  • With the Coronation of King Charles III and Camilla a few days ago in London, UK. Why not try out a British food classic - Afternoon tea!
    I decided to head to Morrisons to try out their afternoon tea that is supposed to be great value for money. How will this UK supermarket fair against others I've tried?

    Please tell me you took the rest home? 😊 In Fortnum's or Harrods they bring a box to put leftover cakes and scones in and take home! Plus you can request more of everything if you've eaten them all. I agree it's well worth the money. Would be great to meet up with a friend and share Afternoon Tea and a catch up chat at a comfy table. Cakes not as fancy as M&S in my view but the clotted cream and jams are the best brands on the market. Rodda and Tiptree, can't get better! ❤

    I used to just do my own version in the cafe, picking out the sandwiches, scones and cakes I wanted. They used to have nice salmon sandwiches on brown bread too and decent victoria sponge which I would prefer to "potted cheesecake'. People slate the cafe in Morrisons but it was pretty decent where I was including the breakfasts.

      When you consider the cost of just buying/grabbing a takeaway sandwich (or even getting a 'Meal Deal') will usually cost over £3.00+; I think to sit down with a fresh cup of tea, have three sandwiches, the scone, jam & cream, plus those 'cakes' for £6.50 is pretty good value. It's also better than then having to eat out in public , never mind find a wall/bench to sit on! Just saying... LOL 😃

      I have heard people say scone

    • @stewedfishproductions7959
      @stewedfishproductions7959 Před rokem +2

      BOTH are correct! If you are from the North of Britain, his pronunciation is correct - so scone rhymes with GONE! But you will often hear Southerners have it rhyme with STONE! Although I live in London, I always say "SKON", as i'm originally from the Wirral, NW England...
      When you order a scone, rhyme it with 'stone'. But once it's eaten, the scone has 'gone'! 😋

    You know what I think this is a good deal but the price puts me off a bit. Because I think the deserts aren’t really the highest quality eg Marks and Spencer’s i know you get 2 fudge brownies and a cheesecake but those are both cheeper than toffee fudge cupcakes and macrons. However I would get this over marks and Spencer’s as the scons make me jealous with jam since u get 2 🤡

    • @everydayimeating3407

    • @voidandwood6724
      @voidandwood6724 Před rokem

      Ye in my opinion I feel like Morrisons could had done a little bit better with the deserts since they look good but they don’t look as rich as the M&S ones did. As the richer the deserts are the more filling they are. And the main reason why they couldn’t had done better is that since Morrisons is kind of cheap they could have added a lot more for 13 pounds. Like a tiny hot food platter eg a sausage and a rash of bacon would have definitely fit their cheap budget. Even though it’s alot of food I still feel like Morrisons doesn’t have a wild factor unlike M&S where their wild factor is good quality.
