I enjoy--and own--both. These two are a good example of games that often get compared to one another due to mechanical similarities but are otherwise very different experiences--Mountain Goats/Level X isn't even really a push-your-luck game, it's more of a take-that dice game with elements of set collection. There's something universal about the love of gambling/pushing your luck, and that's why Can't Stop, quite possibly the simplest distillation of this mechanism other than maybe Blackjack, is still being played decades after its original publication (and will continue being played); Level X was all but forgotten before this most recent AllPlay edition, and will most likely fade a second time.

There if the same amount of press your luck on this vs can stop since neither can you re roll. But the fact that you can separate the dice into any amount of groups and You the number is not closed out right after someone gets to the top gives much more strategy

I've always seen the box, but never knew what it was about. Seeing that it's a Can't Stop replacement plus being portable, this looks like a game to look for. Thanks for the video!

I like Mountain Goats just fine and enjoy playing it with my kids. This is an area control game in my opinion, not a press your luck style game. Comparing it to an older popular game such as Can't Stop seems like a marketing move because I see very few similarities other than that they both use dice.

My favourite dice game right now is Gang of Dice. Knizia hit it out of the park with this one. Playing arena online on Boardgamearena.

I was wavering on this game, but your review had some great points that no one else has talked about. Can’t wait to pick it up now!❤

You sold me on it. I just bought a copy on Miniature Market, along with a few other games that are part of their Father's Day sale. Looking forward to playing it!

Looks fun but I think it’s apples and oranges with can’t stop since there is no press your luck.

There is definitely a press your luck element in Mountain Goats but the way it comes across is very different than in Can't Stop so they are different experiences for me.

The press your luck is the same since you can’t re roll. Now you get more control here being able to split into any amount of groups.

I wanted to love the game, but I was expecting some push your luck element :( I like everything about the game, a simple re-roll (Yahtzee style) would have done it for me to spice it up.

Interesting I always thought that 7 was the easiest/most probable to roll instead of 5 and 6.

With 2 dice it is, but you can split the dice into any combinations, so 5, or 6 is 33% on a single die
