As if the 650 class didn't have enough models, Triumph is coming into the game with their brand new Trident. Let's see if this affordable luxury model rides like all the other bikes from the British brand while having a very affordable price point.

The 6 thumbs down came from execs at Yamaha & Kawasaki.
Loved the review, especially the 5 axis representation of the class it sits in
Just a small correction, the engine is based on the renowned 120 HP Daytona 675 that's been de-tuned, with a longer stroke, narrower bore and 67 different components down to 81 HP. Finally, the engine has 64 Nm / ~48 ft-lb torque, with 90% torque available throughout the power band, from 3600 rpm onwards, that's why the awesome grunt at the start line, but tapering power towards the top end.
Please excuse if I come across as narcissistic, but as a nerd, just wanted to add info that would help out.
can you link me the source of info , im curious about the 67 different components
No, it's not the same engine bro. It's completely different. People make this mistake more often than not.
@@GoodBalak "based on" doesn't mean the same engine, that means the parent block design is the same
@@annakanna No, not even the parent blocks are the same. You'd know if you've seen them both IRL.
@@GoodBalak you're talking out of your ass, Triumph has two major triple designs, one is the newer dry cylinder liner ones used in the tiger 900 range and the current gen 765 street triple, the other is the wet cylinder liner used in the old daytona 675s. Trident 660 block's parent is the old wet cylinder liner one (bulkier and heavier but cheaper to manufacture), if you mean the block is different from 765 then it is but the original commenter isn't wrong in saying the 660 is based on 675's engine since there is no 675 that was ever constructed with dry cylinder liner
This was great fun to watch Chase!! I really like the fact that you're mostly telling us the things outside of the spec sheet and letting us know how the bike actually "feels" like to ride.
I bought mine Friday.
I bought it over the MT07 BECAUSE of the modes, traction control etc. This is my first mid weight bike, my last was an r3 320, so a pretty big step up for me. I've already clocked in over 300miles since friday. I LOVE this bike. You feel at home on it. You flex your muscles and she wants to lean over. The brakes are NO joke. I personally think they are a little to aggressive for my taste. If ive had the ABS kick in, I couldn't tell that it did. And its been raining for the last 3 days in my area.
If you're on the fence for a middle weight naked bike, the Trident is the way to go.
Let me assure you as well, the audio DOES NOT do a good job of transcribing what the bike actually sounds like. It's so much better.
how long did you have the R3 before you got the 660?
@@therythymtherebel9332 I rode the R3 for about 2 years. But that was more to save up a down payment than any real need or desire so. My down payment was nearly half of the OTD price.
all the best , ride safe and enjoy
It’s a awesome bike. Just sucks it’s not any good on a interstate. I would like to go on short 2 hour rides out of state. Only deal breaker for me.
@@Deon0026yickadee what?!! It’s great on the interstate? What makes you think it’s not? I mean the wind yes…that’s on any naked bike though. I don’t have a windscreen…might get one…that’s the only problem it has on the interstate..and it’s an easy fix👍🏼
So glad I picked up my Trident here in Texas. Been a blast to ride
What’s up man,
I’m actually moving to TX from CA. I read somewhere that there is a bill in motion to allow lane splitting in certain conditions in TX?
Also I’m looking into getting a Trident myself, I’ll be in the Austin area.
@@joostinkong I haven't heard of a new bill legalizing lane splitting in Texas yet.
I'm near Dallas, but Austin is a fun city. Be wary of I-35, the main highway running through Austin. It gets backed up constantly, especially if you're driving into Austin from the northern towns (Round Rock/Pflugerville).
My recommendation would be to live as close to work as possible, and take your bike out to the Hill Country out west for fun twisty roads.
These are so hard to find in the Houston area. You have to head out to Katy or the woodlands from what I’m seeing
You had any issues? Looking at getting one by this weekend.
@@michaelparks7563 So far so good. I went ahead and got new levers from Tec Bikes, because the stock clutch lever is a bit too far away and non-adjustable. Other than that, I've got 450miles on it and will soon be doing my first service.
You post one of the best reviews of any motorcycles. Because you show the bike moving with you on it from different angles. Most videos that I see always have a view from the perspective of the person riding the bike,so all you see is the road, handle bars and the instruments. I want to see the bike in action
Thanks heaps for the new side and travelling angles man!!! Makes a huge difference in decision making as we now see what it looks like rolling etc !! Cheers from NZ!!
