"It’s the most frequently asked question from fans of Forged in Fire-”When will we see bladesmiths compete against our judges?” Now, they are about to get their wish. In each episode, previous Forged in Fire Champions return to the forge for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity-to square off against our renowned Forged in Fire Masters in the highest stakes forging competition yet!
The challenges require higher skillsets and there are more tests to pass. First, the smiths must prove they have what it takes to challenge an icon by beating each other in a series of win-or-go-home forging challenges. The remaining two smiths will then compete with one of our seasoned Judges to create a fully functioning blade that will be evaluated and tested. If the challenger can find a way to prevail against our Judge in an intense bladesmithing showdown, they’ll walk away with $10K and eternal bragging rights."

Hi im from Philippines
Hi im from Philippines to
Awsome where are u from
Lets just talk in our language
Ok
I love that the judges are actually good at what they're judging on, and not some wanna bes like in other shows.
jgd480 agreed
*looks at Masterchef Australia*
@@tableslayergaming At least Marco Pierre White was there a few times.
yea we always focus whether the weapon will keel but neglect to remember Dough will keel. I've seen his instructional karambit videos and that dude would cut you down like a pig before you could even react. He's not just a random dude swinging swords around he really is a edged weapons specialist.
no they arent. Have you seen the absurdity of the strength tests they do?
In 8 hours, Dave made an arming sword that most people would dream of making in several weeks. It's insane. The fit and finish is unbelievable for the time span. It's historically accurate and extremely lethal. No wonder he has made every sample weapon for the smiths at the beginning of every episode.
isnt Jay making the reference weapons ?
@@EmberTheShark They may have switched back and forth. I was told that Dave made every weapon but things may have changed over the years.
Didn't know that
EmberTheShark J. And Ben make the first and second round weapons to see if they can be done in the time allotted. Dave makes the final round weapon, to see if it can be done in 4 days.
You would probably hire this guy in medieval ages to forge weapons for your army, he's that good lol
Dave didn't even run - he skipped his way to the finish line, whistling the entire time, and producing a gorgeous, polished sword.
It tells a lot about how subjective our perception is. I used to see him as a "fat colonel Sanders." Now he started working the forge, and suddenly he is a "very tall dwarf."
@@marcusc9931 i mean he is only known as one of the best blacksmiths in the US if not the world
I think there may have been a cartwheel or two on the way to the line too..
@@marcusc9931 lmao
I only know about the two ABS master smith in the show and they have to be incredibly good to be recognised as ABS master smith - of course the other judges have to be there equal :3
But seeing them in action is surely a blessing
Little known fact is David typically made the weapons used as the example for the final round and used it to test to see if the challenges were feasible
Yes, the judges do this before every single episode to make sure that challenge is feasible since each episode has different challenge.
Never knew this
Wow, that a great fact, thank You very much for sharing that
Ohhh I thought that they randomly chooses what weapon that they want to replicate
Wow David is nuts
Dave is the most iconic out of the judges IMO. Not only in his style, but the way he tests the weapons and the way he makes his weapons. I don't know who came up with this idea but man the participants are gonna go out empty handed.
You're so right brother
I feel like Marcaida is the more iconic judge 😂. It will keeeeeellll
He looks like the Coronel from KFC XD
Doug is the most iconic by a long shot. He's got 2 of the 3 tests, and he's even got catchphrases for them.
@@NySiiS He doesn´t have as big of a role during the Knife making round, which is tbh the biggest part of the show. So i can understand that the oppinion of "most iconic judge" can differ. I bet there are a lot who would argue that J. Neilson is the most iconic. At leats in the earlier seasons.
ofc Dave is really good at smithing he looks like the dwarf that would forge the legendary sword plot device to kill the demon lord
Thats because he is.
a 6'1 dwarf haha
Dave looks feeling relax when he is forging his sword, but the guy looks very busy all the time.
