Denim Maxi skirts are one of the biggest fashion trends for 2023 but all denim is having a huge moment.
I swear this is the only DIY video you'll even need, if you want to turn your jeans into a skirt!! This is everything we will cover in this one video;
I am showing you how to create a Mini, Midi and Maxi Skirt.
-We are doing the wrap around, disjointed waistband.
-Front slit and back slit.
-Released hem and cut hem.
-Stretch and no stretch.
Pick and choose the different elements that fit your Style Language and highlight your body in a way that feels good to you.
These are all sewing projects but you could start with fabric glue if that is within your skillset. Just keep in mind you will want to wash sparingly.

We used to make the mini skirts in the 70's! And with the left over denim we would make a drawstring "purse" ! Love your videos, love your creativity, love your positive vibe! 👍😎
love that idea!!
Glad to see the rest of the world doing what I do. I literally have about 10 in my closet. I can't stop making them . Gonna do a 2 toned one next. Love me a denim skirt
hahah love that
Unreal! I bought a pair of men's premium denim yesterday on super sale with the sole purpose of making it a maxi and here comes my DIY guru🎉. Girrrrl! I'm so excited to get this done. All those ideas.🤗 You're da Best! Thank you🤩
omg we're connected!
Takes me back. I made these skirts years ago and love that they're timeless!!
The “red ball in” tip was game changing, thank you ❤
The first maxi with the interesting hem is my favorite! Heading downstairs right now to my “donate” bags to see if I have what I need!
yess! love it
Not one, but THREE LENTHS!! I love them all!! Best tutorial ever!
I ordered all those button thingys that you featured in your last video. Looking forward to having fun with them 😊
omg they seriously come in handy more then you would think
I’ve been waiting for you to do this tutorial! Thank you for showing the variations in lengths as well as the variations in fabric. Stretch denim behaves so differently than regular denim, it’s good to see how you handled it.
You are so welcome!
Finally someone using the seam ripper the right way. Hallelujah!
omg! haha yay!

Olá Orly, muito obrigada pelas excelentes ideias! Saudações desde Ilha da Madeira, Portugal ❤😅
My friends and I used to do this In highschool:)
I wish I learned how to sew. I have done your glue skits and had some issues with the glue coming up done a bit . Any suggestions? What would you consider a good inexpensive sewing machine for starters, do you what you just did, hems etc ?
I would love to have a 2 toned one, do you think you could give us a tutorial on that?
That first one ❤😁
exelente me encantó, el video y me encantan las faldas jeans ,donde veo una la compra, tengo montón de ellas.
Great video Orly! Have tons of colored "Mom" jeans from the 90s that I was gna donate. Now they may be rescue jeans?! Hmmmmm
Tfs...Lauri
omg do it! Although they sound super in right now as is haha
Thanks for the great lessons!
Is there a reason that you and pretty much every up-cycler do not cut the 'triangle' off the rise? Why not cut the little overlapping flap off?
It so 😍 😊 post more learn
What size needle do you use and what stitch please
You should get more views ❤️
Cutest!!❤
Does your discount code work for Canadians? BTW, I'm a huge fan of your channel, gorgeous clothes, ideas, and presentation!! ❤
Love it, if only I had a sewing machine 😩
Great video. Love the necklace. Do a DIY on it please
it's ROCKNOT! my accessories brand :) rocknot.com
Great sharing 👍🌺☘🌻🍀🌷🍁🌳
Use to be quite popular in the 70s too
Oh for sure. Nothing is new lol
Could this same technique work for turning kids dungarees shorts into a kids dungaree dress ?
❤❤ your so beautiful 🎉🎉
❤❤❤
I love this.
I how about skirts into pants?
whoa! mind blown
You madam are amazing❤
thank you so much!
I have to say this. You are beautiful!!
A tip for finagling the crotch & bum pinning/seams etc, use a high contrast thread & a very wide stitch until it’s just right, then go in with your final thread & tighter stitches. That way it’s easy to rip out if needed
This had a short resurgence of popularity when I was in highschool in the 80s...& Mom talked about them doing it in the 70s. 😅 Everything old is new again!
100% there is nothing new anymore lol
That was perfect we just got a machine will shall see lol my husband what's to learn also lol lol
😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Ladies if you uave curves, put the skirt on and mark the length on your body becaise curves pull the faclbric up. ❤
Turning jeans into skirts are awesome but have you ever tried to turn a skirt into pants?
Something makes me think she has.... 😂
I have but it was a huge cotton gown like size 22 I wear 14
haha I haven't!
Depends! It depends on how it fits you and it depends on the style of the skirt, it should be quite big to have enough fabric for the rise if not then you wouldn't have enough fabric and will end up discarding all the project or will have to piece it together like patchwork...
She has now!! Newest video!!
Today , I just turn my husband old jeans to skirt.
If your upper part (main portion) of the jeans jeans are loose enough, then you don't have to overlap the crotch/rise part at all. It's just a straight seam.
I dont think so actually. Well, I have never seen a pair where the little crotch piece lays flay. It usually curves because its meant to go back towards the seat.
This is Amazing honestly this video is one of our favorite tutorials! We would like to have a collab with you, let us know if you are interested? 😄
AUGH! "Like, like, like, like, like . . ."
Minute 3:15 the excessive chatter is over and the sewing info starts.
When you model it and I still can't get behind it, I know it's not a trend I'm jumping on
That's the best thing to know! Know what works for you and what doesn't and then only incorporate the things that make you feel amazing
There are many ways to turn jeans into maxi skirts and this design is impractical and just about unwearable, as well as unattractive IMO.
I wish I learned how to sew. I have done your glue skits and had some issues with the glue coming up done a bit . Any suggestions? What would you consider a good inexpensive sewing machine for starters, do you what you just did, hems etc ?
Hmm you're using fabritac? That's the best glue in my opinion but IU try to only use it on projects I know I wont be washing. It's technically machine washable but it 100% shortens the lifespan when you wash. So try hand washing or spot cleaning.
