- #ilovervlife #haloview #backupcamera Backup cameras are a great tool for any RV. A backup camera provides a view of the back of the RV so the driver can see obstacles when backing into a camping spot or negotiating a parking lot. Another added benefit having a view of traffic behind the RV when traveling down the road. We installed the Haloview Handy 7 providing super clear and very stable video. And best yet, the entire installation took less than 30 minutes with no wiring and no drilling.
Our thanks to Haloview providing this backup camera system for this video review.

Finely someone real test !
Thanks
Perfect! I’m looking for a backup camera for our Reflection! Thanks for the informative video!
Thanks
Thanks again for your video I'm glad that we waited to buy one . Keep up the good work!
Thanks. Glad we could share.
This camera system seems what I want, I have little installation experience, and the haloview handy 7 backup camera's install process is so cool. Maybe I should have a try! GOOD LUCK TO ME.Thanks for sharing, Jerry!
Thanks. It’s been a very reliable system. Hope to review some new cameras in the near future.
Just to let you know, Jerry, I bought a Haloview backup camera because of your review. It was exactly what we were looking for and very easy to install once I figured the positive & negative wiring! Love the view it gives and the help it gives on the Interstate with passing and lane changes! Glad I got to view your video! Happy Camping!!
Awesome. Great to hear the Haloview worked out for you too.
Thank you for this honest review. Am about to go full time on the road in my camper trailer and was looking for an reverse camera for hitching. Just ordered one! Love from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Glad we were able to help S R. Ah, New Zealand. A hopeful travel that's on our bucket list. Safe travels.
Thank you very much
Great! I will have to install on the RV much lower as I can't climb the ladder. Thanks Jerry!
Should work great.
It is easy to install but now you have to climb up and down the ladder to get to the camera before and after every day’s driving. And hope you don’t forget! Kind of like pay me now or pay me later. I prefer the Haloview RD7 with four cameras that I have permanently installed. I have had issues with my cameras but their customer support has been outstanding.
True Terry. I have the RD7 on my 5th wheel as well. But, this is a simple to install application for those that want a backup camera. Plus the added benefit to week exercise getting the camera 😉
Just ordered mine. Thank you!
Thanks Jan
Jerry, that’s an awesome looking camera. Might have to get one of those.
It works great. Installed on daughter and her hubby’s camper.
Awesome! Was looking for something wireless. Great video!
Thanks Bryan. It’s a nice system and super easy to install.
Great info! Go Dawgs!!!!
Woot woot
Great show
Thanks
thank you Stay Safe God Bless
Thanks Ray.
Amazing product. I have a 36ft 5th wheel. What are my options since this unit is for shorter applications?
It is Patrick. 36 ft would be a stretch with the Handy 7. I used the Haloview RD7 that has the amplifier. Longer install, but worth it in the long run. We have a 40 ft 5th wheel and distance from camera to dash is 56 feet, plus the metal in the cab. If you haven’t seen the video, check this out on the install czcams.com/video/LVzO9wl-UwU/video.html
You can buy a RD7 and a handy camera. RD7 will help you solve wireless signal issue even on the freeway. The handy camera can work with RD7, you can use it for hitching and security concerns and you can move it as you want.
@@iLoveRVlife i have a lifetime warranty on my 5th wheel so drilling through the wall might void that warranty.
I’d check the do’s and don’ts in the contract to see if there are any limitations.
@@pjwroblewski Haloview supply magnet mount and 3M metal plate, maybe you can try this install method.
Does it have option to remove the grid lines? Would be nice to have just a clear picture without lines
It does. The lines can be turned off in the settings.
excellent, excellent idea!!! BUT i need it to work for my 41ft Gateway 🙁. no relay for it huh.
This has a guaranteed distance of 33ft.
You can buy RD7 to solve the wireless signal issue
A great item for a subscriber giveaway!
Gave the last one away to a subscriber. Hoping for more opportunities in the future.
Nice
Thanks
Hi Jerry. Based on your video, I purchased the Haloview Handy7. Wow! It is even easier than you show. It paired just by turning on the camera. The huge monitor is crystal clear. I bought it because I just acquired a gooseneck trailer for transporting construction equipment. Using this system I can put the trailer on the ball, first try every time!!! I do need help on something. I bought a 2nd camera. Do you have a video or will you make a quick video for adding one or more additional cameras, pairing them and then setting up the screen for multiple camera views? Thanks from San Antonio, TX.
Absolutely. Since this video, I added a front and two side marker cameras. Check page 20 of the RD manual and it show how to pair the cameras. Hope this helps czcams.com/video/Tu5oPBRHquU/video.html
Excellent demo. Do you know if the Handy camera could be used with HaloView's 5-inch monitor?
Hi John and thanks. The cameras are universal for all of the Haloview monitors including the 5-inch.
@@iLoveRVlife Thanks, Jerry.
When on the highway is there any time lag using the Handy 7 as a rear view mirror?
None. It does have a wireless distance limit of 33 feet from camera to monitor.
Nice product, but beware of states that prohibit attachments to windshield. Doubt it is strongly enforced, but it is still a ticket risk.
True Bob. It ships with a bracket that can be installed elsewhere in the cab.
Will those plates work with a fiberglass siding on a motorhome?
Shouldn’t be an issue Bill. Clean the surface well. Make sure the plate is exactly where you want it. It’s a dickens to remove once set.
