  • Bill Spicer is in beautiful Wyoming fly fishing for...not trout, but carp! He is guided by Mark Boname on the flats near Alcova for big carp who will aggressively take a streamer fly. Really exciting fishing and a truly beautiful part of Wyoming! www.thenewflyfisher.com

    Very bad handeling of these Carp. Never ever lift a Carp with a bogagrip as they have extreme sensitive lips and they are to heavy to lift. Just use a landingnet.

      good point, and anyway, could people stop using bogagrips for fish that hove no teeth? I wouldn't even use it for pike

    Nice to see that Carp are finally getting the respect they deserve. They're the Bulldogs of fresh water fish here in the States.

      But this guide seems to not respect them. Look at his bad fish handling. Terrible!

    I gotta get back up there, that lake is amazing. Caught really nice trout out of there. Seen massive walleye at first light but couldnt get into any.

    Nice vid, are unweighted black wooly buggers good for carp?

    • @PieterSnyders
      @PieterSnyders Před 6 lety +1

      Dominic Blondeau in shallow water where fish are cruising it can be useful. Have a look at a fly called a Carp Tugger, video available on CZcams. In most cases you would be dipping tailing fish

      @newflyfisher  Před 6 lety +1

      Definitely as are other buggers in other colours, weighted and unweighted. Good question!

    You lost my interest after the first minute....love your show but who is that “guide” ....just a joke using boggas in general but a carp???

  • @russellkastner400
    @russellkastner400 Před 5 lety

    First one landed was a Leather Carp.....not a mirror. A mirror have fewer larger scales. The guide is full of shit!!!!

  • @eedjaq02
    @eedjaq02 Před 6 lety +1

    Carp are invasive stop condoning this type of fishing

    • @russellkastner400
      @russellkastner400 Před 5 lety

      They were intentionally brought to North America in the late 1800's by the first U.S. Fish and Wildlife Commisioner, invasive species are accidental or illegal introduction!!!

    • @rudyruiz9521
      @rudyruiz9521 Před 5 lety

      Incorrect. Mirror and common carp are Naturalized, they aren't invasive. Other types of carp are invasive like big head and silver carp. The carp in the news are those types. These common are actually good and although they eat eggs and compete for some food, their fry and smaller carp are food for all sorts of game fish. The other types of carp are filter feeders and take all the food away from native smaller fish killing a fishery.

    • @michaeldriggers7681
      @michaeldriggers7681 Před 5 lety +7

      By your logic, rainbow trout, brook trout, brown trout, lake trout, walleye, pike, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and muskie are all invasive species. Cutthroat trout are the only native trout species in Wyoming.

    • @FrZnPredator
      @FrZnPredator Před rokem +1

      @@russellkastner400 intentional release doesn't make a species non invasive. An invasive species is one the entirely restructures its ecosystem its introduced into. Example in my province smallmouth bass are highly destructive and invasive where brown trout are non native. Smb will exterpate the native trout browns will co exist with them and while yes the browns have a negative impact on tge native species its a limited impact and they never exterpate native species here
