    I joined because my uncle and my father were army veterans..and I knew a guy who was a Marine and he carried himself in a dignified manner and just had alot of courtesy, SIR, M'AAM, etc.
    My father always told people, "I Was In The Army " and the ol Marine always said, "I'm A Marine " and whenever he ran into another Marine they were like ol friends, like family you haven't seen in a while..and my father and uncle didn't carry on like that with other Army veterans..so I became a Marine.

    As a former Marine Corps recruiter, many of these questions would have irritated the hell out of me. Why? Because a recruiter has no clue of many of those topics as he/she is a recruiter and not a fortune teller. Each interview is a detailed sales presentation catered to the individuals expressed needs so coming in with somebody else's questions pretty much defeats the purpose. A lot of there are good follow-up questions to ask of the recruiter, but not for a first time meet and some of them will be covered in the first initial meeting without you asking.

    Fail pushups: 30 required: 45
    Fail 1.5mi run: 14:10 required: 12:30
    Pass crunches: 67 required: 60
    (Recruiter smoked us at this point because so many of us failed... he was pissed... at the ones who have been in the DEP for a while. Not me as it was my first IST and I havent PT with them yet. We then did ammo can lifts)

    I joined the Marine Corps in 1996 and then the Navy in 2002. I wish I had this information back then. I know 2 different branches. I waited 6 months to try to swear back in the Marine Corps because of 9/11. They were dragging their feet. I talked to a Navy recruiter and 13 days later I was swearing in as a sailor. I served 8 years total. Now keep this in mind. I'm part of a very small group of veterans. Since the creation of the Department of Defense from the War Department back in the 1940s there have only been about 40,000 veterans that have been in 2+ branches of military(at separate times of course)in their lives.

    great video Tony, I just found your channel and am really considering on joining the Marines, I am a male 22yr old, but am overweight atm, but im currently doing a diet to lose weight. So far I have lost almost 50lbs since starting it. I was talking to a Marine Recruiter over text the other day, and am very interested. I started my diet at 330lbs ( yeah yeah ik, its just so hard to get rid of eating junk food. But I am doing better now ) now i am currently 285lbs. I asked what is the min/max weight for a male who is 5'5, he said if you can get down to 173lbs, you'll be good to go for boot camp. Tho I might go a little lower than that tbh. I am gonna try to join by end of 2023, mid to end of 2024.

      It’s different for every branch, but usually includes push-ups, pull-ups, crunches and a mile run, sometimes more. You can find PT requirements for your branch online. If you can run a mile in under 9 minutes, do 50 pushups, and do a 3 minute plank, then you should be fine.

    Most of these questions are questions a Marine Corps recruiter couldn't possibly answer. He couldn't possibly tell you how leave works, tuition assistance, promotions, liberty, general duties ect...a recruiter answer how to process your paperwork and what bootcamp is like.
    For a better idea of what your life might look like, i would talk to people who are working the job you are interested in.

      @@ForTheCorps i have served 6 years. Been to 4 units. I've worked in the wing, base G6, battery, and infantry. None of those are even remotely the same. There are many units, commands, and jobs/billets that will make a Marine's experience very unique. Why The US MARINE CORPS Rejected People Under 27 To 28 Year Old ? Like What Fuck 😢

    • @BlossomField91
      @BlossomField91 Před měsícem

      Because the Marine Corps likes them young. The ideal USMC enlisted recruit is someone just out of high school.
      The average age of a Marine is younger than any other servicemember and it's not the best branch for older recruits.
      27 is a very young (wo)man in the real world, in the Marine Corps, a 27-year-old is a crusty old SNCO who already looks 40. The asshole squad leader treating you like shit is only 20 years old.
      I wouldn't advise anyone over about 22 to enlist in the Corps, even if they're wilfully accepted. Any of the other services are better for whatever you're looking for MOS-wise (including combat arms) and generally have more diversity in age range. You're more likely to have peers around your own age.
