- 1957 Sand Rail/Dune Buggy: Full Custom Ian Roussel Is Another Step Closer! After A YEAR In Hiding 😳
This project wasn't left behind. Life happens and this beautiful sand rail/dune buggy had to be put on ice. While filming for Full Custom Garage, Ian Roussel was working on this vintage dune buggy. The engine had to be put into another project and Ian had to put this project on hold in his garage. Ian found another engine, we had a visit from Barry and now it is back!

You can probably get Jeep seat covers from the cj5 or cj7 low back seats that are pretty well weather proof.
Hi Ian I love to get some of the shirts with your late dog 🐕 picture on it
I love watching your videos and your TV shows sesces you been
I'm sorry to hear that he passed away 😭
I love the simplicity of this rail! Its really all you need to go tear it up! I always say you don't need a $20 K Razor to have fun!
It's sooo good to watch you on here. Your hypnotic voice and Jamie's giggles and queries. Just magic. Thankyou.
Thank you so much for the time you allow me to spend with you
Ian’s demeanor and sense of humor is very natural. As for Ms. Jamie, she’s sweet and very supportive of Ian. It’s just an amazing 🤩 partnership and have the patience to accommodate with each other. Good LOVE team ❤.
In contrast to all those women who bug their men so bad said men feel they have to get into their man caves and do some highly time consuming project or two...
Appreciate that 🙏 We overwhelmingly support each other and just like to vibe together. It makes life much easier and beautiful. Happy it translates to our onscreen presence. Have a great day! ~ Jamie
Jamie’s laugh and personality always puts a big smile on my face and makes my day along with Ian’s coolness. And love they care and love all their beautiful precious fur babies. Ours are my world.
I do appreciate the both of you! ❤
@@fullcustomIanwell said excellent ❤😊
Any time Ian is welding or explaining welding I'm all eyes and ears!
Yes please. More Buggy. I was sad when you rolled it out of the shop. 👍🇦🇺
We were too…but the show had to go on 😎
Haha….the whole seat cover thing did cross my mind
Everyone needs a Barry in there life 😅 and please don't get worried with the content making if you're not into doing something it's going to be a dull moment for us watching. keep step pepped and passion pumped for rusty relics renewed ❤
I enjoy watching Ian's work, he is so natural. It amazes me how he does all his work with all the fancy tools the other guys uses and turns out awesome work.
👍😎👍
It’s just such a good laugh, isn’t it?!!
@garysacry5969 Sure, I get some laughs out of watching their videos, but what's your point?
Great way to unwind from work. Having Jamie and Ian stop by for some humor, music, video and welding. A variable speed, electric grinder, while more expensive, may solve your preference for the battery model. Different day, different project. Keep shuffling the deck.
That is awesome to hear! Hope you have a great weekend and we are working on Sunday's upload! ~ Jamie
Such a fun time today, thanks !
I love ❤️ the bugs. Thanks for sharing with us today.
Love that Ian talks about running wires through the tubing than proceeds to cap the end 😂. Great stuff you two, always entertaining.
…. Drill
😂😂😂😂
I so enjoy watching your show. Look forward to it all the time when it's not there. I bum love watching you guys. You're funny working together. Always cheerful. I'll bet you have a heck of electric bill😮
I LOVE TEEPEE HEADERS!!! COOLEST THIN EVER INVENTED!!!
The seats are probably toasted from the sun. Lol👍😎
Or the welding ha,ha
The sun bakes EVERYTHING out here 😂
Luv u ian & jamie ❤😊
We love you too 👽😎👽
@@fullcustomIan message got messed up but u get it excellent guys & victor cheers 🥂 guys
That buggy looks like it will be lots of fun, once you get it going
Ian because I hate seat covers and you do too
Love the build 😄
Thank you for the new content this week. It was great! work hard play harder !
This is true!!!
Fun episode you two. Jamie's editing skills improves with every video. Thanks guys!
67 Bug & Type 3 had the one year only chrome center bar for their retractable lap belts. I put in my 69 square and I love them!
Was good to see you at Staters grocery store! Enjoy your day with your misses!
