@@frankmurray222 lol yeah I actually don’t smoke anymore lol.. but yeah that’s what the manual told me to do what I did never had any issues I sold the bike with 4,500mile on it last year now I been riding my gsx1100
@@XdisfunctionsX22 most of the manuals give different specs..for some reason 😂 with cg motors ticky valves are good valves....002 or .003 is where you wanna be though and for your initial break in with real oil should be changed around 150 miles to allow for the metallic to drain out from the moving parts getting to know each other
What would u adjust to at 1,000 miles. I bought it used at 350 and changed the oil from the break in oil immediately to Amsoil but I'm about to change the oil again and do the valve adjustment. It definitely needs it because it stutters at about 5 -6 rpm. It's broken in now tho.
Thanks for the video. We have 2 dlxs on the way. Just curios, did you find the valve lash to be completely tight when you first inspected it? I have seen many others saying the valves (new) ARE REALLY TIGHT.
Yeah I put 10 mile on it before I checked it... they were super tight but make sure your on compression stroke there are two T with lines one on compression Stroke the others not... but the valve lash specs and plug gap is all in the hand book that comes with the bike... also get rid of the torch spark plug it comes with and get a ngk one that made the biggest improvements for power was spark plug
Helpful video! I have about 45 miles on my DLX and will do the valves this weekend. I changed at about 4 miles to 15w40 Rotella T4, changed it again last night when I got home from work. Lots of silver from break-in. I installed the NGK plug already. I'm having issues with losing power though. I can be cruising and it bogs down, then comes back up and back down. Does it at different speeds and throttle positions. I'm hoping adjusting the valves will help with that. Its funny because most people put the aftermarket exhaust on for power and sound but I want to make the bike quieter without losing power. I didn't know how loud this was from the factory and I don't want to piss my neighbors off in the morning.
I feel ya man, same. I just bought a dlx and I'm having the same issues. Almost no power till I open the throttle till a certain point then BAM full power, but the second I let off it's like NO power. Did adjusting the valves help you out with your issues?
I have same exact engine. But a different bike. Same fuel injection and everything. Did you have issues with the header glowing red and the engine heating way too much? I need to adjust my valves today fuck
i just ordered a black dlx from Amazon.listing doesnt say what year model it is. but it doesnt have the "strongest" graphics on it... what year is yours?
Idle should be 1500 + or - 100 Valve lash should be .003 not gonna hurt anything to set them at .005 like you did but figured it was worth mentioning...it does vibrate because it’s solid mounted but it’s also not a counterbalanced engine...don’t let your chain slack go it will eat your chain slider...the throttle body can be swapped from a Honda for better flow
@@XdisfunctionsX22 no that’s very understandable brother...these manuals seem as if they all say so something different for whatever reason...even though they’re all the same Honda cg clone motors 🤷♂️ came up with a nice & easy ignition coil upgrade if your looking to make some more power I put a link to the coil in a quick video I made...hope you enjoy the bike! They’re really a fun little dual sport to own
Good info on the valve adjustment. the first time i checked mine was at 50 miles it was a little tight but not bad. i am going to check again tomorrow its now at about 230 miles. if i could just get ride of the surging at low throttle i would be happy.
@@XdisfunctionsX22 yeah i tried that. gonna get a new exhaust gasket next. the company i got it from said they will send me a new part if i find whats wrong.
