    World of Warcraft The War Within Alpha gave us our first playtest of new allied race the Earthen Dwarves in the Ringing Depths, but it seems they won't be the only new playable option in this first chapter of the World Soul Saga. As testing of the Hallowfall zone looms, we look at three new playable races and customisation options which appear to come with it. The Arathi Half-elves will give players pointed ears for humans and rounded ears for elf players. The Harronir appear to be the "missing link" in the Dark trolls evolution into Night Elves, proto-elves if you will, and have so many customisation options in the data that they seem certain to be a new allied race. The Lightforged Forsaken finally make their debut appearance after Calia Menethil was first empowered by the Naaru in the Before the Storm novel. We take a closer look at these new player options and customisations!

      If they has to really create evolved quillboars, they would have looked more like dwarves, probably. The best example of reused skelettons are probably Vulpera being technically Goblin allied race. Even if their personality remind a bit Goblins too, their model is so reworked that no one would ever think about a link between the two races. Just like they could resuse their brand new (and especially expensive) Kul Tiran models for a bunch of mobs, like Rexxar.

    I'm always excited for new playable races but I kinda just wish it was standard with every xpac to just add a bunch more options to existing races. Blizz could do well to spend an expansion adding more body types/postures (like with the Dracthyr and Orcs respectively), tattoos, markings, hairstyles, skin colors, eye colors, faces, piercings, tusks, height slider, etc. Like I know they have been adding stuff here and there, I'm just saying I wish it was kind of a standard going forward to add a good chunk of customization options with every new expansion. Especially if they're not going to give us any kind of sliders (which makes sense because I'm sure this would be an enormous undertaking considering how diverse the WoW races are. Most modern MMOs with sliders basically have one model/skeleton to worry about across all races (E.g. Elder Scrolls Online, SWTOR, etc...), for instance. So I get it. It's the tradeoff of having so many vastly different models/animations between all the races.

    Just a note, the reason Forsaken are pained by the Light is that they are powered by Shadow magic. Lightforged undead would possibly not be in be in pain because of the differing animating force, and could possibly find a way to either combine the opposed elements ala Discipline, or replace the magic that sustains them.

      They would in turn struggle with Void spec tho.
      Shadow being Death in that context BTW. With Shadowlands we returned to the right terms to separate it from Void (WoD with BC references mixed up so much things, it doesn't make sense as a whole anyway)
      Cosmic forces are indeed meant to encounter with each other. We see it all the time, like demons and titans using other cosmic powers. (In chaotic and ordered manner) As long as they're not direct opposite, which are yet two sides of the same coin (or magnet).

    1st - I am sooooo hyped for the Arathi - I have known about them for well... about 18 minutes now, and I am deeply emphatically in love with their look. Ditto on the Harrodin who look just... wow. Just wow. I know it's not likely but I'd especially love it if we could have like, the small elf ears on regular elf models too... WoW floppy long elf ears are... idk. A bit much. Even the short ones are pretty massive. YMMV of course and that's valid.
    2nd - Lightforged Undead and Paladins - Honestly I've always thought an undead paladin makes total sense in a sort of self-flagellation way. Like, self loathing undead who will embrace the pain because it is 'just punishment for their abominable existence' (something they would say not something I'd think as a player). It just feels like a thing that would/should exist tbh?
    That said I'm totally down for Lightforged Undead, just because they seem like a weird and neat concept, and I'm always happy with things getting Weird.

      @francescoporcari8597 Před měsícem

      Undead Paladins are exceptionally rare (Sir Zeliek, Leonid Barthalomew) and although they've been around since Vanilla, they haven't been implemented as a class combo for a reason: it would take the exceptionality out of such character and the world would be soon filled with Undead Paladins.
      Undead Holy priests are as exceptional as paladins lore-wise (Alonsus Faol is the only known character), but game-play reasons allowed them to exist, as it make sense to have Undead Shadow Priests.
      Lightforge Undead are Danuser's nonsense, and I'm happy they kicked him out: the whole Primus' (what the hell does the Primus knows about Light) answer to Calia make no sense.

    • @Aztonio
      @Aztonio Před 22 dny

      I don't agree if the ears. Big long ears, and eyebrows, are especially what makes Warcraft elves so special and epic, and less basic humans, compared to other fantaisies which all look the same.
      I find those half elves especially light but let's say they're not 50% elves and the original population obviously had more humans in it. (just like their culture shows)
      I agree on undead paladins, their uniqueness should be preserved but like any other race, they're just priest-warriors in gameplay (it's just that simple, that's something really important to remind about any Vanilla classes (and DK...). There is no consensus and everything HAS TO shift culturally beyond the dumb gameplay)
      Lightforge undeads are a very good idea and no one knows who found it, they're probably several people and very intelligent and cunning.

    10:26 I believe the terms to use that don't imply a hierarchy like "evolved into" are "more/less derived." Night elves are a more derived form of trolls. It notes the changes and that they share a common ancestor without the implication that one is better than the other.

    • @7PlayingWithFire7
      @7PlayingWithFire7 Před měsícem

      No he is correct. Things mutate constantly. Evolving is just mutations over a long period of time. The reason people hear "evolved from" and assume superiority is due to darwinists and other unsavory groups hijacking Darwin's science as rhetoric for genocide and racial superiority.
      In reality there is nothing to suggest that previous species are inferior. They suited their climate better than their descendants would suit that climate. They adapted to the climate they suited best at the time. If they didn't, they'd die due to natural selection. That's all it means.
      That means any species that is currently alive has spent billions of years evolving.

    I unironically applaud Blizzard on their decision to give all human and elf variants the half elven customization options, as opposed to making a new actual race they'd have to design. It's the best option for resolving half elves tbh. I love Arator's model in Legion, but he's gonna get at least a minor update for Midnight, guaranteed, but likely a fully new model that has the face of a human, but the pointed ears of an elf.
    And I firmly believe that that "Airship" tag along with the Earthen and Harronir refers to a (preferably mobile) aerial player housing. Because it doesn't have to exist anywhere specifically in the world. You could theoretically assign it to anywhere in TWW zones, or maybe just an airdock in Hallowfall (more realistically). The people of lordaeron were the original paladins, they worshipped the light. Before tbc, many speculated that forsaken paladins were coming. Forsaken priests still use the light, it only makes sense that the undead paladins would still have their connection to the light

      @@gabrielwest5361 like I said I have no real reason I don't like it, you could justify it but I think I like the idea that paladins have this like extra spirit or conviction or something that is what allows them to not just channel the light like a priest but wield it as a weapon and the idea that getting raised from the dead like that just breaks it or like the experience the forsaken had to go through just made them so jaded that they can't or don't want to anymore just feel right. They could justify it in game but I really hope they dont
