      No, Seles profited from three extremely favorable factors when she took over the #1 ranking fir two years in 1991-93:
      1) Navratilova was already 34/37 years old (and yet beat Seles 4 times!)
      2) Graf was in a major slump during the infamous Graf Blackmail Scandal (lost 7 of 8 matches against Sabatini at some point in 1990-92)
      3) Hingis (who always - sometimes brutally - had Seles‘s number) was just 11/12-years old.
      The stars just aligned for her.
      Court, Evert, Navratilova, Steffi, Hingis, Venus, Serena, Henin at their peak were clearly better players.

    2) Worst slam final loss ever (26 16 against Graf, Wimbledon 92)
    3) Loss to the youngest player ever (Capriati at age 15 years 128 days, San Diego 91)

    • @jamesr2164
      @jamesr2164 Před 10 měsíci

      "Worst head to head against any opponent?" What are you talking about?! Here is Graf's petty, immature, and crazy fan at it again. Even though you hate this she is still among the discussion as one of the all time greats, because she had only been on the tour for a couple of years and accomplished so much before the stabbing.
      Yes she lost to Navratilova here and there, but Navratilova was still a fierce competitor even at the end of her career, and Steffi lost to Navratilova as well. Yes she lost to Capriati, but Capriati was also a great player. Even Steffi lost to Capriati at the Olympics. Yes, she was not invincible, neither was Steffi, Martina N, Serena, or Evert, but after just a short time on the tour she won Grand Slam after another and was charging a head like no other in the open era.
      Still to this day no one has won as fast as much as she did in the open era before her 20th birthday, and her momentum was only stopped because of a crazy psycho fanatic that was so desperate to help Graf get back on top. Kind of like you who go on all of Seles' videos just to try to diminish her accomplishments to lift Graf up.
      I'm curious. Don't you also wish the stabbing had never happened so we could have seen what would have really happened in the end, or are you secretly glad that it did happen? Because all I see from you all over these CZcams videos is how much you hate Monica, talk about how ugly you think she was, and try to diminish her accomplishments in any way you can (which is exactly what you just tried to do with this ridiculous comment).
      Truly is no surprise that when Graf heard that Monica had been stabbed, she said I sure hope it wasn't one of my crazy fans. And here you are decades later still trying to talk crap about Monica because of your obsession with Steffi. You can't even stand it when someone is just talking about how great Monica was. You have to comment and try to diminish her accomplishments just to try to lift Graf up, because obviously you hate Monica so much and the fact that so many people believe Graf would not have won as much as she did if the stabbing hadn't occurred. But in the end you got what you wanted, just like Gunther. But here you are still decades later saying nasty things about Monica. You are truly a sad individual.

      This is exactly why you hate Monica so much, because to this day she is still spoken of very fondly of by fans and by those that played the game before, and those that are still playing.
