Was this a good or a bad buy? Part 2 in a series on the repair of a MAC 1900 I picked up off of eBay.

You can measure the AC ripple across the cap while the amp is powered on.

Ripple is one of those things I just can't wrap my head around...unless I'm sipping some out of a brown paper bag :)

@@millervintagehifi3034 After AC is rectified and filtered, you should have pure DC but if the filtering fails, you have AC ripple present. You can measure this with an AC meter or oscilloscope.

My 1900 was running a little hot when the left channel went up in a little puff of smoke. Any idea what it may be ?
