hi Adam, im trying to think of a Star Wars prop I would like to have, maybe Luke Lightsaber, or R2 D2 robot, maybe the yoda puppet dont really know Bobba Fett helmet let me think about it what is your favorite Star Wars prop Adam?
website wont let you look at the items for auction? unless your a genuine registered bidder.
@@inspectorcal Just click on the "Browse Online Catalog" button and here they are. :) Or download catalog PDF file if you want it offline.
... you were degloved...
They should add to the listings: "Also drooled on and fondled by Adam Savage" :)
Was anyone else nervous watching Adam holding the Chewie mask?
I’m always nervous when he’s handling things. I think the the auctioneer was too… and no gloves?
Yep. He shouldn’t have done that. Let the rep with the gloves do that.
@@lach808 The auctioneer told him he could and even handed him some of the items. It is weird that they didn't have him use gloves. You would think that would be an easy thing to give him.
he almost dropped that saber
Yes the guy with white gloves was very nervous. Adam is not good at reading people or doesn’t care to read people I can see.
Damn i wish they talked about the pulse rifle and vader helmet.
ditto
Don't worry I read the catalogue! It's not an original helmet to the films, it was a touring helmet that was taken around the US to cinemas in the 80s. So still very cool, but I can understand why they didn't feature it
By the looks of it that's a stunt pulse rifle. Not checked the catalogue but the hero props are really rare with only 2 or possibly 3 surviving and one is in my home city of Leeds at the Royal Armouries.
@@AaronGood Ah ok. Yeah I was gonna say, it looked too nice to be an original. Those are pretty ragged now.
@@repletereplete8002 Oh so we need to get on Ian McCollum to get it out the next time he visits.
I love Adam's flesh toned protective gloves. Really had ne fooled for a bit, nice.
Thor would deem him worthy.
…and Adam scratches nose, picks up mask…
@@Scottotronia Or wears gloves, adjusts glasses
he's touching the foam thing under it not the mask
Adam has built so many of these models with his bare hands, I doubt the fact he has no gloves on even registers with him.
damn, That Chewy piece is literally falling apart as they moved it.
They do that. If you're into masks, check out some of the short form documentaries about Slipknot and their masks and just how fast they turned to scraps.
DR DOOOM IS IN THE ROOOOM
Hahaha - the Host was like "FUUUUUUUUUCK" and CAMERA man was like "FUUUUUUUUUCK"....and Adam is all "HANDS ON!!! CHEWY!!!"
@@BlutigeTranen look up the original terminator prosthetic they used for the eyeball scene. It's all puffy and falling apart too.
Surprised they didnt have Adam wear gloves
I was so lucky to meet peter Mayhew outside of conventions or signings. Just turned up to work one day and he was lounging around in my boss's house, had lunch with him and chatted about all sorts. was difficult to eat with my jaw on the floor, i was utterly starstruck. Amazing guy, so chill, so pleasent, absolute legend.
Lucky! Must have been amazing.
You capping
I love how interested this guy is in what Adam has to say, shows how his knowledge is quite special
I was just thinking this, glad to see a comment reflect that; I saw Brandon ask Adam: "What do you think?" which just showed how much he deferred to Adams expertise in prop making, and so cool to witness.
I like how the lightsaber handles are nice and slim unlike the earlier movies where they sometimes seem thick and clunky.
I agree, the thin hills make the most sense and made way better duels, thats why I'm keeping an eye on this company youtube.com/@stuntsaberuniversity4942?si=gb5mxwoZvcQmsjuY
"These lightsabers are really lite, here do you want t-"
"YES!"
As an avid collector, every time he touched and swung it around:
"Dude!! What are you doing!!"
With chills, mind you.😄
*starts doing jedi moves*
Proceeds to balance it on his finger and it almost rolls off. What was he thinking?

@@oosmosmoo he swung it around like a master
Each item now gets a little placard: as handled by Adam Savage
I chuckle as it goes from gloved hands to savage hands... "oh sure, yeh you can put your mits all over it"
I am still surprised that hear that he worked for George Lucas at one point.
@@TummaDemoni ILM… ILM… ILM!
