I think what’s frustrating is there is “just a little bit” of red dye, sugar or chemicals in basically everything. I’m all for balance and not food shaming but I think the food industry has set us up for failure because of the useless chemicals and dyes that are in all our foods. Lets not even mention the chemicals in our body products, detergent, perfume, etc. I think we need to do a better job of not excusing these ingredients and be aware of how we can avoid them and stand up for our health.
I agree with you. I was a teacher for six years and there are so many children who are allergic or intolerant to certain food dyes and additives. I believe we are better off without most of those additives. And dyes don't significantly change the taste or extend the shelf life of foods, so I'm most comfortable ditching those out of all additives/ingredients.
well said a little bit in everything adds up
I also agree with you. As there might not be a lot in certain foods, however looking at it as a whole of what we consume that would become dangerous as the compound effect. Where there is a little bit of that certain chemical in every food we eat therefore it becomes extremely toxic.
IMO I think it's good to ban dangerous ingredients even if it takes a lot to actually have an effect, because it's not possible to know every ingredient that's bad for you, whereas everyone knows when they're smoking a cigarette or in the sun. If we can use an alternative ingredient, why wouldn't we? If I do happen to eat the same cereal all day every day, I don't want to have to worry about if it's gonna give me cancer or not.
You can't compare water and sun with food-additives. Also the comparison with alcohol doesn't fit. I also don't see why someone should add something to food when it's potentially harmful when there are alternatives. Everybody knows that alcohol is dangerous and noone would give alcohol to a child. But when someone gives for example cereals to a child the person should be able to trust in the absolute safety of this product.
Hi, as an european, I want to say two things.
1. Sun is necessary. Ad ins can be easily replaced.
2. We don't have guild stress or anxiety around eating food with dye and anything and we can eat those foods.
3. We also have "froood loops".
3. Food isn't more expensivem In my country it's very cheap.
It's just marketing.
The number one reason I love traveling outside of the US is because I can eat with less restrictions because the food tends to not cause me severe GI distress 😊
I appreciated your explanation on the FDA vs EU’s approach to banning ingredients. Very informative. 😊 If I could ask an opposing question- could it be argued that the high amount of lobbying for food, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics internet groups biases the FDA to be more lenient than is responsible? I’m coming at this as someone who’s researched cosmetic ingredients a lot, so I’m not as educated on food. I just know that, for example, some of the formaldehyde-releasing cosmetic preservatives allowed in the USA are banned in many other places because of the toxicity risk factor. Love your work!!
Super great question! Personally I like to look at the research itself as to what the amounts that have been studied and effects were shown/not shown to make a decision as to whether something is harmful or not regardless of the approach!
@@ColleenChristensen fair enough, thanks so much ✨❤️
I think a lot of people, in general, don’t take a lot of things into consideration when it comes to food and food additives. For example with the dyes, my dad can’t have them they trigger migraines within 20 minutes of ingesting them. Same with canola and olive oil. I don’t have those issues. What’s not being considered is everybody’s bodies are different. Peanuts, lactose, fish, etc allergies exist and they aren’t banned.
Like you mentioned you can have a preference but making all these things out to be blanket awful without the facts to back it up is a bit worrisome. We need to be fully informed consumers if nothing else
Super well said! Everyone is SO unique!!!!!!
I appreciate your channel so much! I have been going through and watching all your youtube videos after I have seen your shorts. For the first time in 12 years I have allowed myself to eat peanut butter and my favorite one Jiff!! I have allowed myself to give up some food rules thanks to all your helpful advice (still working through some) I really hope you do more longer videos on youtube as they are very helpful. Thank you.
A full week of eating seems like a lot but I do enjoy your full days of eating as they have given me inspiration for meal ideas
we want YOU to make your feel you best, and personally its exhausting and unrealistic to film, show and explain every single bite that we eat in a day , not to mention for multiple of ones. Gotcha girl! xx
Xoxoxox! ❤️ you!
