Thank you so much for watching this. It's my favorite show. Yes, there is a second season already confirmed (it's coming out summer 2023) and it gets very very queer in a few episodes.
It is a very queer show, I promise. Just keep watching. It has a lot of heart towards the end, but plenty of silly shenanigans to get you there.
This show’s so much fun. And it really does keep building. By ep three I was completely hooked. And yes… queer representation and it’s not subtext, it’s just text. Yay gay pirates.
I have been absolutely obsessed with this show since March and I regularly check for new reactions to it (never enough of them 😁). The first few episodes are a little slower, to get us acquainted with the crew and it just gets more and more queer as it goes on!
Some fun facts:
-Young Stede is played by Theo Darby, the son of Rhys Darby, who plays Stede
-Show creator David Jenkins has a cameo in this episode as the British officer, who gets tea dumped in his lap and then gets his hands tied to the ores
-Season 2 actually wrapped filming on 13th of December

AHHHHHHH!!! I'm SO excited 1) to see you in general because I know things have been stressful lately ❤, and 2) that you're doing OFMD!! I absolutely fell IN LOVE with how much fun you started having with it as the video went on. Its a very cute little show that is hilarious, but also has a little action, a bit of romance, some subtle social commentary, and gets pretty heartfelt too. Not near enough reactors have watched it, and though It's not hugely popular in the mainstream, it does have a REALLY large and loyal fanbase, so I'll do my best to try and share this vid out on Twitter and Reddit in hopes they find you (they probably will anyways lol). They're going to love you for sure! :)

One of the most wonderful things I found out about this show, is that it's based on a true story. Stede Bonnet was in fact a real nobleman, who bought and paid for his pirate ship and his crew, and left his landowner nobleman life in England behind. Absolutely bananas.
I think my favorite true thing that made it from history to the show, is that Stede Bonnet actually did bring an entire library of books on his ship with him 😂🥰
Stede was actually not from England he was from Barbados, just like in the show 😊

Yeah, this is a very queer show. It starts out a little stealthy about it. So much so that some Conservative Christian web-sites were doing reviews of it, and they were counting how many curses there were per episode and talking about how it was a mostly appropriate show for young adults, according to their standards. And THEN, somewhere around episode 4 and 5, all those web-sites go silent. Because by that point, even the most head-in-the-sand-innocents couldn't miss how queer it was. Seriously, each episode gets more gay than the last.
Oh, and a lot of the lines of the lines are ad-libbed. For example, in that flag making scene, Kristian Nairn ("Wee John") says: "I used to make dresses with my mother", because, in fact, when he, the actor, was a drag queen, his mother used to help make his dresses.
I'm pretty sure Nathan Foad (Lucius) improvised the wooden boy voice bit, too 😆

If you're insistent on not finishing 'Black Sails' but are looking for another pirate show once we're up to date with "our Flag means Death', try 'The Lost Pirate Kingdom', not as funny, but has a lot of good info historically speaking (showing the hypocrisy, greed and cruelty of both the pirates and the government hunting them).
This is my favorite show, and I promise, it gets way more LGBTQIA+. I don’t think anyone on the Revenge is straight. You’ll see 😁