Screw this dude. Y'all idolizing living humans us pathetic
You've got to appreciate cosplayers so much when you see props like this. Everything looks so good on screen, and cosplayers always look a bit low budget and silly. But really, when you see the actual props that were on screen you realise that the cosplayers gear is probably way more detailed and well made than the actual props. They just have the benefit of movie magic on their side.
Movie stuff is made fast and only supposed to last for the duration of filming. Fans making their own costumes and props put more effort in them and obviously want them to last. That said any fan made stuff will also look like it's falling apart in 30-40 years.
Weta workshop's work on Lord of the Rings was basically all the passion of a manic cosplayer, supported with the budget and materials to create masterpieces. The pieces made for LoTR look like genuine works of art from antiquity.
Just watched an Adam & Fon reminiscence, where they discussed the prop ethos that if it falls apart as it's removed from the stage, end of shooting, you did just the right amount of work.
Same episode they discussed how that ethos isn't supported on big fanbase sequels (possibly more generally) because there's now an expectation of exhibitions, collection & history that wasn't there back when.
Both expectations exist in the cosplay space, but better, higher cost always comes with details & durability expectations.
Ah, yes. Surely the dollar store Skiff Lando cosplay is better made than the actual set of armor he wore.. No, no, you're right. You're right.
@@SpaceEmperorGenos No, serious cosplayers make the stuff themselves.
Another great episode of Adam man handles rare props and terrifies the curator
That little gasp at 4:35 when Adam is offered the lightsaber is fantastic. That is such a childlike reaction and is one of the reasons I love watching your stuff Adam. You have always had that sense of wonder and excitement that is contagious. It was one of the reasons I loved Mythbusters and why I continue to watch Tested.
Would loved to have had a better look at the Imperial Royal Guard helmet
ME TOOOOOOO!!!!!
Honestly the child like glee Adams face displays when he gets to see things like this is amazing. Especially with all he's already seen and the work he did in film. When the bloke reached for Landos helmet the way Adams eyes and face lit up was exactly how I'd imagine any fan would be and I love he's still like that despite all he's seen.
Absolutely love this. Going to miss Peter and And Angie at Star Wars Celebration. Thank you for the awesome childhood memories PETER🙏🏽🤎
NEARLY WRECKED THE CINEMA WHEN I THOUGHT THEY WROTE OFF CHEWIE IN EP 9 !!!
0:35 It just starts falling apart right when Adam touches it lmao
The value just INCREASED because Adam Savage's fingerprints are now on these iconic props!!!
I could listen to Adam talk about movie props forever. His passion really seems genuine.
The look on the Brandon’s face when Adam starts spinning the lightsaber. 😂
Very odd seeing the Anakin saber with a red “blade” and Obi-Wan’s looks more like Luke’s from ROTJ. I guess they did this to help differentiate between them because having two blue “blades” spinning around and clashing into each other would be harder to track while adding in the effects in post.
Its funny you say Obi Wans looks like Lukes ROTJ lightsabre, because Lukes ROTJ sabre is actually a repaint of Obi Wans ANH sabre.
@@Cowboy1138 For the ones used in duels with blades yes they were the same prop. The "Hero" one was machined. The Ep5 Vader hilts were lost or stolen and they converted the Luke Ep5 hilts to look like Vader hilts for Ep6.
@@chamoo232 its been confirmed with plenty of evidence that the belt hanger for Vader in ROTJ was the same belt hanger from ESB. This isn't new news.
@@jeremydrew1227 But one of the Vader hilt is completely different than the ANH and ESB one. The stunt duel one probably. They modified the Luke graflex from ESB. Basically made a black clamp and a black emitter and added big black screws on the body.
@@chamoo232 yes the one Graflex dueling saber that got mislabeled as the ROTJ hero. Its seen at the end of the duel.
0:37 some fragile piece from the left eye shifts while holding it upwards and Adam totally notices. His reaction to the camera is priceless.
Seeing Adam geek out is so relatable but then you remember that Adam literally helped create the prequels. Makes you really appreciate how excited he still gets with prop and FX history
I have to enjoy these items vicariously through Adam Savage, thank you
Peter Mayhew was one of the nicest people I have ever met and had a great memory for fans he remembered seeing me before when I saw him at a second con.
