Homemade Vole Traps

  • A few winters ago we had 850% more snow than normal. As the snow melted, we discovered 60% of our back yard, and 30% of our front yard, was ruined by voles. I have another video where I power rake it, and the yard survived with some gardening love, but I vowed to never have the same issue. To that end, I turned to CZcams University, and found that people were recreating these T shaped PVC traps that you can buy online. The cost of my three was significantly cheaper than what you get online, and I like the custom 30 degree beveled edges to keep rain out.
I put them in three strategic spots around my house, and I have had to put more bait on. It works. They almost ate an entire tube in one spot in a few spots in the spring this year. It will "thirst them" to death, but I don't care. You'll see in the video what they do.
This year (2024) people around us in this valley have had big issues, and we remain vole free. Not to say I don't see them still, but I only see them once type of thing.
Don't be afraid to move the bait stations around if it goes awhile without any activity. Keep them out year round and check them every two weeks in the winter. That food source will be critical to these devils in the winter.
    Good luck!
