Guessing you could also use one of those as a stud finder or wire harness finder for RV's

Sounds like it. I’m sure if you used it enough you’d be able to tell which was which based on percentages.

Use that same exact meter for checking moisture content in firewood. Most campground owners are selling you wood that is overpriced which you already know. But what you don't know is it typically has way too much moisture in it. The meter will explain what wood starts on fire easy and what wood is hard to start and smokes like crazy as it's too wet.
    5% too dry
    10-15% just right
    15-20% still ok
    20% and higher, too wet.

A simpler way to “know” what readings you should see is to look for anomalies. If an area of the trailer is reading differently than same/similar areas THAT is where you should suspect moisture. For example, check all four corners of the trailer (because it is common for corners to leak). If one corner reads very differently than the other three you may have a problem.
Great video and the comments you read were great too.

Thought it was odd that when you moved it towards the door it never went to 100 % again. There had to be more framing in all that distance

There is one more factor of using a moisture meter and that is they wont be that effective in dry climates where it may not rain or the rig isn't exposed to moisture.

Great video, thanks for posting. A thermal imaging camera can also be used for moisture detection, it's much more expensive but can be handy for many different applications if you're a DIY person. Keep the videos coming. 🙂

I own a property management company and use one all the time. Also use it in my house to confirm our toilet flange is no longer leaking 😂. Never thought of using it for preventative maintenance/catching issues early. I will definitely be using it this spring in our camper!

On the issue of condensation: Is it best to use dehumidifiers at all times or just in the cooler months (assuming you live/camping in a dry climate)? We understand the importance of using a dehumidifier and are currently in the market for one for our 26' TT. Just curious as to how often it should be used. When in storage, we place 2 "DampRid" buckets in our TT. Great topic to cover, btw!! Thanks in advance.

Here is Georgia we use the large DampRid trays year around. I’ll have to refill about 2x a year or so. Very important to use some type of moisture elimination technique.
