White Boy Speaks Jamaican Language

- Me and my friend @frankieslight went to Jamaica (the neighborhood in NYC, not the country) and spoke some Jamaican patois (or Jamaican creole), which is the national language of Jamaica. It’s based on English but it is a separate language, and you can learn to speak it just like any other language. Here in Jamaica, Queens we got some classic Jamaican food like patties, jerk chicken, and ackee and saltfish, and people were really surprised to see a white guy speaking Jamaican patois! And this was also my first time as an American trying Jamaican food, and I loved everything!

So, their language is English with some jerk seasoning
Yoruba, Igbo, Akan, British English, Irish English, Portuguese, Hindi
No they speak Patois which is the national language of Jamaica. It has a lot of English loan words but that’s where the similarities stop.
Tell that to Chet.
@@AnarexicSumoi mean it sounded like he said
Yknow where i can find some real jamaican food nyam?
Even i could figure that out haha
false jamaican here our language is almost the same very little that is really different @@AnarexicSumo
EVERYONE in the world wants you for their son-in-law. LOL Much respect to your lady wife!
As opposed to a man wife 😂
he should go for it. We need more people like him in the world.
Of course. Whatever language his in-laws speak, Ari will be able to learn it in 6 weeks!
@@OperationLove2000Never know anymore.
@Tojo89 well you do, they just don't know
Jamaican language just sounds so insanely fun to speak
it does
you’re so right it does
Shoutout Chet Hanks
Especially when you fight with someone, it's a work of art :P
The way he speaks Jamaican really makes me realize how celtic the language is because it has all of the hallmarks of English with a very heavy Irish accent. A lot more similar to Gaelic than any of the African languages I've heard which is just so fascinating given the history of Jamaica. The African influence is very subtle but the Celtic influence is really in your face more than I thought...
Try Dutch. My ex from Jamaica their last name is from Germany.
@@bandhead06 You'd be surprised by the Gaelic influence on German as well and especially how common German last names are on the British isles. But given the history of not only Jamaica but the people the colonized the island it really is amazing how things come together! 😁
@@kimmiewise1044there’s no such thing as the British isles
'Dem Jamaican pattty dem' fuckin dead 💀
LMAOOO cryin
its the irish english influence
It actually translates on your comment to “the Jamaican patty” 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was creasing, doubled me
She left auntie alone😭😭🙏🏾🙏🏾
"Alright, come with me" 😂😂 shes so sweet
That's Jamaicans. You won't find more nicer people. Always willing to help.
maybe she just wanted to give pum pum :P
Bro those camera angles be crazy 😂🤣
I was waiting for someone to say 😂
Lol I know!! 😂 I showed my Mom (who's not techy at all) his Ireland video (we're Irish and native Irish speakers) and her reaction was "Is there something wrong with him? Is he okay?" because of the camera angles 😂😂
She thought that that was just how he looked! 🙈😆💀
Yeah, looks like he has 360 degree cam attatched to him.
360 camera
i love Jamaican accents so much man
Same, i love rabdomly saying bomboclat whenever theres a reason to.
its a language, not an accent
Try and say 'beer can' with a British accent, and you get 'bacon' with a Jamaican accent
@@CorperalWafflezIt's really on the border between a dialect and a separate language
@@quokka_yt Yeah it's a creole , which is when 2 or more distinct languages blend together to be able to communicate with others
you should do that world map thing but instead of putting a pin in all the countries you been, pin all the countries they’ve asked you to marry one of their women 🤣💀
Nah that opening line got me WEEEAAAAAK 😂 😂 😂
When this dude said. Yuh know weh mi can get some real Jamaican food fi nyam got me hyped up. Proud to be Jamaican.....on errythang
These videos helped me realize I needed to start learning Mandarin so I can talk with my girlfriends parents.
To be clear, they know English but talk in Mandarin amongst themselves, I would like to learn how to ask to marry their daughter in Mandarin because having their blessing would mean so much to me.
@@linxy21411I wish you well in your endeavor, an admirable endeavor indeed.
@@linxy21411Thanks for being clear and letting us know you have a gf
@linxy21411 You should do it! Just don't forget to do the tones right!
@@linxy21411do what he does walk around talk to others first and make sure you’ve learnt it well enough beforehand. although even if it’s not the greatest i’m sure they’d be more than happy considering the effort and if you’re a good man. but they’re also asian parents and from the memes maybe won’t be so easy
I LOVE HOW ITS SO CLOSE TO HER MOUTH EVERY TIME SHE SAYS JERK PORK IM CRYINGGG
I love how that sounds...the inflections in how they talk are filled with warmth and culture
My boy valid in Queens with the Patois 💀

i'm from singapore but i wanna try jamaican food so badly!
EEh, recipe book, gwaan in a de kitchen ca yu hand dem no nook...
Keep up the great work. you bring the world together more than you know! thank you for all that you do man!
Ive been trying to learn more about Jamaica we've got some recent immigrants in my town that buy weed from me a lot and I gotta try to learn some patois
There's nothing to learn honestly. If you're an english speaker, you've already got the entire language, it's just the manner in which they speak it and like 20 recurring slang terms.
@@YourPalHDeeNot true, it borrows heavily from French, Yoruba, and a dozen other languages besides. There are many English loan-words but it’s not English
Please dont
@@YourPalHDeeexactly
@@AnarexicSumothen howcome I can easily understand it
I'm thoroughly convinced they just make stuff up 😂
If you’ve ever been to the south then you KNOW they just make it up. VERY similar to the structure of old creole French. Would just be French and English slang words strung together as densely as possible. French colonist areas in the west have all gone bonkers with the way the cultural and linguistic styles mix. Canada has some pretty insane linguistic comedians as well now that I think about it.
@@cyan1721 xqc… that dude talks his own language all the time I see clips
@@cyan1721it absolutely isnt like french based creole wtf and we dont make stuff up. Our creole has no english in it either because in the islands where we actually speak French creole we arent making it up, that's our language we have been speaking since centuries. What they're speaking has nothing close in term of structure to our language. You're speaking about specific areas not where people actually speak french based creole 🙄
Oh yu dunno
@@franzlubeck9669 yeah, X talks a little english and then strings like 500 words together, no spaces, no periods, no commas and speaks it like he is reading a 400 page book in 10 seconds.
Yeah Mon ! 😁 Dem Jamaican Patti's 🔥
Old millennial reference but you remind me of Donkey Lips(I didn’t choose his name. Blame the 90s) from Salute your Shorts in your thumbnail. ❤
Omg...i cant unsee it now 😂
🎶 Camp Anawana, we hold you in our hearts
But when we think about you....

Now this one i can do, but oddly with women I've been told not to do it but with guys, they just respond and speak back. Wonder why.
Is potwa influenced by English too? I noticed English words mixed in
That's definitely Jamaica Ave in Queens NY
I like how you use their accent in english
