One thing I like about the format is we see more matchups between different teams. I like this because it means we will see more matches between the giants rather than clubs playing each other twice. I don't like that this means there are more games overal for each club. The schedule is already overcrowded and the trend of adding more games will reach a breaking point if UEFA is not careful.
So this new format is not healthy at all for each teams.They have to play extra two games before qualify to next stage...not like it all all
It's worse for smaller clubs because out of 8 games who do u think gona win against weaker clubs. This way madrid bayern man city, etc. Will play against 5 or 6 shit teams and win more. Overall though it doesn't make a difference when u think about it.

@@vampir6286 2 more per team, with more teams than before. The schedule was already too crowded as it was. This is just going to cause more injuries for the players. Then the big teams will just start benching players to rest them. There's no way the smaller teams are going to have the squad depth to be able to compete. Plus, people can only watch so many games, so a lot of this is just going to go unwatched.
This reform of the UCL is the 2nd in history. Every consecutive reform of the system (roughly every 40 years) is designed for more internatinal games to be played and to be priorized over the national level.
With each generation, UEFA is driving further toward the replacement of domestic leagues with one pan-european league. Its a process.
I'm actually open to seeing how this season plays out. But if it's a mess, they can always go back to the regular group phase.

I think that's the whole point to kill of the Super league.
It's actually a much better format, at least you won't get some of the big teams just crusing to the knockout stage without really playing anyone. Last year Man City was in a group with RB Leipzig, Young Boys and Red Star Belgrade and FC Kobenhaven as their round 16.
Also as a football fan we get better and more competitive games to watch.
Little group stage is boring. It's the whole team group stage, and it's more interesting.

@@belive7316We never needed more champions league games, UEFA did. We never asked for a change in the format and to be honest, group stage format is much better and more exciting. We'll never get a Porto or a Marseille winning the ucl ever again with this format. The only reason they changed it is to have more games and henceforth earn more money.
