    Great day. And here I am ready to fish the Henry's fork in the morning hoping the new snow and cold weather hasn't put them down. I'm a Midway boy and have visited your store a few times. I always appreciate your videos.

    Love you all and your vids! Would love to see more 'fishing', like casting, rigs, etc. The reeling in is fun, but would love to see more of the process!

  • @classiiimalfunction722

    Totally agree with the “drop” comments fish are pretty resilient. I do, however, subscribe to wetting your hands before you go balls deep. The fish will thank you!
    Here’s a thought…. How bout you pay some homage to a fish that’s been stressed on the hook by being gentle with a release. Those fish pay your bills.

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  Před 3 lety +2

      Lance had a Rainy's indicator and I was throwing an Airlock foam indicator. Water was a bit off-color and we fished faster runs so the big splashy indicator wasn't a detriment. Slower, clearer water would be more conducive to the lighter yarn style indicators or just a dry fly and dropper.

    Funny stuff, Lance doesn't want the fish to die from the fish drop.
    Utah wildlife agencies are currently dropping 35000 fish out of an airplane to restock utah lakes, pretty sure they are fine if dropped from a 2ft. People are overly sensitive these days

      It sucks that Utah doesn't have any good fishing anymore. Idaho used to be good, now it's full of stunted with both maxillaries torn off, same with Montana. At least there's Canada, lol.

  • @TTT5000
    @TTT5000 Před 3 lety

    5x on that stretch of the Henry's Fork? Should be 4x. Your at a disadvantage using that if you want to land more big fish/put more pressure on them. I know the comp guys like to go super light though, even if the cons outweigh the pros of using it most of the time...

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  Před 3 lety +1

      Actually the 5X is plenty strong to horse fish in. The advantage is that it cuts through the water to get deeper. There are times when I run this same rig with heavier tippet and I can’t get down deep enough, and adding more weight to the fly just pulls the dry down too much.

    • @Lanceeganflyfishing
      @Lanceeganflyfishing Před 3 lety

      JD, if you watch the video you’ll notice the large brown didn’t break off. The hook pulled out. I was applying a ton of pressure. 4x doesn’t help when the hooks tears out with 5x. If we were breaking fish off left and right I’d agree with you, but that wasn’t the case. 4x will work too, but it has its own pros/cons.