They do have a wind screen. It's optional. That bike has a lot of accessories. From Triumph
Hi im Jeremy from New Zealand
I've just purchased one of these with 2000ks on it the previous owner purchased virtually every single Triumph accessory available including Mall black paint, bar end mirrors, quick changer, black adjustable levers. Belly pan, fly screen, seat cover etc.......
Absolutely loving it.
Great review please keep up the great work.
The third person view is awesome! Really shows how the bike looks when riding it. Great view
Chase: I need to chill out
Chase Throttle control: BRAAAAAAAAAAAAP
Also Chase: No I dont ^^
I got to ride and review the Trident a couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t agree with you more. I say it’s a whole lotta fun, especially on the UKs country roads! Nice review, dude! 😁👍
Spent time on the Trident last week and loved it. Such an awesome total package. Awesome review, man. 👍🏻
Absolutely love this bike! I’ve seen a lot of reviews and pretty much all of them have been great. I would be so proud to ride the Trident on the daily.
How is the bike so far?
It made a lot of sense to me. A lot of people wouldn't consider the street triple a first bike, especially at the price. This way you can pick up a triple for less than a street twin.
Have had the 2022 trident for over a year now and ride it as my daily. Absolutely love this bike. This my 4th bike and I couldn’t be happier with it. Highly recommended.
how is the throttle response? i've read that there's a slight delay when you first get on the throttle.
I'd also like to know about the throttle
Proud owner of a 2020 Street triple R. Be it track, twisties, city or touring, I have enjoyed every bit on it. Amazing review!👍🏻
Been waiting on your review on this. I fell in love with the Street Triple after your review a couple years back and Triumph has become my favorite brand of bike(I've owned two now with my 2020 RS as my avatar there, I know, I need a better pic lol). Been looking at the Trident for the wife's first bike now and hope to get one later in the year.
Keep up the great work Chase, love your work!
I was soooooo waiting for thiss!!
Thanks Chase!
OC- initially felt the same until reading the specs. Glad they brought in something more entry-level.
Would definitely choose this for a middleweight. The usability of power from a 650/700cc bike with the sound of a Triple. Perfect combo
OC:Awesome review. You just helped me decide to pill the trigger over an XSR700. Thanks
Just saw one of these at the dealership last weekend, they look surprisingly cool. Great entry level option!
Does seem a bit quiet though. - Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos, the camera angles, the clear audio, the editing is great. Good stuff!
Best review I've seen yet on this bike, and I feel like I've seen them all.
This is my favorite of the factory Trident paint schemes.
I’m really intrigued to try a triple - I heard it’s the best of both worlds between a parallel and a 4 cylinder. Interesting concept.
Took one for a test ride today and promptly put down a deposit for a Crystal White. My ride wasn't too long but it was long enough to determine that this bike is going to be a great value at the price point!
I feel like Triumphs are always overlooked, they are reliable, smooth, affordable for what they are, and last but not least, phenomenal build quality.
I love mine, have about 220 miles and I was gonna by the MT-07 but the Trident has been a blast to ride.
What won you voer to buy the trident? I cant decide between the two!
@@nikhilpadhiar2273 I’m sure the mt-07 would be a great bike too but I like the classic circular headlight more than the cyborg style headlight, every reviewer talked about how much better the suspension on the trident is and I liked the sound and idea of a triple cylinder instead of twin. Hope this helps 😁
@@JmansAdventures Thanks! I guess it really boils down to a personal preference in the end!
Thanks for a great review mate!!
OC. Just tested a 2023 Trident 660 and to answer your question as to why when a Street Triple exists: Comfort. The seating and riding position on that Street Triple is wider in the thighs and higher. The Trident is much more upright, relaxed, and comfortable. Probably going to buy one.
That's a gorgeous bike! I'm dying to buy it here in Brazil!
I’m hoping to one day semi soon, upgrade to a Trident from my starter bike (2022 Grom).
At 5,7’ the trident is the most comfortable bike I’ve sat on thus far. And it’s just so gosh darn pretty. Man is it a beautiful bike.
"I go this speed sometimes..." got me rolling man
It's a beautiful bike. Just got mine here in PA.
Another very good 😊 starting option is Triumph Speed Twin 900
I just got a Triumph Speed Twin 900 as my 1st motorcycles 🏍️. It is absolutely awesome, I am 45 years old, 5ft 8inches.
