5 CHEAP and EASY Mods for your FIRST CAR!

So in today's video I decided to share with you what I think are 5 cheap and easy mods for your first car!
These don't have to be only for your first car, anyone can do these to any car, for example the majority of the mods I show you I think I will be doing to every car I own from now on!
I just know that from experience, when you get your first car, if you're a car guy or gal, you just want to go crazy modifying it to personalize it and make it your own, and 9 times out of 10, money can be quite tight, especially if you are 17 and have just passed!
So I compiled a list of mods that are pretty damn cheap (most expensive mod rocks in at around 30-40 quid, the rest are all around 10 quid!) AND are not going to affect your insurance whatsoever!
DISCLAIMER
A lot of people can be quite wary when it comes to modifying their cars, so if you are seriously in doubt, always give your insurance a ring and just double check with them that you're all good to do the mod you want. There would be nothing worse than doing a mod, not telling your insurance then needing to make a claim and they void your insurance because of the mod. Plus you could get in serious trouble for it, because you COULD essentially be driving without insurance, and I'm afraid that's pretty illegal lol.
I would argue that these aesthetic mods are not going to be any danger to your insurance, its only really when you start making performance modifications, in which case you should ALWAYS notify your insurance!

Now that we got that out of the way, I hope you enjoy the video, and find some inspiration to start modifying your car, there's nothing more satisfying that looking back at your car after a mod and saying, I did that. That's MY car.

The guys who say crap about him most likely are 15 y.o kiddos who don't even own a car, or even have a driver's licence.
Great list, my guy. These are some of the first things we would do back in the day when we were 17 years old.
I'd add colour-coding your trim to the list, too, while you have the spray cans out. Ugly grey plastic is a major no-no on the Wickes car park!
Aftermarket head and tail lights after that. Usually it's just a few screws and they're plug and play.
Another little mod I’ve found are Tire pens, you can use them to paint parts of your tire white, generally lasts for about a year, and looks like you have very expensive tires. Just adds a little bit of detail, one of my personal favourites.

Personally, i'd keep my first car unmodified, I like the "originality" of it being unmodified. However, I really like those wind deflectors. They enable you to get some fresh air even when its raining. Good video though.

Non standard paint work
Stickers
It could be said these are classed as a modification from a factory set up of the car or alters the look/perception of such vehicle.
Thus if you had a nice RS3 your going to be happy as, looks wise!
I would say getting metal number plate and holder!
Change bulbs for number plate to feston/LEDs
Gear knob and gaiter
Arm rest
Anything stereo wise as most insurance give you up to a rack worth of ICE mods!
Metal or gel plates are a good shout go be fair, LED upgrades I agree yeah. To be fair mate I think if I make another one of these the majority if them will probably get in lol
Just got the car washed, heading down the A127, I see stickers.. for charities in people's back windows.. like that should be fine really. Maybe the insurance point is stickers.. like graphics on doors.. maybe!

yeah I subbed this boi. I got a 57reg Subaru Justy 1L. snazzy little bean it is. And I am definitely considering the windbreaks and sun strips. But not very soon though... spent quite a bit on new brakes and tyres recently lmao.

Ive got some ideas, some are like a bit obvious but il make a list of what ive done/planning
•gel plates, led number plate lights, gear knob, maybe some speakers if thats your thing, tinted rear lights, dust caps (obvs) paint your rocker cover or air box aswell to spruce up the engine bay :)
Just bought a MK7 Fiesta and I’m thinking of what I could do that wouldn’t affect insurance, so this video helped!

Got a Mazda 3 and definitely going to do some of these! Quick question, will insurance companies be bothered about these because they’re quite minimal mods? Or should I just go for it
Don't think they will be too bothered over these if I'm honest. I mean I always recommend declaring, or at the very least checking just to be safe. But if you didn't want to mess about I'm sure these would be okay.

