    in my opinion showing recognition that a country exists should NOT neccesarily mean supporting that country as it seems to work now. In fact, Palestine and Israel are obviously different countries. Recognising Palestine as a different country shouldnt always mean you support palestine, or vice versa.

    • @yoavboaz1078
      @yoavboaz1078 Před měsícem +20

      How are they obviously different countries? They have the same currency, they have the same capital, only Israel have a legitimate army, only Israel issues a passport, only Israel is a member of the UN, only israel has elections, Palestine has two different governments that hate each other, the Palestinian government that has international recognition is pretty much subordinate to Israel, they have no functioning border. Imo there clearly isn't a palestinian state currently. There probably should but there isn't

    • @Grymgar
      @Grymgar Před měsícem +16

      The main reason to support the existence of a Palestinian state is preservation of Palestinian identity and the ability for them to advocate for themselves on the international stage. Whether we agree with their governance or not is a separate question from whether or not they have the right to exist as a national polity. Personally I think there needs to be a one state solution, a sort of "state within a state" model that resembles tribal governance in the US.

    I think you’re a little misinformed but have generally the right idea, chief problem I saw being the idea that Israel wants to control Palestine and not annex it, which is untrue, they want the land, not the Palestinians. That’s abundantly clear. Connected to that, the settlers and settlements are a deliberate choice and policy to place civilians into areas to annex them without declaring annexation (it’s illegal anyway, under international law) and to protect from Palestine just conquering the settled area back. As for why North Korea recognises Palestine, it’s because they see Palestine as a kindred spirit of sorts, having been divided in two with half granted without permission to others, by foreign powers, and then the Palestinian people being subjected to brutal warfare and occupation, like Korea was subjected to Japanese occupation, and total flattening by the Americans during the Korean War, in the first two weeks. Hence, North Korea has a lot of sympathy for Palestine, and it’s one of the few things Korea does on the world stage.

      Agreed!!! but everyone should, obviously not just Israel because that would simply come off petty and childish which to be fair would probably be a compliment to netanyahu in comparison to genocidal psychopath. Palestine Catalonia basque country Kurdistan western Sahara Taiwan West Papua Somaliland and many more all deserve independence!! Obviously it's harder in some places than others but in general there just aren't enough countries right now. There are way too many arbitrarily drawn lines (particularly in countries that were colonised) and completely distinct culture's forced into larger countries around the world right now and it just isn't right. The world would be such a better place if these places got their independence. Just look how much warmer the relations between Ireland and the UK have gotten since our independence, we even have the right to live work and travel visa free between the two countries just as Ireland has with the rest of the EU and it makes the quality of life so so so much better and people here are happier and richer too. Who knows in a century from now maybe these places will get to enjoy the same things with their neighbours too if things go well and if not at least they have the right to tell each other to stay out of their particular country rather than all this unnecessary death. Most of the time the countries subduing and forcing places to stay a part of their country do it solely for monetary purposes or/and they're corrupt and power hungry. New Caledonia is a great example that springs to my mind for some reason. It really is a tragedy that people are so brainwashed or uninformed on these kinds of issues these days.

    • @agme8045

      What a stupid comparison. Ireland was colonized by the English, the English starved to death Irish people, literally. Catalonia was never forced into Spain, it was never colonized or subjugated. Spain itself is a product of the union between Castilla and Catalonia. There’s no Spain without Catalonia.
      Regarding the Palestine thing, Israel literally maintains Palestine alive, they give them water, food, energy. Palestine can’t survive without the help of Israel, because for decades Palestine focused on destroying Israel instead of developing their own country. Israel is even the home of millions of Arabs and Muslims, because who wouldn’t prefer to live in Israel? A country with opportunities, that respects every ethnicity, religion, gender and sexual orientation? I mean, if I had to choose, I definitely choose Israel, I’d literally be sentenced to death in pretty much every other middle eastern country just for existing as I do.

    tbf .. all this is rooted in a "spiritual connection" to a land.. wich was the reason jews wanted to move there.
    I dont agree with religious reasons for formation of nations, i feel religion causes only strife as seen in this example too. The jews fled the ww2 holocaust for obvious reasons, but why move to an equally hostile place in the middle of a bees nest? they knew they werent welcome down there yet they kept migrating there. That i dont get because .. there were alot of countries ready to accept jews afterwards! but due to spirituality they insisted on THAT region.
    Its dumb because its opening an ancient can of worms that were mostly settled 1300 years prior .. so, i will conclude that the reason for the hostilities around israel is basicly because of the zionist movement itself.

