  • This is a look back on Vinnie Johnson's career. Vinnie Johnson nicknamed the microwave for his ability to come into the game and provided instant offense. With his ability to creat his own shot from good handles and running of screens for jumpshots. Where he'd utilize his skills for the Detroit Pistons. Helping the bad boys pick up two championship rings. With him playing a key role in both with big playoff games.

Thanks for showing the Microwave some love. Vinnie paved the way for players like Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford.

Anytime one of my coaches decided to bring me off the bench I instantly thought Vinny Johnson. Dope video!

Vinnie was put together like a football fullback but he could move laterally and had very long arms. It was amazing to see him at 6'3" get off jumpers in the paint against centers and power forwards and SCORE them. Vinnie is also very intelligent and articulate and fun to listen to in interviews. Vinnie was a joy to watch. "In your face" was his motto. One of the best 6th men ever.

I literally thought those exact words. Whenever this man came off the pine...look out! He was the next level of one of my all time favorite players coming off the pine in "Downtown" Freddy Brown. He came off the pine sizzling hot and he could do it all, understood the assignment with humility and toughness. He didn't talk trash and you didn't want to talk trash to him either. You could tell Jordan had the utmost respect for him. Hands down my favorite Piston player.

Yeah bruh,he develop on NYC playgrounds. I wanted him to be that guy, but was coachable and he did a very solid job of toning his game to fit in with the scheme of Pistons basketball. Underrated... He would be a 25-30 5/5 GUY in today game. Without question..

VJ should be in the HOF as the Ultimate 6th Man. As a Bulls fan, I hated DET! But I had mad respect for The Microwave and "Quiet" Joe Dumars. THANKS for shining light on Vinnie Johnson.

On that Pistons team Thomas, Dumars, and Johnson could all play point guard and shooting guard equally well. They never missed a beat when either was on the bench. Youngsters don't realize how important Johnson was. Just imagine over the past 10 years when Steph Curry sat down, his team didn't miss a beat on offense. Or if the starting offense is struggling, just bring in the Microwave.

One of my favorite players, ever! I'm amazed at how little he and Dumars are mentioned, when people talk about, greatest 2 guards. Thanks for giving him the attention, he deserves!!

Fun fact: the game winning shot Vinnie made against Portland in game 5 of the 1990 NBA finals was the last game for the NBA on CBS. Starting in the 90-91 season, the NBA went to NBC. NBC made the deal to take over during the 89-90 season(they outbid CBS for the TV rights).

Great documentary. The Microwave is one of my all time favorite players. I actually had his poster back in day, which ŵas him standing over scorched basketballs. His 34 point explosion on the Celtics in the playoffs was one of the greatest Pistons performances ever.

Love that old-school Palace court with the painted lanes and circle, and the logo at center court was beautiful, after years of having a red donut with "Pontiac Silverdome" on it. The courts today, they look like something a drunken middle-aged Korean businessman puked up after too much BBQ and soju.

One of the most underated and overlooked shooting guards and sixthmans of all time, and one of my favorite playets of all time, and the definition of a great streak shooter. Also my favorite nickname of any player. Awesome to see a career retrospective of him on youtube he deserves it.
