
Why would it push players away? I;ve never played 2.0. reading about it it has rule si don't really like. I've been playign 2.5 and enjoying it so far. The only thing i'm, nmot keen on is the way selecting loadouts and ships work. 2.0 looks bette rthere BUt BOTh games have issues with ships not being allowed thing they can use IN CANON so i'm probably gonna just ignore both and maybe make my own loadout list. Things like teh Head hunter literally having missile tubes on the model but not allowed to have missiles is so silly.
@@kudosbudo They completely changed the rules, gameplay and list building. Almost everyone I know that switched to 2.5 would go back to 2.0 in a heartbeat if given the choice. The only problem is the new design team will continue down the same path that destroyed the game.
I will never invest in Legion, it’s just a matter of time before they abandon that game and community. Battletech, is one of those games that been around for 40 years. Good enough for me. F ass-modee and AMG. FFG was ruined by them.
Yet another game I’m interested in at some point! Although I hope Legion will still be around.
After gong back to X-wing from battletech i really wish battletech had dials and manuevers. Its movement systems in classic AND alpha strike is kinda bad, unless you enjoying making conga lines.