    • @agme8045
      @agme8045 Před měsícem +3

      It’s not just religious reasons, Jews are also a nation, and an ethnicity. Even before Israel came to exist. They could be compared to gypsies. Borderless nations.
      They didn’t just want to move to an other country again and become a new hated minority, just how it happened time after time everywhere they went. They didn’t choose Israel because of spirituality, they chose it because of history. Their culture, their identity, roots in that region of the world. They are a Semitic group, with a Semitic language. Jewish people were already living where Israel stands now, before they created the state.
      Why are the Muslims more entitled than the Jews to have a state of their own on that region? Israel won the war (well multiple wars actually, and none of them started by themselves) and people still can’t accept that the land belongs to the state of Israel, that it’s a multicultural, multiethnic and multi-religious country, that accepts everyone regardless of who they are.
      People often claim Israel must cease to exist because they are colonizers, well if they are colonizers, what about the USA? Brazil? Argentina? Chile? Should all those states cease to exist too? Should we all give the land back to the indigenous people? If anything, Israel has a much better claim to the territory of Israel, than any of the countries in the americas have over their own territories.

      @@agme8045 my point is muslims have historicly held the land longer than the jews did, at some point its better to cut the losses rather than open an old wound that you werent even a part of. Also, jews werent a hated minority after ww2 at all, but this destruction of gaza is only causing this hatred wich i also see as unjustified since jews and israelis are two different things.
      To be fair, anti-semitism is not something that should be illegal as its basicly just like disliking any other religion. Disrespecting things like sex, race or handicaps i understand to be wrong, but i never put religion in that category since religion is a choice, things like sex, race and chronic illnesses arent.
      Also, muslims did allow jews to practice and stay within the region for years, but all ot takes is for the jewish population to become a majority in the region for them to starts occupying more and more land and take it from the arabs.
      Thats where the bad stigma of jews come in, the stigma of jews being untrustable and i hope netenyahu sees that whats hes doing only further makes people see jews as a less peaceful folk but more as an ambitious people of supremacy..

    • @agme8045

      @@retchie7355 jews never stopped being a hated minority, antisemitism (which you seem to think it’s ok for some f-ed up reason) has never fully disappeared, sure, there isn’t a government actively killing Jewish people in mass (except for the terrorist government of Palestine ofc) but the amount of antisemitism around even nowadays is huge.
      The amount of harmful stereotypes, “jokes”, “conspiracy theories” that many, many people believe to be true, are all part of antisemitism, and are in many ways mainstream ideas accepted by huge groups of people (remember Kanye West?)
      You can’t seem to understand “Jewish people” aren’t like Christians or Muslims. Antisemitism isn’t just hating Judaism as a religion, it’s hating Jewish people as group of ethnically and culturally related people.
      I’m an atheist, I “dislike” religion in general. That doesn’t mean I’m antisemitic, or that I hate Jewish people.
      Also, your logic is pretty weird. Disrespecting choices is fine? I don’t see gender as something natural, but as a person’s choice on how to express their identity, does that mean I can hate or disrespect people based on their gender identity?
      There’s (a lot of) people who think sexual orientation is a choice and that people choose to be gay, does that mean they can disrespect me based on my sexual orientation?
      Lastly, if you are one of those people who believe different human races exist, then being Jewish is considered to be a person’s race. Which would automatically, by your logic, make antisemitism something wrong.

      @@retchie7355so so so many things that are just blatantly historically inaccurate in this comment. First, not going to get into the whole “who has claims over the region” because personally I find it to be a useless endeavor. Both groups have historical claims going back thousands of years and the impact is the same, there’s no point in discussing whose is “more legitimate”. Saying that Jews weren’t a hated minority after ww2 is actually historical revisionism, there’s a reason why the nazis were able to accomplish so much and it’s because they sowed seeds of hatred that had already been there for thousands of years, and hell Jews are still a hated minority today, even nearly a hundred years after the Holocaust. Your point on anti-semitism is uneducated, judaism is largely an ethnoreligion, and also a world minority religion. Jews make up less than 3% of the US population (highest Jewish population in the world besides Israel btw) and yet they are 60% religious hate crimes in the country. Being ethnically jewish is not a choice, being religiously jewish is, and Jews have been persecuted ethnically for thousands of years. Saying Muslims allowed Jews to practice their religions in the region is also not exactly very helpful given that they were eventually forcefully expelled from the countries in waves, whose families makes up a significant portion of the population of Israel. Now I don’t agree with the extremes of Israel’s military actions but please keep informed about the contexts on both sides.