It's always amazing to see something like this so you can see the escalation of skill and how time and expeperience just make you a surer worker.
Confident, organized, and relaxed go together well.
@@kennethfharkin Considering he's made more arming swords than Forged has had contestants.
Had a stroke trying to read this
Dave used to make props for movies and had to deliver works with very tight schedules.
I really enjoy the 'Beat the Judges' rounds - that's a tough competition to win!
I love your CZcams channel
8 hours and a master of the art as opponent? Yeah extremely hard for both.
But always judges won
@@Qwe-vb3vv nope
@@Qwe-vb3vv Burt Foster beat J Neilson. They did a set of fighting knives. J lost mainly because of too deep of a finger well. Burt's knives were amazing looking.
best idea this channel has ever had
Affirmative
I didn't imagine that the judges are a master forger man... 8 hours is enough to make a good quality sword💪💪💪
@@Pkoi1988 all the judges are actual bladesmiths, having 8 hours for something like that isnt easy though, but the judges are mastersmiths, they dont just pick random people
I used to wonder why he was qualified to strength test and evaluate blades for the show.
Used to.
Baker is the man , when Hollywood calls for a blade they ask him. He made weapons for deadlist warrior tv show(that's where I 1st saw him) , but come to find out that a lot of the swords seen on films are his creations. I actually thought he'd be the toughest of the judges to beat.
mike s Exactly. Case in point. He made an amazing blade in 8 hours and the other guy barely got a sword to the table.
Welp, he IS introduced as the expert for historical weapons and weapon recreation. I would bet that he has more knowledge in medieval weapons mastery than Doug.
he is the most popular and respected bladesmith in the world
@@4Curses Doug is just a lethal weapon himself. He doesn't make them.
Dave making a sword, is like a nice grandma baking a cake. Did it a million times and is sure to deliver something amazing
When you first start smithing in Skyrim vs. Level 100 Smithing
I hope they forging SunlightBlade 👽
I want to like this comment, but I can't bring myself to bring the number to 70...
@@capcom099 Dawnbreaker :D
Eorlund Graymane comes on to challenge Dave. 👍
Would love to see another spin-off where the judges each mentor a smith and have them compete in their stead
Thats a sick idea dude would love to see that
I just wanna see a Will vs Doug episode. Neither have any real training in smithing, but it'd be hella interesting to see what they've both picked up during their time on the show.
@@derpyduck5088 thats a genuinely fun idea, but its too unfeasable
@@anonymousmouse7161 Why's that?
Duuuuuude
Most importantly "it will keel"
He's going overboard with the schtick a tad.
@@ourkeving its been a running joke on this show for a while, sometimes he does it sometimes he doesnt
I like how much fun Dave has making this sword. You can tell he is a man who loves what he does.
Dave forging his sword was so mesmerising
1 second after seeing David step in, my man knew he was walking away with empty hands
"FLAMING SWORD, OH MY GOD!!!'
Beric Dondarrion is gonna be very proud.
Nah Stannis
god dont remind me, the horror of season 8 will always taint my memory
5:38 That is the best reaction I've ever seen in my life
Dave would be a riot to work with i think.
When you've finally made that midnight snack:
This is what i call Master Blacksmith, not only they make high quality weapon but they also ensure all the weapon they make is right at the requirement.
Except that Jay is the Master Smith, not David, he's a great smith for sure, but he's not qualified as a master smith
5:38 And I present to you, caveman Dave!
🤣🤣🤣man I laughed so hard
Why did he lost?
"It wasn't long enough. "
That's what she said.
*loose*
@@Charlie-tw3ef you mean lose?
you lost yourself big man :(
At 8:16 listen to that sound editing a whole fake string of sentences 🤣🤣
Omg that is hilarious
Yeah im laughing my lungs out here looking for any comment to see if anyone else heard it xDDD
Sound like when my phone bot is reading something😂
lmfao i’ve been looking for someone else who heard thst
Dave Baker is like boss from Dark Souls. He looks awesome, he has the skill and the abilities to defeat you time and time over and over.
