Brian Cardinal : The Custodian Who Kept The Floor Clean
This is a look back on Brian Cradinal's career. Brian Cardinal was never a flashy player on the court but boy could he hustle. Cardinal made a living off of diving for loose balls, taking charges, and being a pest defensively. Earning him the custodian nickname for being on the floor all the time for loose balls cleaning them up with his knee pads. While also having a three-point shot helping spread the floor as a stretch four. Never lighting up a stat sheet yet it was the little things that defined cardinal’s career. An unorthodox one at that not even getting recruited to the school his dad worked at. Having to red shirt his freshman year. Before finding time to shine on the court at Purdue showcasing his effort every time, he hit the floor. Becoming a fan favorite for his effort. Then barely making the NBA as a second rounder. To not long after fall out of the league having to play overseas. Before returning and thriving in Golden State as one of the best three-point shooters in the league on top of providing his toughness. Bouncing around some after before ending up on the Dallas Mavericks who he’d aid in winning an NBA championship.

  • @allclassallthetime4739

he retired playing his last year hoping that he'd win a ring with the lakers. i think also the lakers thought it was a good pickup because he'd be that mentor sort of paternal presence there who could actually speak against anyone in that locker even Kobe. a guy like him if he had more in the tank or even greg anthony would have probably made a difference with keeping that core together, though B Shaw and Foxie were supposedly those guys, they still weren't those guys that Kobe had that class of his own respect for. who knows, but even D Fish was considered one of Kobe's die hard teammates and he couldn't hold it together for the core group either.
