When people ask me what's the most underrated film, the one movie that I love that no one else seems to talk about, I always answer MEAN STREETS!!!!
Its a very, very, very ok movie, what you want me to say. Average at best.
@lamareaton God bless you for your impeccable taste! the film's climax shows where some of that $300,000.00 for musical rights went .CREAM's live version of 'Steppin' out' helps electrify the story's ending. it's used as sort of something they're playing on Charlie's car radio. I say that because on the live CREAM II record, Clapton's banter "right you are", is included, and it's in the film. I can't think of any reason why that'd be in the film(being so easy to leave out, as it's not at all part of the music), except that they wanted it to sound like a car radio. this is where we first see how brilliantly Scorsese merged visual w/ audio.
the fact that it ended the way it did because they just got tired is honestly hilarious and a nice way to wrap up a directorial junior effort that only scorsese could be forgiven for
Eric Clapton treated Scorsese disrespectfully regarding music rights, he allegedly took every dollar he could screw out of him, In a less than gentlemanly manner.
clapton a loser
Jesus after watching a couple videos on Scorsese on this channel it makes me feel for this guy. The pressure and debts this guy has faced is just monstrous
Just watched for the first time. It’s now one of my favourite movies.
Next up- Taxi Driver
Same. Something about it is unique compared to these other films.
It's my favorite Scorsese film. Maybe not his best, but my favorite.
@@stevennieto9898 I feel the same way.
@@stevennieto9898 if you compare it to The Godfather 1/2 that came out around the same time- Mean Streets give us a view of gang life from the street level, whereas the godfather is very much the top down.
Absolutely Florio's video thank you for the educationionel background for this flick🥂 I absolutely adore this film it's easily one of my top 10.
man, that was great. I wish there was more. people don't understand why this is my favorite Scorsese film. I have to remind them that Scorsese was broke, and unknown at the time, and this was a labor of love. I think it's Pauline Kael's favorite Scorsese film. even Jerry Lewis (who seldom if ever, got a good review from PK), voiced respect for her knowledge and understandidng of Cinema, overall.
"i'm a mook? you cant call me a mook. what's a mook?"
fantastic
Great video man 🔥🔥🔥
loved the video. i learned a ton.
AMAZING REVIEW
I love this movie
Jon Voight was asked to play the role of Charlie before Keitel was casted believe it or not. When Keitel was casted he wanted to swap roles with de niro but apparently Martin put his foot down and said no.