This isn't even fair. It's like making a high school track star compete with an Olympic gold medalist.
i mean, im pretty sure thats the point
Now Catering Fried Cheese yeah you go up against the best in the world
@@monroe8458 yeah fully agree. I think it's nice to see the skill difference. That's how you get better, competing vs people better than yourself
@@mentally_till it really gives me more respect for the judges as well
@@monroe8458 Exactly, if you can see the judges compete in the same parameters then you can respect their judgement when they are picking a winner in the other episodes.
“It’s exactly 3 pounds”
Yesss
“But you missed the parameter by three eighths of an inch”
*Disappointment**
When you only like the video because of how excited Dave gets after meeting the weight limit😂
Forged in fire wanted to stop people complaining about the show and its Judges..
So they are doing this... 😂
Good that theyre doing it this way. Why didn't the complainers use Google or even Bing Search to look up who the judges are. Ridiculous.
Yeah, people are too lazy to look up the information on their own. Besides most people only learn what they see on tv anyway. That being said love seeing the judges work. Honestly I might even prefer to just see them make the most beautiful weapons they could rather than competing.
To be fair, people are only complaining about one judge in particular.
@@Akaoni21 wait, who are you referring to? Really clueless
@@efumali probably jay
a lot of peaple think that his strength tests are impossible and stupid because they're not realistic
The laugh from the judge after the sword was revealed was priceless 🤣
Its incredible just how quickly Dave works. I heard him say that in the business of making Hollywood props you often have to build something in a day but this is just insane.
In fact Tod Cutler said you often turn something in and they decide it won't work and you have to modify it or make another.
Forged In Fire: "This week our contestants are building the most iconic of all sword types... the medieval arming sword."
Hollywood: "What's that? You're telling us there's a sword that exists that doesn't have a 2-handed grip?!"
8:19 dude turned into a robot for a second there xD
LOL
to those who say the judges dont know what they're talking about watch this XD
Yeah, that's surely some skill, but still the way Doug thrusts is so un-combat like, would love to see him doing ones with proper speed and body mass put into it
Yeah we know that noe. But you can't take some of their tests seriously. Like when they smash a sword into a hunk of ice and miss.
@@janekgaganek3871 Doug is in fact an edged weapon combat specialist and except martial artist, I think he knows what he is doing.
@@SirTwomo He knows what he's doing for Kali, which is a martial art that incorporates knives and is from the philippines. He is not an expert in every edged weapon, which you can sometimes see in how he handles the swords. He has gotten better as the show has progressed, and I agree Jan Dudziak's comment is incorrect, but it's fairly clear he's much more comfortable with shorter blades rather than longer ones.
@@13374me kali is applicable to all weapon and unarmed. The thing is, i think the show's director is making him strike in a certain way. The way he strikes in this show isnt even Kali-like. Watch some of his vids floating around in yt.
I could watch Dave forge anything all day and night, and I could listen to him explain every process and not get bored
I’ve never forged in my life but watching this makes me want to give it a try
Dave on the panel looks so cool, so calm.... Then at 5:40 YES! This Sword, me make, I make metal into sword! that fantastical caveman moment.
Mr. Baker with the Caveman joy! 🤣🤣🤣
1:04 When i get a good grade in school
5:39
"You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have absolutely been found wanting."
Steven has been weighed, measured and found wanting.
Dave is a much cooler guy than people think and he is obviously a great blade smith. The challenger Steven was super cool and humble. It would have been great if he could have won. If I were younger this would be a hobby I would definitely be getting involved in. Hats off to all the people that do this, and do this well.
Anyone else notice the sound for steven being all cut and chopped up to make him say something he probably didnt say? 8:17
Seriously that's all cut up!
Ikr
It's called editing.