We’re locals
So neat. Another great video y'all. Thanks
Cool ol school buggy.. looks to ba a pre 56 batwing steering wheel👽✌️
Good show
I am SO enjoying the format of the show! I am always surprised when I here some ending comments, because I get so wrapped up in watching! You two are a fantastic team!
Jamie, when Ian says, "Can you see this or that, you need to move around s that you can get the shot. Maybe use the feature more. We would like to see what he is doing. I had to imagine what he was doing to raise his steering wheel. I love your choice of music and fast-forwarding through monotonous times.
Ian is what my grandpa use to called me a slap together builder if you ever noticed he has a vision for the end result like when he's doing a fender he'll get it into position then step back and go nope I think it will look better in the other position then he's like there it is that's what I'm looking for, it's because of his artists eye if it don't flow to his vision he'll change it till it fits his eye.
And that why I like his work!!!!!!!!
hey Ian, just a thought, you should put a cover on those seats🤔
I love when you vary the projects, it keeps everything interesting. Yes you are right , Spaceballs is a great movie.
Space balls! A Mel Brooks fan! And I didn't think it could get any better. 😁
Ian! Put some covers on those seats!!
Pretty cool! Those seats look like late 60's chevy van. I had one. 😊 Good video
Never a dull day in the Mohave desert.
It's true 😂😂😂😂
Hi guys. Thanks for another great video from both of you. both of you are amazing together. You asked if there’s anybody who knows something about the seats. A little trick I learnt from an upholsterer. Clear boot polish. Make sure the seats are clean and then apply very well with a rag to the seats and leave for about half an hour. Take a polish brush and a clean rag and proceeded to polish off majority with the brush and then take the clean rag and rub it all over. he did say that once you apply it, to really get to sink in try and use a hairdryer to get the polish to sink into the seat properly. There are two bonuses to this.1: it and 2: It will make the seat covers last longer and be a lot more supple and not so crispy. Hope that helps. Please take care of yourself and Jamie and blessings to both of you from the UK.
Let's go uncle Ian 😊
Thanks!
Ian really is the Bob Ross of automobile building.
But w/o creepy parts….
always guessing - always surprised 👽Another Great Show👽
THE CRUSHER !!!!
Nice buggy
Nice Big Carcass fix 😂😂
I had that thought about the seats 🤣
I see you have a new starter on the Willys engine! Liked the rest of the video too. Thanks
I like the plaid!
Great video love the Aircooled VW work 🤩
I like to go back and watch some of your videos the second or more times it's usually not the same one when I go back so I rotate around and watch them all again etcetera❤ variety is good😊😊😊
The dangle of the horizon and the center of my feet and who I’m having for lunch is the only way to go!😂 Good stuff!
I enjoy the channel and watch the TV shows but I could make a suggestion that with the cracks I would Stop drill and weld them up first before the patch plate. I enjoy the biulds.
Keep them plates, spinning, buddy. I love the diversity and variety of this channel. Cannot get enough of it. I mentioned in your live not sure if you were able to respond or not but we built a compressor out of a bug motor 2 cylinders pumping air and two running on gas worked awesome, keep it coming
A nice clean up Ian and good camera work Jamie. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks, you too!
ive had several dune buggys in last 35 years have some pcs to do anouther one !! andd yes why are the air cooled engines so costly !!! LOVE everything you work on !!! keep on kepping on !!! thanks !!
What you did with that steering colum mount was awsome! Function meets form just pulling things out of the scrap plile... Wanna get creative? Work with what you've got... Lesson learned...
Nice, might have a tinker with a buggy i have sitting around after watching this
Yes!
My only wish is these videos were just a lil longer
tenho assistido vários projetos e nem um chegou au final porque em todos ficam pelo caminho
a sparing amount of silicone spray lube will bring the vinyl back around, and not leave a oily residue if you put on just a delicate amount. its' putting the normal moisture back in the plastic, good for dry rubber too
Guys got to fun hey
Underhanded mallet pounding was nice and Ian looked fresh with the fashion
Good job with the music selection!
Thank you! I felt like it has the So Cal surf vibe going for it. 😎
@fullcustomIan Funny thing: When you asked what music we wanted to hear, my request was the surf guitar stylings of Dick Dale. Hence, my approval of this episode's musical selection. I think y'all always play cool music.
