- Sunday 10th December 2023, and it's the Croydon Brick Festival!
My final festival of the year - follow me from my early morning start, setup, look around the event and clearing everything away afterwards.
Will this event be successful for me, or will it be a flop! Watch to find out
Only just caught up on this, busy day!! But glad it went well although not as well as you expected … wonder if it’s a small sign of the times!! Maybe, who knows!!
Thanks Lee. I hope its not a permanent sign of things to come.
@@iainsbricks Let’s not hope so, but you saw it Sunday and mentioned from other recent events!!
Me personally, I’ll just ride the storm it won’t last forever and things will pick up.
Noticed the trade email today mentioning possible new events for 2024!! 👍
And finally if there isn’t another video from you now, I’ll wish you a Merry Xmas now mate!! 👍
@@leeshurmer7063 I think once we get into the Spring, things will get back to normal. I have a couple of other none Brick Festival events lined up for next year, so it will be interesting to see how they compare
@@iainsbricks Look forward to hearing about those!! 👍
Good to see you today Iain, as always good fun catching up with you and all the other traders who are also on the discord. Thanks for showing my stand :)
Thanks Fred. I'll do a roundup video during the week and give a few shoutouts
Lovely to see Fred's minifigure set up ❤
@Iain, It was an absolute pleasure meeting you today and discussing Argos’s problem with damaged larger boxes. Hope to bump into you again in future. All the best!
Hi there. Thanks for stopping by for a chat. Great to be able to put a face to a follower of the channel. Hope you had a good day at the festival
Brick Festivals have done downhill, I started last year and have done about 8 in total, sales have continued to fall. Some traders taking the piss with prices, and its embarrassing. I have stopped altogether now. Best of luck.
This is the only Brick Festival this year where my sales were fairly slow. I've done 5 other BFs this year and all have been very busy. Maybe there are just too many of these events now ?
Good to meet you today Iain. And many others from the discord! Nice video.
Nice to meet you too Will.
Hi Iain. Just wanted to say what a pleasure it was meeting you today. Things were slower than usual for me too, but I really enjoyed meeting you and all the other traders which definitely made up for it! Hope we cross paths again soon 😃
Hi there, yes, it was a shame things were a bit slow at the Brick Festival. I'm sure our paths will cross at another event soon.
Always such a joy to see your stand and your videos Iain.
Thanks Jai
Nice video. :)
I think these brick festivals will continue to get quiter over time. I've stopped going to any of them now because most of the displays are the same everytime. It feels like they just bought half a dozen things from some good moc builders ago 2 years ago and just tour them around the country. why are there never any local lugs at these events?
Hi Gary - yes, I think you are right and most people have probabseen it all before. Having said that though, the last 2 Brick Festivals in September and November were very successful for me. They do need some new models though. I'm not sure that the Brick Festival people and the LUG committee get on that well! 😬
Informative and entertaining as always Iain. I really must find a sealed classic Batman batmobile - really annoyed I never saw that when it was out 😒
Thanks Graham.
14:10 that is one huge stall. Seems quieter over there
Yes, those guys always have a massive table.
Another enjoyable video Iain 👍
Thanks Rob
It looks good wish I there still selling my LEGO 15th + 16th and the 17th 2023
It was fairly quiet unfortunately. Still made a bit of profit though.
Hi Iain do you find your customers at these events are fellow investors or just regular public who don’t know as much about the sets?
You get a mixture. Some AFOLS who know a lot assets, to families with kids who are just there for a day out.
Nice set collection you have there. Do have still have that molding machine from the Lego house set for sale?
Hi Rick. Thanks - yes I do still have the moulding machine, although I only sell Lego sets at Brick Festivals or other events.
@@iainsbricks ahh that's a shame. I am in the Netherlands so to far from the events. Thanks for your reply en continue you Lego journey 😁
Nice display!!! Good way to sell off Lego as ebay is very expensive and no need to pack!
Thanks Christopher. Yes, I much prefer selling at events like this as opposed to ebay.
Thanks for the video insight Iain. Didn't think you'd sell as much given that it's so close to Xmas. Or maybe your silly hat affected sales?! 😂
Hi David - yes, I think I may have scared a few people away!
@@iainsbricksWill you be doing the London Brick Festival in Feb?
@@emperorsgrandads No, I'm afraid I won't be there.
Think the prices were slightly a little on the high side for now as people could buy the sets for roughly the same but have it delivered on ebay . Also there is a lot of discounted current sets available online.
I did actually check and lower a few of my prices as I'd noticed that ebay sold prices were generally a little lower than they were in early November. There were certainly fewer people in the hall at the 10am slot than there usually are.
A lot of Lego seems to be underpriced to me. A few of yours i feel are worth more. And one of the other guys stall you showed Eg saw a guy selling the inquisitor ship for £80. That’s £10 below retail and it’s discontinued. And the Luke skywalker helmets for £50. Madness. What kind of reseller is this guy 😂.
Getting prices right is quite difficult. Charge too high and things will be more difficult to sell. Even though I could potentially sell some items for more, I like to sell my sets at a reasonable amount, and in line with sold eBay prices.
Hi Iain,
I’m currently not into brickfairs to sell my sets as I like shipping and logistics (since it’s my work as well).
I like the way you orepare the sers in poly-zip bags and want to use this for my sets to protect them from moist during shipping but also for storing my long-retired sets. You said it took you some time to figure out what sizes to use and I’m in the same situation.
However I don’t want 100s of each bag to “try”.
What sizes of bags (L x W) do you mainly use? LEGO sure has some weird unique box sizes..
I get my zip lock bags from variosellers on ebay. Size wise, I just get a variety of different sizes - trick is to measure a few different sizes of boxes and buy bag sizes that match.
Most bag sellers will sell only in 100s so you will just have to buy the amounts available
@@iainsbricks i would assume so. But some sizes are continuesly used by lego. Take for example brickheads, of the size of those HP banners.
If they are commonly used as a box size it would have saved me time, but i will try to find a store that has samples (or measure perimeter to compare by 2x bag opening and see if that’s similar)
Hello , do your sets come with the clear seal round them or is that’s something you add yourself ?
I sometimes add the plastic seals around the sets as it protects them a but more.
No Mr 😊 with you today?
Yes, Anthony was there.
Spme festivals are better then otherss but this way you get to meet new people.
Yes, despite the lower than normal sales for me, I got more time to chat to a lot of people, customers and vendors
Shame it wasn't that busy
Yes, it was very slow today in comparison to other events earlier this year, but as a bonus event, I still made a small profit
