wait so you're encountering it and if it's not shiny, you run away then open your camp. Then you exit your camp and you can immediately encounter it again, rinse and repeat until shiny?

I found out the method through a misclick of the town map and my camp and realised
“Well I know what I’m doing now”
And I did get the Spiritomb
I legit subscribed and literally 20 seconds later got a 1st encounter shiny Lugia from the max raid dens!!!!

I got shiny spiritomb after maybe 250 encounters and it had a weather mark the sodden one 😅 i was hoping for thunderstruck. It was my 2nd ever wild shiny and first and only wild shiny with a mark.
This is one of my favorite shinies! I’m soft resetting for the Regis and using this method for the swords but for anything else I’m prolly gonna use the Masuda method! I love challenges but I’m so impatient 😅😅 congrats on the amazing Spiritomb!

I finally got my shiny Lunala today after around 50-60 max adventures woooo
damn.. been doing this for days.
I'm trying to get shiny Spiritomb with the quirky nature in both Pokémon Sword and Shield.
I have the shiny charm.
My lead Pokémon has the synchronize ability to nature lock Spiritomb.
I knocked it out 500 times with the last 25 knockouts being consecutive for maximum shiny odds in my favor.
I have encountered and fled from it at least an additional 50 times after the knockouts trying to encounter it as a shiny.
I've heard that for some Pokémon that increasing the number of times that it's been knocked out doesn't increase its shiny odds but, I can say that each encounter has a chance of spawning a Spiritomb with the opposite gender from the previous encounter.
What I'm trying to figure out is did I do something that inadvertently locked it from being a shiny or is there something else that I should try, or do I just keep at it?

I’ve never actually done an encounter method hunt of any sort... I have participated in raid events, and I have done Medusa method
Just do what you're comfortable with. I'm a simple minded pleb, so I have to switch up my shiny methods every now and then, or else I risk failing shinies or screwing up the hunts because of my boredom haha.
Masuda has been really reliable to me. I've gotten about 5 through it (Axew, 2 Ralts, Zorua, and Pawinard) and I don't think I have the patience for encounter methods anyway besides soft resetting on 3DS games, that's how i got my first shiny legendary back in Ultra Moon
what are the 1:1365 odds about? I thought S&S had the same shiny rate as gen 7 but I never played the DLCs

Yeah right now I'm setting up battle encounters for zigzagoon, but have about 6 boxes of dratini eggs and I'm also at about 1000 SRs for shiny Cobalion lol. Ppl really need to shut up and let people shiny hunt how they want, especially since every shiny hunter knows the pain of facing disdain from other players who view our playstyle as a waste of time. 🙄😅