Adam Savage is THE singular reason I feel comfortable embracing my inner nerd and engaging in hobbies others might think are strange or esoteric. His enthusiasm about making and enjoying the process and the tangible results of making fill me with confidence, joy, and gratitude. I don't think Adam gets enough credit for inspiring generations of people to build, to make, to indulge in their interests, to learn, and to be themselves. Adam Savage is a real national treasure. Thank you, Adam. You are directly why I'm a model maker, the owner of a 3-d printer, an Indiana Jones uber-fan, and why I know most of what I know about building processes, the scientific method, and how to be enthusiastic about my interests without creating judgement.
Any interview/showcase with Brandon is an adventure. Dude’s got great taste and incredible resources
It absolutely blows my mind that Adam got to work on star wars films. And is also a huge fan.
My prized Star Wars prop is an ESB Vader Helmet gifted to me from a friend in the 501st. It’s a bit scratched up but it is an incredible replica. Actual size and (supposedly) accurate to the original mold from ESB.
you nerding out in these videos, are certainly the best thing i have ever seen! Keep being you Adam, we love you
This was so cool!! Thanks for sharing this Adam!
True story: I came across a Starwars (A New Hope) poster that was genuine. Apparently used back in the day from a theater, and the video distributors would get posters from the studios to re-purpose for display. I was able to snag it (staple/pin holes in corners) and frame. It is a Type A-Sheet. Also, some years back, won an ebay auction for a Revenge of the Jedi poster (unfolded-no creases-shipped to me rolled) that was from an actual Lucas Films employee. Printed out the email correspondence and keep with the poster. FYI- Most of the folded Revenge of the Jedi posters were those of Starwars Fan Club members. Never interested in props but I can see the desire. May the Force be with You and Adam too!
that C-3PO prototype is from episode V. i would love to have that. $18000 right now, and auction just got started.
Speaking as someone who works in a museum: It gives me anxiety seeing how close Adam's getting with that un-gloved pointing finger.
look closely! he's actually wearing flesh-toned gloves
It makes me sad this won't be in one collection anymore.
I really wish they would just make a star wars museum with ALL the props and make it a long tour thing. Would've been a gold mine for whoever had the collection of props
On one hand, yeah. On the other, it just means the one guy who was hiding it in their collection is selling it to another guy hiding it in their collection. Either way, we never really get to see it again.
@@kazikoFPV I know Lucasfilm does have an archive in a warehouse where they keep a ton of stuff (I think it even has the Jabba puppet). I'm not sure how open it is to the public but I know for some stuff like the new Battlefront games or Rogue One they'll let people scan the props and whatnot for accuracy.
@@cake1661
That Jabba puppet is in a poor sad state as it was made with a foam rubber skin. The one we get to see in exhibitions is not the original Jabba, alas. He's gone the same way as the ET puppets - All three!
@@kazikoFPV Isn't that what George Lucas Museum is all about?
The guy almost fainted when he was eyeballing Adam balancing the lightsaber on one finger haha
Meah, he's a fencer so he's very comfortable with a saber and the balance on those was perfect.
Thanks for showing these!! :) Awesome stuff!
Should be in a museum.
THAT is an M41A pulse rifle. Ten millimeter with over-and-under thirty millimeter pump action grenade launcher. C'mon Adam, I wanna see it!
Hopefully in another video. They likely shot a couple.
I didn't even see it until I read your comment! I can't believe I missed it. Thanks for pointing it out :) A good frame can be see at 0:32
Jeez.
Was thinking the same thing. How could you not want to have a feel of that iconic weapon.
Its a bug hunt.
This video is not long enough!!!! 😫 I can watch this stuff forever!
How absolutely amazing. All of it.
Yeah, Chewbacca, look at him in the cantina scene, and look at his eyes, I am nearly 57 and i don't question it, at all. A great (!) actor in all aspects of this iconic beeing.

Aww I wanted them to talk about the R2 unit :D
They didn't talk about alot of things. Mostly rambled on about stuff not even related to what was being shown. This episode was a bummer. I was so stoked when I saw the title
@@kazikoFPV I disagree on that 😅
@@kazikoFPV I don't understand what the rush was...
hi to find the star, wars special effects is so amazing to see. good on you Adam.
