    Just returned from my first mining exploit in an Asp explorer, ok, but limited. Now I have enough to swap to this wee beastie and get going to bigger things. Watching this has helped me decide on this way forward. Thanks for the info.

    Pity you didn't actually go mining. Firing your lasers outside the station just doesn't cut it for a demonstration.

  • @KirstenBayes
    @KirstenBayes Před 7 lety +2

    Really appreciated this. Looking forward to bringing back my trusty Type 7. Big fan of bi weave shields and mine launchers as part of the trader/miner defensive package, when power is the limiting factor (as it is also on Type 6s, for example).

    • @KirstenBayes
      @KirstenBayes Před 7 lety

      Alas I sold it for the Python, and never went back to it. I must say though Type 6 and Type 7 trading runs and loops were still the best fun I had in the game.

    @Hedgehobbit Před 7 lety +4

    The one change I'd recommend is to put your collector limpets in the same firegroup as your mining lasers. That way, whenever you start shooting at the asteroid, you'll automatically launch limpets and whenever a limpet expires, you'll immediately launch another if your holding down the fire button to fire your mining lasers (which you usually do). Saves time switching back and forth between fire groups.
    Also, you can use multiple collector limpet controllers to stack limpets. I think my mining Python has 7 limpets out at a time, two 3s and a 5.

    I have just recently got into mining and got a t7 a rated 224 tons cargo and loving it. Harma A7 great mining and 1 jump away also great ice mining.

    I use a T7 for miner, and it's great. Perfect for the one hour play windows I have. A good metal ring will see you with 1m per cargo load in around an hour. Can recommend. Mine even has 5 kills to its name from the mines.

    Nice setup for the type 7 but I got a type 9 fitted for mining and it's great at it.

  • @jasongardner3206
    @jasongardner3206 Před 7 lety

    I used this build to the T (minus the engineer mods), but still had enough power to use turret burst lasers for defense (only had to make FSD priority 2 in power to do so lol)
    Got to say I love my Type 7. Done everything with it. Missions, Mining, Trading, Exploring... Well not everything, it can't bounty hunt.

    It needs a double medium hardpoint option to make it a miner now.

    I know this is old but in order to be a true miner for the T7 it needs a seismic charge launcher in its lineup

      ALSO (and this is important) the BEST Prospector! A rated actually gives you more (the most) materials from any rock, any place. Places also affect yields.

  • @kempo79
    @kempo79 Před 6 lety

    I use it as a mining ship either. But i don't care much about pirates and stuff, my ship is 100% miner with 8 collector limpets, 3 mining lasers, little jump range and so on. Gotta install one mine launcher tho'.

  • @johndegnan5703
    @johndegnan5703 Před 7 lety

    Thats a good 2nd step miner, (first step being a Type 6 miner, which I started mining with). I used a AspX for my 2nd step miner, its ALOT more maneuverable than the Type 7 (which is needed for going between tight-packed rocks) , can use Class 2 Mining lasers, and the remaining 4 Class 1 hardpoints gave me enough firepower to take out most NPC's that interrupt me. Its drawbacks is that its expensive, when kitted out was low in storage, and finally its Class 4 Distributor was NO WHERE big enough to feed the Class 2 Mining lasers, so I has to stop often. But it was a good enough until I earned enough to purchase my Python miner.
    And I LOVE my Python miner.
    coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/python?code=A0pstkFflidussf51e1e7l2m2m030300040505B1040420C0C0P4.Iw18eQ%3D%3D.Aw18eQ%3D%3D.&bn=Python%20Miner.
    None of it is modified, yet I can pull 3-5 Mill or more an outing (depending on what mining missions payouts I have and how lucky I was in finding some good Painite or LTD rocks). The Class 7 Distributor is MORE than enough to keep the Class 2 mining lasers fed, It has 192 tons of cargo space (or less. sometimes when I want a fast mining session when I don't have alotta time, so I trade one class 5 cargo for a Class 5a collector limpet controller for a total of 7 collecter limpets. That's fast collecting baby) The remaining 3 Class 3 weapons is FAR enough to take out 99% of any pirate NPC's that dare to desire my cargo.
    TLDR: Get a Python ASAP. You will NOT regret it.

    I just went for this ship and build when I got my profit of the exploration data going from Sol to Colonia - It works extremely well - but a demonstration in field would have been nice.

    Love the video but i have to ask ..... where is the fuel scoop you put on EVERY ship?? Worth it or not for loss of cargo space?

    • @CommanderChaosWulff
      @CommanderChaosWulff  Před 7 lety

      +William Tessier if you're running a trade ship and you can make it between your target stations without then leave it off as you'd make more profit off the cargo that what you would save in fuel.

    My t7 has 258 cargo I don't run shields and I have 1D prospect cuz I only feel a need for 1 prospector but I have 3 collectors don't remember the specific size and class for collectors I have and I have a 6 bin refinery cuz that's all I need

      Aye that can be tough, I'll have to make a tutorial for it but it's been so long since I used a K/M for Elite, I got my first flight stick about 1 week after I started playing.

    • @TheGrogin13
      @TheGrogin13 Před 7 lety +1

    Is there a reason why you don't have the chaff launchers mapped in a fire group?

    • @guspm9689
      @guspm9689 Před 7 lety +3

      He probably have a hotkey mapped to launch it. In my config i press "C" to launch the chaffs.

    • @deathanimate
      @deathanimate Před 7 lety +1

      If you use VoiceAttack or something similar then you can set a hotkey and use VA to launch the chaff.

    • @CommanderChaosWulff
      @CommanderChaosWulff  Před 7 lety +2

      As already stated by the others in the thread, I have it bound to ha hotkey on my throttle, same with my shield cells, chaff and so on :)

    Play on the PS4. Anyone else having snags getting the lasers to cut chunks off asteroids. Got my set up same as what’s in this video. Lasers fire but don’t cut in it surface of asteroid then they stop working. Anyone got any ideas why it does this.

    so is mining in this ship more profitable than trading now?

    • @d00mg4ze
      @d00mg4ze Před 7 lety

      I would argue that it was always a good miner. I think ChaosWulff's build is for resource sites, where danger crops up fairly often. However, the best way I've found is to avoid the RES' entirely, and just drop in at a random point along the belt. Indeed, if you do this, you probably wouldn't even need a big shield generator, just boost away from the two or three random spawns that show up every time you appear on grid (note; this also happens when you log back into the game while in an asteroid belt.)