Idk about food but with cosmetics the EU does not ban ingredients without regarding the dose in which their are present in a product. There are some ingredients which have some links to diseases etc but they are not banned. They have Max. Amounts / Limits on them.
Yes and most of them can be easily replaced. For ex. we habe "froot loops" (different brand because different producer)
My thoughts on the switch witch story are that : does the story mention if the parents ask the child if they want to do the switch witch or keep the candy, or is it not a choice; if they are asking the child if they want to do that and the child is choosing to do it that is one thing but if it is not a choice yes there could maybe be some possible potential food relationship issues
I only really use CZcams and love your content! I would love to see whatever what I eat in a days are sustainable for you, the idea of having a couple different meal times throughout the week sounded great to me.
Thanks for the thoughts, friend!!!
Thank you for all the examples!
Kind of random but where is your pink quarter zip from?? It’s so cute ❤️
Thank you for this news i love how you spread body positivity ❤️👍
I love your no food rules news videos. ❤
I'm literally pumping while watching this, then you hit the breast milk article😂
I'm a CZcams only kind of person just because I don't want to get too obsessive it's a boundary I sat with myself. On what I eat in a day maybe not a week but a longer period of time like your Boston trip
Love that you’re setting boundaries 👏👏👏
They’ll have to start putting those ingredient facts on the back of boxes of fruit loops 😂 thanks for sharing this info!
Also, if it’s so dangerous, why is it not being put into effect for 3 years 😅
Because they want us to be sick and exhausted all the time
Because you live in America 😂😂🦅
Major study just came out on obesity saying that fructose is the main cause of obesity. Colleen, That sounds like a topic. You should definitely address. It's fresh off the press❤
I want to hear more about alcohol being a toxin. Thank you for this channel!
I let my kiddo eat as much Halloween candy as she wants. One year she ate nothing but candy for a day and felt awful. So she learned the hard way that I wasn't making it up when I said she'd feel better eating less of that and having something more nutritious. Now at 15, she's better than me at self regulating her food intake based on what her body needs for nutrition balanced with sweets and chips and such that are just fun to eat.
As to dyes, kiddo was very sensitive to yellow dye as a little dude. She'd literally bounce off walls. Did that mean I needed to go on a campaign to stop others from having it? No. It just meant not letting her have it.
I think it can be useful to look at what other countries are regulating. But as you point out, it's also important to understand why we're all doing it the way we're doing it and the science behind the decisions. Now please pass the Froot Loops. I suddenly have a craving 😅 No really, I want some and don't have any right now lol
There is a dangerous food component like monosodium glutamate and it’s in many foods , there is true you don’t need to be extreme to avoid foods but it’s true you need to be informed to make decisions. I like to do my own research and then decide what is better for me.
And I can add that read about glyphosate is something important to know too, I have been discovered that we don’t know really the truth stories about how the food industry make money.
also, thought the breast milk news was interesting and actually thought wouldn't it be controversial if adults started buying the substitute for breast milk for people and especially mother's with a baby actually in the real need of it, alike with what's going on with ozempic right now being out of stock from normal buying it causing diabetic people actually needing it...? appreciate if you gave your opinion on this !
Super great point!!!
I follow on IG, then CZcams.
👌👌 love that thanks!! 🥰🥰
Well the us bans stupid stuff like well technically they didn’t ban fat but said fat was bad for u and wveryone was like oh no.
I mostly just use CZcams for all online content
🥰🥰🥰
Okay I’m sick of fed is best. Fed is a non-freakin negotiable DUH.
Breast IS scientifically THE BEST. We all know this, let’s not lie about it. Does that mean you’re a horrible mother and your child will be sickly if you CAN’T BREAST FEED?! Obviously no! No one is saying that.
But if you CAN breastfed, you probably should… at least for 6 months.
I never thought id be fist to one of these videos but I love how you spread body positivity! Big fan🫶🏻