Plastic and oil go good together. I used oil on my plastic seats and put it out if the hot sun for a while and clean it off when I was done and it seemed to help some. Try it if you like or don't. Its just an idea.
For the Caddywhack-attack, just thinking a XXXXL front bug hood would look coolio for the rear deck. Give it a bit of the boat tail schwang with somewhat of the center crest line Victor is looking for.. have a swell weekend. Got the eye-muffs, score…
Another awesome ep. Ian funky fun mobile, simple design looks really fun. Cheers Master builder another winner!.
Thank you for sharing.🛸👽👍
The prper way to ensure a crack doesn't continue is to drill a hole at the end of it. This effectively stops the crack and it can be welded up afterwards.
Lovely neat job on the steering, cant wait to see it being driven!
My parents bought me a new baby blue 1974 Chevy van and these seats in your sand rail look exactly like those seats. Pattern and all.
3m leather care will softer that vinyl comes in spray let si and absorb then wipe down great product
Howdy Ian and Jamie, Im planning a trip to the US, love to drop by and have a few beers
Those seats are toast...time for a recover maybe a project from a fan
i was thinking, mind your leg but yeah the seats...lol....thanks for the vid
Thank you for the entertainment.....love the content.
You are welcome!
Keep up the great work with the channel.
Multiple projects is fine it’s fun to see multiple things progress!
But my favorite part is seeing you guys engaging with the audience. As a long time fan I’m so glad you don’t just fade from our consciousness like so many other motortrend builders
The roadkill guys are great about that too
I wonder if your LED alien will fit inside the heart window😮❤😊
True projects are always work in progress! You guys rock and are inspiring!
Between Ian's videos and others from 'home shop garages' I have felt better about my wedding. I still think a blind monkey on crack can weld better then me but I try. You two are killing me here: Ian, I think I will leave that tab on there, it looks cool. Jamie: it looks dangerous, spoke like a true ER Trama Nurse. Trick I learned many years ago when I was racing my dune buggy was to mount a truck marker light so it was pointed at me from the dash or steering column and connect it to the generator warning light, if the light lights up you know you lost your cooling fan.
That’s exactly correct 👍 only oil pressure and electric charge matter in this arrangement!
I just dig how you two work together my favorite CZcams channel forsure. I was going to post seat covers But its not my car!!🤘👽👍🍻🐕
Thanks
Thank you!
Talk about lost: one of my mates "lost" a mouse in his '63 Impala! He'd bought a couple to feed his snakes, and one got away.
Never found the little bastard, either!
I remember watching the video of you putting this together.
More buggy time! ❤️😎
If that is an original '57 buggy it would have had a 36HP 1.0L motor, or at most the 1100 with the round top fan housing on the motor. It's always nice to upgrade the cooling on them as they run so much better when they're not running hot.
Thank you for touching base with the buggy project, I was wondering what happened to that.
Good stuff Ian, took me back to my Off-road Racing when I was in South Africa, happy days! We ran a VW chassis with a Lancia flat four.
I haven’t seen Ian’s requested comment, so here goes…
IAN, why don’t you just put covers over the seat?🤭👍🏽🤠
Happy aloha Friday 🤙🏾
Man that thing brings back memories. I had a Myers toad not sure what year but it was an awesome sand rail
Hey guy you could just try putting seat covers on them 😆
Thanks Berry!
Maybe some seat covers lol and a grab bar for Jamie so her arms aren't flying everywhere. Try some saddle soap on the seats it might work to soften them up but not too much you don't want to get run over. Have fun.
Yes! Some Mexican blanket covers will look very hip on those old seats. Dan S. from Michigan and Texas
Stay tuned
I miss those Santa Ana winds in the evenings. So why don't you add a grab bar for Jamie. Safety 2nd lol
had an 82 Dodge van. had those same seats in tan
Thanks for the show guys 🍻
Thanks again for the inspiration, along with the xs650 bobber with the smoke system, I’m also building a Volkswagen powered single seat high wing airplane. Modified Legal Eagle with full VW.
If I watch enough of your shows maybe I can get something finished!
Keep up the great work!
Steve, from Dallas Texas.
Cool video ,thanks guys!
Custom, one of a kind seat ventilation holes 💨
Cool Buggy.
