Not gonna lie, I'm in top set English and this video has helped me out infinitely more than any lesson our teacher has forced on us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I know this is a late comment but I completed my GCSEs in 2022, I was predicted a grade 4 but thanks to you I got a grade 6, I respect you so much and everyone reading this you should support mr salles as he is a legend
It was "fear and danger", I wrote about the two sides to Jekyll's house and good and evil and how it went against Victorians thinking which created fear. Also, I wrote about the "Caper" and talked about how Enfield is more evil than Hyde and tried to link it to danger (honestly can't remember what I put) and then obviously wrote a lot about Darwin's theory, I don't know if this was the best idea and I want your opinion on if this all would get marks.
I know we're asking for alot, but could you make one on a Christmas carol? I'm trying to have your creative insight on the book with predictions, I really liked your Macbeth one
Hey sir!! I really like your videos so I was wodneing if you cvould do predictions for romeo & juleit, love and relaytionshjips and also lord of the flies??? thanks man!! you're a life saver and you ROCK!!
Mr salles for if a question comes upon the character of Lanyon could you also use ''unscientific bolderdash'' and suggest that this shows that Lanyon does not believe in the works of science showing his hate for Jekyll's scientific experiments.
i would love a question on evil, its easy to talk about all the characters, however i have a strong feeling that mr utterson could come up, which would be really good too since you can talk about hypocrisy and secrecy/homosexuality. either way i love jekyll and hyde and i get grade 9s so i should be good no matter what + i followed all of your guides/videos to get the best quote analysis's! thank you Mr Salles you are a savior
Hi sir! Could you say that since Hyde is constantly referred to with religious imagery even though he is a scientific creature considered an “ape” compared to the modern man that society naturally downplays the effects of science/ are fearful of it. However, Stevenson alternatively showcases that scientists like Landon and Jekyll have their own flaws so the fears of the society, and thus the reader as well, are unfounded? idk if that makes complete sense, would that work?
I personally disagree that Mr Hyde does not have intention to deliberatly hurt her. "Trampled" describes a powerful relentless action and has connotations of herds of animals stampeding and trampling with an unstoppable force. However as it is juxtaposed with the adverb "calmly", it suggests that Hyde has no compulsion over harming the child therefore forgrounding how callous he is. This brutal incident foreshadows the violence and evil that Hyde continous to display throughout the novel. How can I fit in context and writers intentions in this analysis?
if you dont know its called the lombroso theory where they believe that your appearance dictated whether or not you're evil (he has traits of being troglodytic and is short in stature which is one of the points of being evil, and physiognomy says that your apperance shows your personality)
thank you so much. you talk in other videos about preparing one really key theme and linking it to any question (like poverty or ignorance and want in ACC) could you make a video about how to do this
The question was on how Stevenson used setting to create fear and something in the novel. This was pretty difficult and I forgot to talk about the extract so I’m capped at 10 for that essay :(
I'll be honest i don't think it's that deep didn't he write the book on a 3 day morphine binge Stevenson was never an atheist. At most, he became a skeptic of his branch of organised religion: February 15, 1878, the 27-year-old wrote to his father and stated: Christianity is among other things, a very wise, noble and strange doctrine of life

Very funny
I never had to do the book but it’s fascinating watching the analysis of it
hi sir, you’re an absolute lifesaver in the run in to the lit exam on monday. could you possibly do the merchant of venice?
I know we're asking for alot, but could you make one on a Christmas carol? I'm trying to have your creative insight on the book with predictions, I really liked your Macbeth one

So these quotes, are they just quotes on evilness or do they fit every question cause it says they do but they all talk about something being evil
That’s brilliant
Sounds interesting
Please can someone clear up this confusion for me. In his example essay he uses little language techniques, would you not be marked down for this?
I personally disagree that Mr Hyde does not have intention to deliberatly hurt her.
"Trampled" describes a powerful relentless action and has connotations of herds of animals stampeding and trampling with an unstoppable force. However as it is juxtaposed with the adverb "calmly", it suggests that Hyde has no compulsion over harming the child therefore forgrounding how callous he is. This brutal incident foreshadows the violence and evil that Hyde continous to display throughout the novel.
How can I fit in context and writers intentions in this analysis?
it shows his violence so you can just link it to the christian audience's judgement on how anything ugly was evil (im not sure about this)
if you dont know its called the lombroso theory where they believe that your appearance dictated whether or not you're evil (he has traits of being troglodytic and is short in stature which is one of the points of being evil, and physiognomy says that your apperance shows your personality)
@@ppsword8046 a similar idea to the picture of dorian gray

can we link utterson saying "I incline to cain's heresy" to how he doesn't stop Jekyll and help him or gives the evidence to authorities

it has been updated and the link is now in description
how do i apply this into an essay?
The question was on how Stevenson used setting to create fear and something in the novel. This was pretty difficult and I forgot to talk about the extract so I’m capped at 10 for that essay :(
Please could you do romeo and juliet 2024 prediction
Hi sir, what would you say for the concluding paragraph?
I think you would just repeat your thesis and sum up your points

please frankenstein mr salles (or lord of the flies)
Lord of the flies prediction pls?
if i only know the quotes from this video would i be fine?
hi sir , is this enough quotes for any question that may come up?
Yes, if you watched till the end
does this apply to edexcel english literature? great videos btw, helping me a lot !!
Applies, but not as a prediction
is this for aqa?
is there any chance that the question could be on lanyon
I don’t think there would be enough just for a whole question on him
why do you say that your answer is free when you need to be a paid subscriber to see the whole thing?
Can I memorise all this by next. Monday?
I don’t know, can you?
If you sit and think about this for 20 mins and conclude that you can’t, then what? Will you just not revise then? People ask such useless questions.
I'll be honest i don't think it's that deep didn't he write the book on a 3 day morphine binge

What if everyone writes the same essay? Does the exam board care?
it’s not likely to be word for word and it’s not exactly cheating so i wouldn’t worry
these are all common quotes that most essys will have anyway
What exam board?
aqa
is this for aqa?
Yes