@@gazza9919 my GF has the 1.25, very comfortable cruiser haha the seats and springs are so soft can't feel any pot holes haha. Sounds like a bombs gone off when I hit one in the ST 😂

R23 OWL my first car is an mx5 which the only mods I have are coilovers, intake and it came with a decat but I’m not going to call accessories like a gear stick a mod

I got some black wrap and wrapped the silver seat badges and silver grill I have the ibiza sport with the body kit I think the black badges finish off the front
Change all inside bulbs to LED and same with reg lights, and 4d or 3d gel plates
My first mod for my car was a remapped ecu that brought my car from 155bhp to 201Bhp, now I got it to 230bhp with a new Turbo
I have an Alfa Romeo giliuetta and it has 176bhp right now (2011)

Great Vid mate and gotta agree. Did the same with mine but i threw a K&N panel filter in as my first cheap mods. Might not give big gains but the throttle response is noticeable and you get a little intake noise. Painted my mk6 interior console matt black and replaced the stock stereo with a Pioneer DAB stereo which for me transformed the interior and sound as radio and music off spotify sounded noticeably better. Might not have been a cheap mod but was worth it.
Also wrapped my roof too which i got from the inspiration of the Red edition Zetec S which i thought looked really good, around £40 quid for a 1.5 wide and 2 meter long roll delivered. Wasn't easy but it was my first car so wasn't bothered 😂. Came out really good with only 2 little air bubbles that i could see when really looking for them. And did everything else you did too 👌

Oh yeah man I used to have a double din Sony unit in my last car and that was all I changed yet there was a HUGE difference in sound quality!

For a cheap mod, just drill 2 small holes in your exhaust back box, makes it crackle at 4K+ revs when you release gas😂👌🏼
Yeah i guess that is a cheaper way to get the sound without a full exhaust system 😭😂

R23 OWL got a mk 4 corsa limited edition the grill is already a glossy black but there’s a massive chrome Vauxhall’s badge so I sprayed it the chrome round the fog lights and the badge at the back aswell as the chrome badges on the wheels so it’s all black and white
Where did you get the Ford emblems, I can only find f150 size emblems online.

Good thing with that is you can keep it for any future car, it’s really an investment so make sure you just get one you will forever like
On my car's I like to start changing the lights to LED. Autobeam are the go to for me.
Another thing if possible and a stealth performance thing is if there are any factory variances of your engine you could improve your engine from the parts found on the higher performance version of your engine. An example I can give is my fiesta zetec s has a 1.6 diesel engine with 90hp. The focus came with the same engine but with 110hp. The difference between the two is the injectors and turbo from my understanding. I could get the 110 injectors and turbo plus with a map can take it up to 145hp

That's because this is a mk6 fiesta which I don't think was released in America, only the mk7

@@Joe-rd5qn mega easy. I just got the gaiter off amazon for a tenner without the plastic ring that clips it in place. If yours is fine just use that one. Unscrew the gear knob un clip the plastic ring and swap the gaiter over. The one I got had elastic at the top to hold it in place so no need for cable ties,then screw the gear shift back on. Took all of five mins.

Nah, I haven't, and I'm sure almost nobody has rang insurance go ask if they are aloud wind deflectors. In wouldn't worry about that mate, when you start changing things what affect driving, then id call them. Just remember mate, if you're ever in doubt, give em a shout. Doesn't hurt to play it safe and check when it comes to mods 👍🏻

first mod ive done for my car is seats :)
but found that one of the rails is broken so I plan on buying a cheap chair to hopefully rip that one out and put it on my new one and then hopefully I can fit them.
but who knows if my car will pass its mot in a few months

Yes it’s mad how much it goes up by just for seats so I ended up getting seat covers

I wouldn't bother mate, that's not really an insurance affecting mod. Your call at the end of the day, I'm not gonna definitively say you shouldn't, the decision is yours at the end of the day haha, but me personally, I wouldn't bother!
