Hi , I realise it's been a while since you worked on the 424 but when you cleaned the pots n switches where did you put the cleaner and is it a case of flipping it upside down straight away or waiting and then leaving it upside down for a further few minutes . Any help appreciated I just don't want to take mine apart to get access to scratchy switches as this is the only fault . Thanks and regards Mike

In general you spray contact cleaner into the visible opening(s) on a potentiometer...same applies to switches. I think a best practice is to 'flush' the switches/pots with some non-residue contact cleaner first (deoxit, WD 40 Contact Cleaner, CRC, etc...) and let it sit overnight - then the next day repeat the process with Faderlube to provide extra cleaning and conditioning. The first pass 'flushes' the gunk - the second pass 'cleans and conditions".

@@millervintagehifi3034 thankyou for your reply. Just one more thing, when you worked on the 424 in the video you mentioned turning the receiver upside down for a small period of time. How long should it be upside down and when you initially deoxit it where do you aim because, as you well know, the access is very restricted. Sorry to bother you again 👌

Maybe a few minutes before exercising the pots…

Thanks very much. Your video gave me hope as I didn't fancy dismantling my 424 just to clean....mainly the volume control left side. Your videos are brilliant by the way. Have a great day and regards from the U.K 👍

I'm not sure they make an adapter for that purpose.