This motorcycle has
Great 👍🏽 Ergonomics to sit and drive
High Torque which makes it FUN to drive
Easy to handle
Superb Sound better than the 1200
Best Looking
OC: So so sorry Chase. I requested a video on Trident 660 and it was already there. Sorry for being such a noob. The thing is I'm watching your videos for more than 10 days straight and yet i think i haven't been to halfway yet. Thank you so much for the video, Chase. Lots of love from one of your newest subscribers from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India ❤1:40 lovely exhaust note
got mine this week.. can't wait for srping
24:47 I mean yes there are some thing that Triumph put on the bike, but they did it in a way where it still looks good and it gives it I would say that character that a motorcycle should have. And that's the one thing I love about Triumph, they make bikes in a way it makes you feel like you have a special connection with the motorcycle
OC i was shocked by the engine size, but I figured they took the street triple and merged it with a bonneville to make a more relaxed street bike.
OC: love the triumph brand and when they announce this i went bananas! Cause currently dont have the capability to get the street triple rs.
I am so used to R3's engine brake that Trident's engine brake feels soooo weak. I had no problem starting out with R3's non-slipper clutch. But Trident's slipper clutch does spoil you. It is buttery smooth. Quick shifter is on backorder and I cannot wait!
I'm moving up from an R3 as well, so would love to hear more about your experience on this!
I currently have an r3 and planning to move up choosing between the 2022 yamaha xsr900 or triump trident 660. Any feedback after owning and riding the trident for a while? Give us an update.
I love this bike, I'm planning to save and make it my first bike for my 23rd birthday🎉🎉🎉
I can’t stop watching this review
🤔🤔
I just bought one. I love it, not as fast as some of the other bikes I've owned but I've had more fun on this in the three days I've owned it than I can remember. I think it makes a good beginner bike but if you are experienced you can push this thing like crazy.
It's like the miata of motorcycles: idc what you drive, love it or hate it, but you are going to have the time of your life driving this thing whether you admit it or not.
It’s been a hot min since I seen a first ride !!!
Great first ride review Chaseontwowheels! How does the Trident compare to a Ducati Monster 821 in terms of handling and riding dynamics? Especially for a beginner motorcyclist?
The trident and the tuono 660 are on my list to get for the mrs and i.. she has a cbr650f and i have a vfr800 but she wants retro styled bike and i want a nimble lightweight naked. Was looking into the street triple but tuono looks better imho and has cruise control.. only downside is they are both brand new bikes so they are harder to find. Plus we are gona wait them out to see what bugs the first gens have and let others take the depreciation hit lol
I'm not here for... chase saying "I'm here for" over and over :P Geat first ride!
Yamaha will need to make some adjustments on next years mt07. I wonder if the trident will have the same reliability. Reliability is a main key for me and I’m looking to the mt09 sp as my next ride over a speed triple or other premium brand
Picked mine up awhile go. In south Florida.
Please do a 2021 CB 650 r review.
Just picked up my Trident less than 12 hours ago...had to put a deposit down on a pre-order over a month ago just to secure it.
Love to see a head to head of this vs the Tuono 660.
OC: This bike made all the sense when I first saw it - it's got the looks (not trying to be a transformer), it's got the pricetag (not trying to be a Triumph) and it's got the go as most every review keeps reporting. I just love bikes that look like classic bikes, not "classic" as old, but as a kind of motorcycle every regular joe thinks about when they are asked to think about how a motorcycle looks.
Oh, and I totally love the tail like that. Clean as funk!
Chase!! What are those comfy looking gloves you're rockin?
Lovely little bike!!
How do you get shots from that front angle of you riding on the road? Looks awesome.
I've heard a lot of people don't like this bike of the throttle but man I'm going with this over any of naked bike because this one actually looks good all the other nakeds don't although that's subjective
People always say lots of torque low down is "great for round town", which it is, but it's also great for open roads in the countryside etc. After corners you can build back up to speed so much quicker too. High reving, big capacity sports bikes are awesome for top end speed but you can't use that extra bhp unless you are on a track really... give me low down torqure any day.
Torque AND semi high revving is certainly possible .I say semi because truly high revving and lots of torque is expensive ..
Great review, your love of riding is very evident. And always entertaining reviews. I’m torn. Getting my first bike. And its really between this bike and the Harley sportster s. Yes, entirely different bikes. But that’s where my desire lands. I do have riding experience. But if you had to choose between these two and the difference in cost were not a problem. What would you recommend. And sick ruroc carbon helmet. OC
Did you get one?? That Sportster S is a friggin beast I'd be cautious on that one if it's your first bike.
Oc Now do a trident vs used street triple please. I get it though the 660 is their 650 class & street triple is their naked super sport like the old fz6 and gsx s750
Great review! Wish I found your channel earlier.
I picked my black colour scheme trident , ❤️
Love this bike. Want it as my first bike.