The Energy Dave has in the forge, that's really amusing to watch, he's just loving every single second of his job👌😍😍
Darn - Steven seems like a gentleman and such a good dude - would have loved to have seen his blade on the carcus. That said - Dave Baker just continues to impress - well done, sir!
By far one of my favorite episodes in the years of me watching Forged in Fire
This season is really cool, i like the beat the judges shows.
Baker coming out of that smoke with a big grin on his face got me pretty excited haha. He’s a beast!
That's why he's a Judge.
David Baker is awesome!
Ben fought, Davie fought... Now it's J Neilson's turn to battle against the finalists of their own show. Way to go Forged in Fire 💜💜
“And... It WiLL KeEL” 😂😂😂
5:37 Ive never seen a judge be this happy
i absolutely love the beat the judges challenges. get to see more of the judges awesome personality.
absolutely love the sportsmanship too
Dave has the coolest entrance ever!
The difference between the swords is incredible. Dave was super chill
So fun to watch the experts back up their talk with that.
The Judges are allways so chill, way ahead and bringing evertime a beautiful peace to the test.
I always wanted to see Dave's forging skills. It was impressive, fantastic.
This was one wholesome episode. Thanks!
Always happy to see a new video in my feed
Can I just say I love watching these just to watch them?
@3.15 The most beautifully and evenly heated price of steel I have seen. Dave is a true master.
this is a must WATCH!!
Been waiting for this for a long time!!
The amount of fun that Dave is having really shows true mastery of his craft
i love that moment when he said *it will kill* and his Face reaction tooo😂😂😂😂
Love this beat the judges series!
The joy on Dave's face when he makes the weight!! 🤣🤣🤣
Baker's laugh at 1:03 was like the meme of the cook
i havent seen david this happy in years
this is actually interesting to watch in lockdown
The judges are like boss battles
Watching forged in fire is wholesome
Is this like a new series!?!? this is awesome I want more of these challenges!!
Very, very useful tips!
Fantastic Charity Dave 👌🤘, Congratulations for your Perspicacity 🎉 Love From India 🇮🇳
This versus judges stuff is amazing thanks history
I really enjoy watching Doug's facial expression when he says " It will keeeeeeeeel! :)
Great episode
now we need judges vs judges.
You just want to cry when perimeters are not met... I know how much work goes into what these guys do... Especially under the time table. Good Job... Dave
I love how this episode has a judge as a competitor!!
David Baker is the GOAT. Ben could be undefeated, but the shear casual attitude David brings to the table, shows that forging is like breathing to this guy... 🙏
Great show!
That challenge allowed me to know way more out of judge's personalities
It's like David vs Goliath. It's just that Dave is the Goliath 😆
I tend to disagree. The Goliath lost that fight. David won with superior skills. Missing a 2" range for the blade length just shows the contestant´s skill level was not even close to match Dave´s.
At least they did not check the parameters for both swords before the kill test. It would have been even more disapointing not seeing at least one sword in action.
You can see how smooth Dave does this work. The experience 🤯
Dave always knocks it out of the park in a very short time. Its baffling that someone could even produce a functional sword in that amount of time but his is always extremely functional and very very beautiful. Its mind boggling how good he is! If I had the money I'd easily pay 10k for an 8 hr blade from him. David Baker, cutting away from breast cancer 1 slice at a time!
I love David. Idk why he just seems like someone you’d have a beer with lol
Ok I love Dave's reaction to the weight at 5:39
Awesome to see that the judges are are at the top of the game. Probably why the show is so successful and such a raw and truthful watch. No bs
Love the idea of competing against the judges. We've had some talented bladesmiths on the show but seems like the judges are on another level!
like a noob fight with a master lol
This is a testament to how skilled some of these judges are.
Dave sir Always does it in Half of time❤
This is actually totally amazing
Dave is my man! So well deserved to be a judge.
3:20"ive got a straight long blade so im like yahh"😂😂
great twist to a great show.
freakin love this show , even judges compete with participants
