One time, I was 9 years old in an in-store tournament, my battling sucked and I didn't know what a shiny was. I sent out the shiny Krokodile (Pokémon White) and the guy there offered a trade that I regret. "Hey man, I'll give you this one *shows a lv.100 male Pikachu* for your Krokodile." I liked the Pikachu, so I did it.
Emerald, Rayquazza, shiny... I accidentally reseted becuz I tho its not shiny... I cried for some days.
That last guy was such a good sport about it, despite the fact that he went almost a solid minute without knowing what he just did...

Friendly reminder: even though it may take longer, make sure you EXAMINE your starter before resetting.
Because if you reset on a shiny it's gonna be a lot longer to get it back
In omega ruby and alpha sapphire I always make sure the pokemon lands 1st before I reset.

Like when I was hunting bagon on route 3, I was accidentally looking in the wrong patch of grass(the one with delibird) and didn't know until I found a shiny mankey. Then when I found a staryu next to the wela park volcano, I surfed back to the land and found a shiny wingull. Both random encounters, neither of which I was hunting for.

Polar Cold Did you not here the story behind it? She was playing her game and not really paying all that much attention. When she was looking at her laptop, out of routine, she resetted. That isn’t dumb, I’ve done it about 3ish times, it happens to just about every shiny hunter at least once.
Still a stupid mistake, in my opinion. A shiny could appear at any time, so a shiny hunter should always stay on guard and actually see the Pokemon before soft resetting.
Not sayin' it's not a common mistake. I'd probably repeat the same mistake for three+ shinies... heh...

There are about 30 or 31 boxes in ORAS and 30 pokemon slots for each one, if you shiny hunt a lot, wonder trade or breed you'll eventually fill up all the boxes.
Honestly I've almost run out of room a couple times while breeding for shinies, but I have pokebank so I can store them elsewhere. When you're going through hundreds of eggs, it isn't hard to run out of space

First shiny I ever encountered was as a kid in Pokemon silver. I ran into a shiny ratata at the start of the game but couldn't catch it because it was so early I didn't have pokeballs..

Yeah, I used a gameshark on the earlier generations, I could spawn anything I wanted into the game, including shiny pokemon, genders, levels, stats, etc, and trade them online if I wanted to

I do shiny hunting and I run out of pokeballs all the time. I buy repels, healing items, and countless pokeballs. I run out of money ingame all the time. Us shiny hunters don't have time to constantly get ingame money

My first shiny was a poochyena in my first play thorough of emerald. This was when I was a little kid and I didn’t know that shiny’s were a thing. So when I ran into in I got incredibly hyped and immediately tried to catch it but since I was freaking out I accidentally pressed run instead of pressing bag. I didn’t play for a couple days after that.
In all fairness, that shiny Poochyena was uncatchable anyways.

In order to get 999 master balls in sun and moon you would need to play 4 hours to 5 hours * 999 times nonstop which would take at least 166 days and 12 hours to 208 days and 3 hours before fatigue rest and trading the master ball to another game. I know the guy was playing on gen 6 for #3 I just wanted to put this data in for the fastest gen 7 games.
There is also the pokemon loto that could help if you get lucky still take a while though.

I just a month ago got a shiny Zubat on FireRed, and I think the only other shiny I have gotten from a wild spawn was Makuhita in Emerald while I was completing the PokeDex
I encountered a shiny Makuhita in Emerald as well, but I didn't have any pokeballs at the time. So I fainted it for the exp... I was heartbroken!

Back when I was young, I had a White version, I would start new games for fun without resetting my old save because it's precious, so in one of these new games I found a shiny Lillipup
I caught it and tried to figure out what was wrong with it, then I remembered that this file would be wiped and was kind of upset that I had to lose this peculiar creature

Out of my 40+ legitimate shinies, I’ve only ever failed one. I caught a shiny medicham in the ultra wormhole and then later I accidentally threw a master ball at another Pokémon, and then reset my game. I forgot to save so I lost the medicham. That was the only Ultra Wormhole shiny I actually caught.
For number 3, he kind of deserves it because he’s a hacker (he has 903 master balls)
