    Idler pulley has worn bearings and causes a hissing sound while running (on very cold starts, the bearings make a loud worn bearing sound) - check out my video on replacement
    ( • Mercedes Benz C230 (W2... )
    Tensioner pulley bounces (video coming soon on replacement) - Bounce was due to seized alternator pulley (video coming soon)
    Power steering pump had a very loud rattle at idle. I thought this was timing chain but a mech's steth pin pointed it to the pump. Pump was replaced and the sound is gone (video coming soon)

    Putting the car in neutral/D will help recreate the noise and help it stay constantly to diagnose it.

    Hi Your noise is caused by the alternator decoupler pulley bearing being seized look up Decoupler pulley to understand and repair.

    Hello. This is what my power steering pump pulley sounds like... Can you suggest me to a video that will show me how to replace my power steering pump? I've replaced my serpentine belt & all other pulleys are good! 2007 c230 sport 2.6l v6 automatic (m272/w203)

    More than likely the AC pulley is failing. Usually people will replace power steering pump and still hear it. When the ac pulley fails it breaks apart violently. Mine did it. Broke into several pieces. MB engineers are too smart tho. U dont have to get a new belt (unless its damaged) just have to use a different path to by pass the AC until u fix it. No need to buy another belt luckily my belt didnt get damaged so i just by passed ac until i was able fo fix it

    When u say power steering pump rattling at idle, does that mean when you're are in drive? I having problems with rattling around water pump power steering area while in drive and I already replaced water pump and the belt tensioner and it's still there

      Try the pulley on the aircon compressor. The clutch inside sometimes gets loose and rattles. Just a suggestion because I had this problem and cured it.

    Please help ! I have a 06 c230 115k miles about a week ago I noticed a pretty loud rattling noise coming from the engine ... when it’s idle or stopped the noise is loud but when moving it is quiet if not any .. when I kame to a stop for a minute my car stalled but then turned back on ... I took it to firestone n they could not tell me what was wrong only said “internal engine noise” and they can’t get inside to see ... today after driving n parking I tried to start my car and the car would not turn over , got a tow home , popped hood , tried to turn car on and when I looked at the serpentine belt it tries to moved but the bottom left pulley (alternator pulley I believe) does not want to give and seems to be stuck.. could this be the noise and why the car does not want to start now? I have not tried to jump the car yet.. please get back to me

      Sounds like timing belt

    • @SteU4IA
      @SteU4IA  Před 3 lety

      If you suspect the alternator pulley is seized, you should have a undercharged/dead battery that could possibly be causing the no start condition. If that's the case check the battery voltage etc. Does the starter try to crank the engine at all?

    I have a same kind of noise but a bit louder like a knocking sound, car is in 118000km with regular service, but the sound started all of a sudden. I took to workshop and they are saying it's a blown engine. I don't even understand how can Mercedes engine blown away so easily. I feel that its something related to pulley or tensioner.

    • @SteU4IA
      @SteU4IA  Před 5 lety

      It could be a timing chain rattle, which is not uncommon considering the most common mechanical failure in the m271 is timing chain related. I used a mechanics stethoscope (or any cheap dollar store one) to localize the rattle. It ended up being the power steering pump.

      @@SteU4IA thanks a lot for making wonderful videos and replying to me. Now I have some hope. Can you suggest any good mechanics or workshops where I can take my vehicle and who instead of directly coming to a conclusion of engine failure by only hearing knocking sound, Check some other underlying problems. It would a great help. You can directly mail too at kmelbhagathe@gmail.com

    • @robertporter4501
      @robertporter4501 Před 3 lety

      The workshop doesn't know what its talking about. When my one C230 had done more than 255,000 kilometers, in a moment of insanity I took it up to 215 kmp, about 130 mph. I think you have some issue with a pulley. Maybe alterator or aircon compressor pulley, or belt tensioner.

I have this weird sound when I start up the car, when I accelerate from idle, or when I steer the steering wheel completely to right or left (that's where I hear the noise most) ty if you can help me : czcams.com/video/S5GW85LAijo/video.html

      Hey! Yes it does sound like it's PS. One quick way to diagnose this is go to the dollar store and buy a cheap stethoscope. If the knocking is loudest right at the PS, well your diagnosis is confirmed.