Thank you
Thank you for this video. On your recommendation I bought one. One question: when I paid for it, it looked like the payment went to a company in China. Would that be correct?
Correct. These are off shore. I’ve never had any issues.
Great video, Jerry! We have a 30ft Winnebago travel trailer and I'm trying to decide if I should go with the RD7 for the signal amplifier or would this one provide a strong enough signal? Tell Josh, Go Gators! ;)
30ft trailer plus pickup truck, then the total distance from rear camera to monitor could be over 33ft. So RD7 is the more suitable model for you as it has a TX-Box to strengthen the wireless signal. You don't need to worry about signal loss on the road. And you can buy a handy camera to work with RD7 for hitching.
@@luisgravano6123 Thank you very much! I was leaning toward the RD7 or the 7109 Max just to eliminate the worry. Seems I'm right on the edge of the capability of the cameras.
Thanks Cliff. Luis is right on.
Jerry it's been a couple months since the install of the halloview, curious how it has done. We are waiting for a new travel trailer and I'm trying to decide between halloview or furrion. Your comments and experiences are very appreciated.
Thanks Richard
Hi Richard. No complaints. These cameras and monitor have been working out well. Very clear. No dropped frames. The big difference with our extended length is the amplifier at the front of 5th wheel extending the range of the rear camera. One other note. To record the video, we used a cheap micro SD card. Mistake. This is high definition video and needs a high speed card to record. Replacing with a better card was a simple fix.
@@iLoveRVlife Thanks Jerry 😊 appreciate the reply
Love, I wonder could you attach it to our Cherokee tow vehicle???
It will attach to metal. The magnetic backing is quite strong. The only issue is distance to the monitor recommended not to exceed 33 feet.
@@iLoveRVlife might be to great a distance, my Motorhome is 39 feet then add tow to that.
Perfect application, but would be pushing the max distance.
@@iLoveRVlife thanks, can’t wait for next video, whatever it is!
Thanks Bill. More on the way.
It would be great if it had a solar charger to recharge when boondocking.
That would be the trick. I think the idea was for something simple, minimal effort to install and no external wiring needs. With that, the product fits that niche. But, if someone was creative a small 12V DC panel could be placed on the roof and connected to the charge port.
Does this thing record video?
It does. Just as a class 10 micro SD card.
I thought that this was another good video. I went to the Haloview and the writeup on the Handy 7 says that it is only good for up to 33 ft. About how much of a distance was your son's installation?
Thanks Larry. We were at the 33 foot mark.
Can this be used while driving so can see who traveling behind you and beside you back there or does camera turn off after so long?
Yes. This is designed to view as a backup or use as a rearview camera while driving. Reported the battery lasts approximately 7 hours between charges.
Hi are these ok to leave on the vehicle while driving ??
I do. Gives me a rear view mirror again.
Would you think side ones would be ok when driving ??, also the battery life of the camera after full charge, how is that ??
No problem. About 8 hours.
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can alter the monitors power source to USB?
Frank’s that would be 5V DC to 12V DC. Quite the step up. Amperage would be an issue too.
@@iLoveRVlife Thank you!
I am looking for a camera to mount inside my horse trailer, and the length from the receiver inside the truck to the inside of the trailer where the horses are will be about 40 feet - it is a very long trailer. If this camera system is limited to 34 feet as someone mentioned, it probably would not work. Any chance you can try your system at 40 feet for me? Thanks, GREAT video!
Hi Pam. I have a good solution. It’s what we use in our 40ft 5th wheel and it works great. It’s the Haloview RD7. He’s a video to show how we installed. czcams.com/video/1AHxL8wH5Bg/video.html
@@iLoveRVlife Sorry but that involves a 35 foot cable - I want to go 100% digital, can't run a cable from the horse compartment to the truck cab.
Understand. The issue will be the limitation with the wireless connection. Maybe some good news though. If you’ll be using more for backup vs. as a digital wireless rear view mirror, it should make the distance. The 34’ length is more for traveling down the road where you can experience video frame drop out at high speeds. One other tip. On the back of the trailer, if you can place the camera near the top edge where the antenna will be extended above the roof, you’ll have less metal impacting the signal back to the cab of the truck. Last point. On the RD7 we used, we aren’t running a cable to the truck. The cable runs from back of trailer to front near the pin. Grab power from a marker light and that’s done. Still wireless from cap to trailer. Just a few options.
It's only a issue if you want to use if for a rear view camera going down the road at 70mph. Then it will just skip some frames If you need it to see behind you backing up - no problem at all. I put it behind a 40' cattle trailer.
I was unable to find any info as to expected life of the Lithium battery and whether it’s easily replaceable. Perhaps I missed it.
Any idea?
Wasn’t in the literature Authur, but I have an email address for a Haloview engineer. Give me a few days to get a response and I’ll reply.
@@iLoveRVlife ... I’m also going to check the website again when I get back to my computer. Was viewing on mobile phone.
Authur, the folks at Haloview shared the following. “One cycle is a full charge to complete discharge. After 500 cycles, the batteries still maintains 80% of its original capacity. They don't recommend users dismantling and replacing the battery. They can arrange replacement of the camera and battery set if it is in 1 year warranty.
@@iLoveRVlife ... Thank You Sir! Just as I had suspected.
My I ask what the distance was on the truck and trailer you installed it on.
We were at the 33 foot mark.
@@iLoveRVlife Thank you for the info. We love your channel.
Thanks a bunch Karen.
