@@mcstench8913 absolutely! You keep up basic maintenance on these and they’ll run and run, mine now is at 190k and runs as nice as any new vehicle, Love my 4.3 and plan on doing the marine intake swap on my 02 blazer ZR2 5speed manual!
The 4.3l was based on the 5.7l and was throttle body injected untill 1996 then it went to multiport fuel injection (spider injection) until 2013 then in 2014 it got a whole new redesign to be more based on the newer 5.3l LT engine but it was never based on the LS platform.
Great video. I was considering of doing this with my '96 S10 4.3L and I actually have that marine intake. The set up looks more plug and playish with the later model years then the '00 and down applications. Some additional work is needed especially having to tap, drill, and thread a vacuum port for the brake booster. Of course for my application I would have to add an adaptor plate in order to use the OEM throttle body so I can use the cruise control function. the one on this base does not have the provisions for it. Just a FYI the cast iron intake is a hefty 54 lbs while the original aluminum intake is a mere 26.7lbs. Also I use to work at Eagle Engines. They did have a pallet of these intakes but that was a couple of years ago. Not sure how low their stock is now. The price was about a couple hundred dollars less too back then, so it looks like the prices on these things have increased which means they are getting much "rarer" to find.
I’m doing a 4.3 in my 91 Isuzu. I am going to boost it. Was wondering about the injection on the 06 engine I got! Think you answered my questions. Was going sniper route but weighing price for hp tuners and parts vs parts etc. hoping for 400 hp in the little rig! Should be doable. Only money right lol

@@lifeonlimiter4519 The port under the t-stat is the coolant bypass so it has some circulation and allows it to open without potentially getting hot. I did this on a 5.7l and it would start getting hot before the t-stat would open, to remedy the issue I drilled a couple small holes in the t-stat to allow circulation. Pre-96 sbc and 4.3l had a bypass in the RH side of the block that went back to the suction side of the water pump. 96-up still had the bypass hole at the w/p mount but wasn’t used, can’t remember if it was the block or heads that didn’t have the connecting hole.
did you need to buy new injectors for the marine intake? Lb/Hr? what did you do for a oil feed and return for the turbo? How long do you think a stock style clutch will last for with the turbo? sorry for so many questions
So your 4.3 is a returnless/single line variant too? I was looking at the marine intakes for my 4.3 (also returnless but mine is DBW) but all the ones i seem to find are for return systems.
So, where do the spider harnesses go bad at? Why wouldn't you splice the harness after the plug, so you can still unplug the injectors if you needed to?

Howdy! Fellow 4.3 RCSB here with the 5 speed stick. I will plan on going with that intake manifold and a tune as well as a cheap T3 turbo kit (~700 dollars for everything...uses fabricated SyTys as manifolds I think) for a really cheap build. Turbo kit is from MMI motorsports, any input on that? I havent heard of them much, the kit is rated an OK 4.1 stars on Amazon, ill keep my eye on it, just wondering if you had any input on that. My main question is the elephant in the room to me...camshaft. Is it a requirement to put a turbo can in the 4.3? Will the camshaft snap on say, 13Ibs of boost? wanting to get around 330hp at the crank nothing too crazy, the NV3500 tranny is only good till about then I think. I realize this video is a year old so not expecting a timely response. let me know what you think man Ill let this sit until i hear back. The LU3 which is from 2003-2013 has a reprofiled balance shaft, improved injectors and faster computer, quiet cam. L35 is 2002 or Older but the marine intake will work.
What did you do with purge valve? I have a 2003 s10 and the purge valve is on the intake right buy the coil. It has a hole that the Purge Valve pushes in then has 2 screws to bolt it down on studs.

The Purge valve that goes into the intake on the passenger side it shows in your video at 2:40 and all the way up where you talk about taking a picture of the distributor it is setting on your valve cover and you can see the hole in the intake where it came out I was wanting to know if the intake had a hole in it for the valve or did you have to drill one.
Man. I want to put a 4.3 in an old 1980 Mercedes 240d manual trans diesel car. I'd go v8 but I want more room in engine bay. I'd prefer a carburetor 4.3 with no computer. But why is it impossible to find a kit to do this? What's the deal? I also don't see any videos of 4.3 carb engines. What's the secret? What to buy and do? Thanks for any tips. - I'd do fuel injection if I could have reliability and no crazy computer clutter under hood. Don't trust Holley efi systems.
I wouldn't accept that intake I'd make the seller send another with more secure packaging. A foam secured wood crate with Fragile Warnings all over it.

I did this intake manifold on my '04. All you really need to do is make sure it is specified for your model year engine. I learned the hard way and got one for a later model and ended up with a DBW throttle body when I needed a DBC. I ended up having to make an adapter plate from 3-4 bolt and use my old TB. I wish I knew you could just plug that coolant hose! I ended up drilling and tapping for a barb fitting and installing the hose as close to OEM as possible, it was a hassle. Yes, getting a tune with this intake manifold will get you more power and better gas mileage. The truck really woke up after the tune as it was pig rich before the tune. In all the install is very straightforward and can be completed in one day easily with the proper tools.
Well the 2003 has a LU3 and the 2002 has a L35, the plastic intakes are the same but the injectors are different. The Marine intake will work on your L35. My LU3 in 2003 was a Cable Drive.

I bent the cc bracket til it didn't hit the FR...solved lol and a stock 85mm ls1 TB works great

There should be a port for the brake booster line on the intake manifold. And depending on what injectors you have, just get the same plugs.

2002 and later stock manifolds also have no EGR

Hmmm... My 06 has no return fuel line like that. Maybe different emissions spec?
He said his is returnless as well. He just blocked the return line. Its regulated in the tank.

No it has to be the 8 bolt intake. The intakes with spider injection. The sds say 08 plus but will work from 98 up.

Yes some of these manifolds come with electric throttle body