Like how the curator held Chewbaca's head with one hand after Adam didn't put it on it's mount correctly. :) Good Job!
Peter Mayhew and David Prowse were the "Gentle Giants" of Star Wars! :D
I definitely have to look into the Lando helmet/mask because I was right at the end of buying action figures when that came out but got that one for the helmet.Probably the last one I bought and it was removable and I loved it for some reason.Might have to own that.
That case behind them is literally my damn childhood!!! Star Wars! Start Ship Troopers! Star Trek, ALIENS!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
The Star Wars stuff is amazing, but I couldn't help but be like 'woah' when I saw Robocop's flight pack behind Adam.
6:22 Adam Savage handled with gloves?! Yes - this is why the auction reserve for this Excellent piece has now gone UP in value… lol.
I love it! The guy has his little white gloves on to protect the mask and Adam just picks it up. The look of concern on the guy's face is priceless.
This Belongs In A Museum!

Tom Spina is a cool guy. I worked with him making the blasters/holsters for the Life Size Boba Fett Project. Super talented.
Adam Savage was very knowledgeable on Star Wars props. And I thought he was some sort of super nerd who read up on everything only realize that he designed some of the pieces. I learn something new everyday.
i noticed the starship troopers props on the bottom shelf, epic film.
I loved that story about Peter Mayhew's performance with that mask. How light and fragile it is... looking at it is now makes me wince. But who'd have thought it would last almost half a century onwards? Lotta history.

I met Peter and enjoyed a dinner with him with my wife and a couple of other friends. Peter was the nicest person, such a gentleman too. As we were leaving later on, Peter stuck out his hand for a goodbye, didn't have too but he genuinely wanted to say goodbye. They just don't make friendly nice guys like they used to. Gutted when he passed.
I wish that I knew how to make one of those prop sabers for dueling.
It seems like a usable piece in films and made for sturdy dueling.
Check out Ultra Sabers, they offer a variety of blades from display ones to ones rated for duels.
Yeah, Hell Nah. Ultrasabers have trash customer service, and they give you 3 days to decide if your gonna return it as apposed to the 30 day usual return window,
Also, if you decide you don’t want it and you cancel your order…they take 20% of your payment because of “Inconvenience”
Ultrasabers have good sabers, but an overall trash company.
Great video. I wish I had been fortunate enough to have met Mr Mayhew but alas not. However I did meet Tim Rose and Alan Harris and got to chat with them. I mentioned to Mr Harris that during his scene on the star destroyer bridge in ESB that I noticed he wasn't just standing there but was acting and moving . I said "I loved that glare and threatening stance you took looking down at that Imperial Officer on the deck below you" to which he replied, "Yes but the camera mics didn't pick up the sound I made"...and he proceeded to adopt the stance and let out a fantastic reptilian "HISS!" noise. It was magic to see him share that with me. The masked, unsung unseen hearts of Star Wars.
Man, Adam is just great.
Lightsaber used for dueling in the films… YES PLEASE!!
I never forget how my film school teacher just did not get the idea why it would be beneficial to build a simple 3D models for blocking, when translating from storyboard to the scene... specially when access to that place is limited.. he just didn't get it, and later when working him on set i kind of realized why... cause he did not plan that far ahead and all the stuff we did, didn't follow the storyboard at all in the end. But, of course, he was even younger than me and did nothing but talk about black and white 35mm, tungsten lamps and obsolete methods. Having a well planned shoot was not part of his method..
It is the difference between making a product and making art. That is the problem with a lot of modern movies is that they try to make them so prefect every little flaw just jumps out.
This is amazing. :) Loved it!
Peter Mayhew was a true gent and Brought that Character to life, sadly missed.
Nickle plating and chrome plating on the light saber gave it the slight difference Nickle plating is slightly yellow a much softer warmer effect than chrome.
I get what he meant when he said that seeing Peter out of costume, you could SEE Chewie in him. I remember the first time I met Peter (probably about 20 years ago almost now), I saw him heading back to the signing area and his gate was Chewbacca’s walk exactly as silly as it seemed, the way he swung his arms, just the very movement itself WAS the character right there. Incredible.
