Just because one of the characters is a priest does not mean they have license to blaspheme. This movie ended quicker than intended.

Martin Sheen and Chris Penn have two other films together, a short called Family Attraction (1998) in which they are the last nuclear family and another called Nobody's Heroes (1983). These could also become available, at least here on CZcams.
Great movie, thanks everyone involded!! BUT.... The hero of the story, an EX US Marine, must have been EX for quite a few years!! The actor is a bit fat in the jowls and has a bit of an expansive waistline to have been in the Marines recently!! Those guys tend to keep up their RIGOROUS training schedules YEARS after retirement, because that's who they ARE and forever WIIL be, UNITED STATES MARINE CORE TO THE CORE!!😂😂

The Roman Catholic Church has no need to go to the U.S. State Department at some lower level. The Pope, or his representative, can expect to be given an audience by the Secretary of State, if not by the President.
Nor would the U.S. Roman Catholic hierarchy be bereft of powerful political allies within Congress: both Representatives and Senators would, in a heartbeat, be delighted to appear on television talk shows to denounce U.S. inaction facing religious persecution of Catholics in Russia.
This movie conjures up a nonexistent world of weaponless clerics.

Someone familiar with the Bible, may find Reading the Scriptures in English a good way to learn English. But, I agree only an idiot would see the English language as a symbol of Freedom.
A group of Franciscans however, might attempt to handle their own affairs when attempting to smuggle treasures outside of their country it might not be safe to let the Vatican in on the deal.
The 1990's was a rather lawless time in Russia immediately after the fall of Comunisim, as I understand it President Putin has cleaned up a lot of this outrageous lawlessness of the 1990's.

Good potential but it's too dark, not clear causes eye strain. The "sinister" mood and tone of the film can still be maintained if there was just a little bit more illumination. As it is, it takes away from the enjoyment and does spoil the sinister mood the director was trying to create in the first place. Disappointed 🥺
