Don't feel bad about not knowing a lot of these songs. I lived through the 80's and having grown up in Northern Ontario I can tell you that at least 7 or 8 songs on this list NEVER had much if any Canadian airplay. I'm guessing this was compiled on songs in and around maybe Chicago.
I just made an 80's playlist with hundreds of songs and I would bet I barely got half of these name and artist.
    You did great!

Verdy discovered your channel because you are one of the few people who reacted to Pink Floyd properly by listening to the albums in their entirety and your enthusiasm for their sound was obvious. As for this quiz you did quite well for someone your age, most of the ones that you had no clue were one hit wonders that even myself who is at least your parents age had no clue. It's funny someone with a kpop moniker I usually would fly right past who knew?

Ok so it's pretty clear that your parents raised you right musically. I get the feeling that you might be a young aspiring artist, if so you've got a good broad musical foundation that will serve you well. Fun Fact: Kurt Cobain credits The Melvins snd the Pixies for bring major musical influences on him, he grew up listening to the Beatles and credits them for his underlying pop sensabilities.
So where you earned the like was at Get Down On It. Where I almost took it back was Purple Rain, lol. You REALLy should check out that song as well as Time after Time by Cindy Lauper. Both songs are master works that I truly believe you will enjoy. Keep the good content coming.
P.S. As a child of the 80's myself, this was tough, a few blew me outta the water, so you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done

You did well. I reckon most people your age would maybe struggle.
Roland Gift the singer from The Fine Young Cannibals lived local to me. I used to see him before he was famous and he didn't talk much. When he was famous he used to visit a nightclub and my brother would talk with him. I also used to see him in the Social Club on Sunday Dinnertime and no one bothered him
You should get to hear the album Purple Rain by Prince. It's full of Rock, Funk and Pop and is a classic. His other albums 1999 and Sign of the Times are classic too.
Kate Bush had her first hit Wuthering Heights which I think went to no. 1 in the UK as a Teenager. Her album The Hounds of Love is great too. One side is a number of songs comprising a full suite.

This was fun! I realized this was published a year ago, and I see you have dived into some of Peter Gabriel's solo work after that. But you should definitely check out Kate Bush. Her career actually collides with Gabriel's on her contribution on the duet "Don't give up". And def. check out Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists of all time. "Telegraph Road", full 14 minutes version (country meets prog, I would say), and "Brothers in arms" (LIVE at Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute is an emotional performance).

In my defense, I would say that there were a lot of so-called (One Hit Wonder) among this list.

I was in my teens/20s during the 1980s. Maybe 5 or 6 of these songs I honestly never heard before. However, for most I at least got the song name even if I couldn't recall the artist. The opposite was true for songs by Bon Jovi and Guns 'n' Roses. I recognized their sound but was never a fan of their music, so I couldn't name the songs. "Save a Prayer" by Duran Duran was a weird one to be included. Wikipedia tells me it was a bigger hit in the U.K. (#2) than in the U.S. (#16). They had much more popular songs here in the U.S. during the 1980s. Makes me wonder if the compiler of this quiz is from the UK.

Greetings from Finland. I noticed that you did a reaction video of the Nightwish song "Ghost Love Score". I like Nightwish and I decided to check out your channel. This was the first video I watched.
You did very well! I'm impressed. I've been really into music since the early 1980s and I like many of these songs. There were a lot of great bands and artists on the video. I just hope the song samples would've been in a much better quality. Someone already mentioned that the song by Kate Bush was actually from 1978. Her first three albums are my favorites. She has made a lot of great songs and some of them are quite unique.
Duran Duran was my first favorite band in 1982. I started listening to them when I was just a kid. I recommend the Rio album and their first self-titled album as well. That song (Save a Prayer) was from the Rio album. I also really like "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper although I've never really listened to her music. Kim Wilde is also great. The song "Kids From America" was from her first album. It's a good album and it sounds fantastic.
The band "Yes" is one of my favorites but I especially like their 1970s music. Some of that music is quite experimental and unique. They are known as a progressive rock band but they made more accessible and catchy songs in the 1980s. The Yes album "90125", which has "Owner of a Lonely Heart" is still a really great album. Check it out sometime. You might like it.
I almost feel bad not to write about all the other ones I really like on that video (Queen, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, The Human League etc.) but maybe I've written enough already. I was just impressed that you knew a lot of my favorites. Take care and I hope you're enjoying your weekend.

THAT WAS FUN! Great idea. I did the quiz along with you, and scored 54/60. But the 80's were the prime of my youth and I absolutely LOVED music of that decade. That a young lady like yourself knew as many as you did was impressive! If I did a quiz from the last 20 years I would fail miserably. Haven't liked the direction music has gone at all... but maybe that's just getting older? One comment, you said the only song you know of Prince is 'Kiss' so I highly recommend you do a deeper dive into his stuff. 'When Doves Cry' 'Little Red Corvette' 'Purple Rain' & 'Let's Go Crazy' are all vastly better than 'Kiss' imo. That's all!

My son is Autistic and while not really interested in Band names, he always tells me the year of a song whenever he hears some music. Two of my favourites in there too.....Starship- We Built This City.....and Van Halen-Jump.
It might be worth a look at a couple of MV's too (or maybe even reactions).....one being Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush, one of the most jaw dropping songs of that era.....and Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel....with a very unusual(and Brilliant!) video along with a fantastic song :)

"Awful song choice" and your first two suggestions are flash-in-the-pan teen sensations? No.

@@carstereorepair6574 I know it wasn't her song list. You were the one that said "awful song choice". Yes, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany had #1 hits, but their songs aren't any better than any of the ones already included. If fact, worse than many of them.

"wuthering heights" is from 1978. shouldn't be on the quiz, especially since her biggest song is from '85.

Honestly can't believe you know so much at your age. I lived through it and you best me. Except Dire Straits and Don't You forget about me. Ahggg. Girl! Can't even say my disappointment! A hero to zero moment.