Same here
That's a real pretty, clean bike! Would be a little small for me though, bummer :p
Can you review the 2021 Honda CB1000R black edition when it comes in? Thanks.
OC NICE BIKE!! I NEED TO FIND ONE TO TEST RIDE
OC: Triumph pulled a typically Japanese move by offering a competent bike at an entry-level price. I say it was a brilliant move to steal some buyers of the SV650, MT-07, etc...
It is smart cause I was dead set on mt 07 for couple years now but now that I’m finally in the market and they just introduced this and it’s thrown my bike decision back to the drawing board, and I’m highly considering this trident if it’s reliability can hold up
@@TK-gd9td I personally love the MT-07. It is a really good, fun bike. I’m sure the Trident is good also, but it won’t be as much fun as the Yamaha!
@@Mejonesin why? It has everything mt07 has and more basically. On top of that it has the added benefit of having a triple engine which is sort of as fun as it gets
@@OneRichMofo It's so damn good that it feels and rides like an appliance. The mt 07 is just so rambunctious. It's best feature is the lack of features. Maybe not the best motorcycle I've owned but it certainly is the most fun.
I love my Trident. Great review, so fun to ride.
Would you recommend it for long rides?
@@ThatCologneGuy Sure, the ergos are comfortable and there is very little vibration. Handles great. No storage space, but that's not an issue with me. A long country ride on my Trident, for me, is a perfect day.
@@robotusername That's very helpful, thanks!
Is the big Triumph logo a decal that can be removed or is it under the clear coat ? I love the matte black but the big logo is just to much for me!
Great review 👍
Such a clean bike 🔥
Even within Triumph its like every company hired Michela Bay to design their bikes specifically for his next Transformers movie. I'm all about aggressive looks but its a little much so this is a straight up revelation. It has absolutely nailed the modern retro look. I'm not a beginner at all but this is definitely in my future. Even if they hold their value, a gently used one in a couple yrs will be a steal. And having gone from 400cc to 600cc to 10000cc all I found was I could get to 60 faster. Fun yes, but overrated imo, I like my license. Great review.
Don't know why you were shocked. The Street Triple is a weapon. Not really a beginner friendly bike. The Street Twin is nice but has a different vibe (looks, character, riding) compared to this. It's an entry into the Modern Classic line while the Trident is an entry into the sport/performance line.
no idle chirpy whistle? that was the best thing about my street triple
The Trident all the way over the Yamaha MT 07. The MT has not even corrected it suspension, in particular those front forks.
Great for the entry level rider who wants a bike he can "grow into" & really, depending on aspirations, can just keep. Great for the rider in a very big city/ heavily urban environment ( me) because of its excellent road manners.
Own an 07 and you'd be amazed. Nothing wrong with the suspension unless you are Marquez.
i would like you to do a review on an aprilia shiver 900
More videos on the 660 Triumph
I wish you popped some wheelies as you did with MT07 :).
Still thinking on getting this bike or maybe a Yamaha xsr 700
Mine is getting delivered on 19th April
thanks, regards from India.
Nice 😎😎
@@neti_neti_ Thanks Bruh
4:19 Its funny riding a trident past whats now currently the main trident dealer for the area
13:50 to 14:00 …is a beautiful shot
Who needs modes on a bike? If it's wet and slippery, twist the throttle less, and brake lighter and earlier. If you want to race, twist harder and change up later.
Its beautiful
OC: The Trident is a beautiful bike. Modern retro styling and that smooth ride Triumph is known for. In my opinion the triple is the best engine in the world to me. The linear power delivery characteristic really sets it apart from it's competition. But the Daytona will for all time be my favourite Triumph.
Seriously considering either this or a Bonnie 120 or maybe an Indian Scout or a chief or Rebel 1100 as my first bike, can’t make up my mind lol
CBR250RR already have mode, and up down QS
Can't wait for the Daytona (660) review
Do you think this would be a great bike for cruising through the hills of North Georgia?
Can you do a review on the BMW R Nine T?
I just hope they make a triumph trident 1000cc with inline 4 . That would be lit. 😄
Which one is more aggressive to ride?Duke 390 or this?
Btw chase the trident isn’t a brand new motorcycle, the tridents been around for years, just got cancelled a long time ago then brought back
That woudl look sweet with a cafe windscreen.
What are your comments on the seat upholstery? Several other reviewer‘s around the world comment on it in particular. Just wondering what your opinion is?
How tall are you? Just so I can get idea of what the seating position.
Its a street triple with a modern classic look
Bro, something fell off, at 13:57 look at the left side (from who's watching the video) of the front wheel.