I don't even know what to start....lol his face when he spins the lightsaber....🤣🤣🤣
Oh wow, didn’t know Adam was involved with Ep 1 and 2 👌🏼
The one thing I love most about Vader is seeing him without the mask and how claustrophobic and restricted that bottom mouth and neck piece is. It always looks cool in art and statues where he’s either super damaged and has taken it off or he’s just got it off and I wish he did that in the final kenobi episode where it gets damaged and you see his face but I wanted to see Hayden in the burn makeup and kenobi seeing what anakin looks like now.
That’s cool how they were all worn and used by the Actors
adam savage, you are such a cool human keep it up
Amen on the anodizing. I do it for a living and making colors match is a bloody nightmare!
I was lucky to meet him in Philadelphia back in 1997 Peter was genuinely a good person and embraced all his fans as friends

The fact Adam builds small-scale models of his own house to negotiate renovation details is somehow tremendously fascinating and completely understandable.
They have a costume from ELF. I know they're talking about Star Wars, but think about this for a moment: Jon Favreau was basically an unknown as a director for that film. They gave him a chance, and he churned out a modern classic. And then he went on to do Iron Man. If there was no Elf, there would be no MCU. If there was no Elf, there would be no Mandelorean.
That's a bit of a stretch my Guy. To say that Elf is the reason that the MCU exists much less another stamp in the ever expanding to the point of it just being tired Star Wars saga... Lmao c'mon. Granted Favreau came from acting to directing sure but to say that another director couldn't have done Iron Man? Credit where it's due yes of course as I do like him & his work but to say if it weren't for Elf we'd not have Iron Mando .... nah bruh just nah. Edit: also what put that movie on the map was Will Farrell so are you also saiyan that without Will there'd be no Avengers? That's kinda like saying without JJ Abrams there wouldn't have been a Star Trek reboot. And yes idc that I'm mentioning Star Trek in a Star Wars based video on a dudes comment about Elf lmfao. I get what you're going for but I just don't think it really rings true. Falls flat as my Abrams comparison
Brandon's hair is a work of art.
The Indi props were a joy, and now I see this video pop up! Don't mind if I do!
I like the starship trooper props that are mixed in.
The ultra rare stuff like Chewies’ face should not be for sale, the should be protected at all cost. They should be in the Smithsonian or even frozen in Carbonite.

The things I would do to swing around the Anakin stunt lightsaber
is that Robocop's prototype Jet pack from 1993s Robocop 3 in the corner? LOVE IT!
Met Peter at a convention , he has always been a cool person
They were stored in a big fish aquarium like display tank that were then donated to a non profit organization" united against poverty" for a fundraiser before being sold to a collector that happend to be coming through that area.
I always wondered about that saber emitter! You can see it clearly on Ep 3 when obi wan is standing over Ani on the separatists table right right before Anakin kicks Obiwan away. I always wondered why the heck Anakin was holding a weird lightsaber!
Adam is awesome love this channel !!!
Dude was so nervous while Adam was playing with it lol
….3:48 Adam says that Chewbacca is the greatest non-human character in film. I agree with that. I came to that conclusion late in the game. The first time I saw The Force Awakens I came to that conclusion, in fact.
Specifically, it was when Chewbacca literally witnesses the death of his best friend. He displays anger and grief, as anyone would…and then immediately makes a long range shot and does get a combat effective hit on his target. A true warrior.
The ORIGINAL Vader and Stormtrooper helmets were made at the Owens Corning Fiberglass factory in Wrexham Wales,UK.
Adam looks super excited
DAMN, This is so cool!!! Show my arm!!
the red imperial guard helmet was always a favorite.
Those Starship Troopers props below are also pretty great.
So amazing.
I would love to re create those light sabers.
I want that blue R-2 !
That pulse rifle 🔥🔥!!
Really cool stuff. I see there's also a nice arachnid blood spattered Starship Troopers body armor vest there and a Colonial Marines M41A Pulse Rifle. All that would look wicked on my shelves. But way out of my price range I'm sure.
Perfect timing. I'm just starting a biker scout build!
