    This is the best review I’ve seen of this product. Your conclusion is totally on point and validated my hesitation about buying a cheaper cover. I want a cover to protect my Scribe but, since I’ll rarely be transporting it and the device itself is so large, I want a cover that’s easily removable because the cover will only come into play when I’m not using the device.

    I have the same cover and have also tried a less expensive cover which opened like a book. After a bit I have returned to using the Amazon cover. It conforms perfectly to the device and is useful as a stand, even when balancing the Scribe in my lap for longer reading sessions. Not a perfect protective cover but I find myself drawn to it.

      Thanks for sharing your experience Bruce - interesting that you went back to the Scribe folio. It is neat. I quite like it 👍

      I also bought a cheaper case first at launch. I opened it immediately disliked it on opening it. Put it straight back into the packaging. Ordered this case for next day delivery and sent the cheap case back.

      Do you think it gives much protection for the scribe? I literally just got one and it's so slippery I'm scared to pick it up lol. But this case doesn't look that protective from a fall etc

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  Před 8 měsíci +1

      @letsmakeitagoodworld because the Scribe is secured via magnets I wouldn’t expect it to be great for falls. That said, the textured exterior is great for grip and it works well for shielding the Scribe if you place it in a backpack, etc.

    Excellent review. All types of covers have their own pros and cons.

    I love the Scribe folio. Very simple and elegant. I actually think the way it magnetizes to the back (for stand mode) is superior to the triangle design that most tablets use....especially on the lower angle.
    I find that you don't really need to use the loop. I have maybe, accidently knocked my pen off once.
    I tried two or three, non-Amazon, cases....and they all had a problem with the front flap coming loose during normal transit. I think because they were relying on small magnets on the edge of the case itself, instead of the built-in magnets on the kindle.

    I wish other case makers would use the casual magnetic attachment. More secure is a pain in the butt if I want to put it in and out of the case multiple times a day.

    If only it had a landscape compatible orientation…

    Very helpful review - thank you. Have you meanwhile experienced any fraying of the edges, as some have? And wouldn‘t it be nice if one could also prop the Scribe up for reading in landscape mode, like the origami covers do? That way, we could make better use of the Scribe‘s newish feature of having a 2-page layout in landscape mode, for a great book-like reading experience.

    My cloth amazon case has been fraying cords all around the edges; are others seeing this or is mine defective?

    I bought my scribe used and it came with this case and I can’t get it to stay in the triangle wrap to use as a stand. It seems the magnets are not strong enough. And without that, I do not really see a point other than moving it from place to place.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  Před rokem +2

      Make sure you’re not folding it into a closed triangle (like most of these trifold style cases) - the tabbed part doesn’t fold to the inside of the triangle, it remains outside and lays flat on the backside of the case. It’s a little hard to explain in writing, but check out some of the standing shots in my video for a clearer image.

    • @adamrshields
      @adamrshields Před rokem +1

      @@JakeReevesVideo is it just gravity they holds it together? I can get it to stay (taking the pen out and making the tab on the outside help) but there doesn’t seem to be any magnetic connection.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  Před rokem +2

      There should be a magnetic connection. Perhaps yours has a defect. Might be worth reaching out to Amazon about. Mine is very weak if positioned incorrectly as a stand and just falls, but I can definitely feel the magnets if it is positioned correctly.

      It’s the same way as say an iPad Smart Case. It takes awhile but once you get the hand of it it’s easy to fold it.

    60 bucks on a cover that will inevitably lead you to throw your 400 € reader/notebook to the ground... I better get an aftermarket one with the traditional plastic/pressure installation.
